    Ed is one of the most unrated guitarrist, his work on Radiohead is always under the spotlight but he's one of the most creative guitarrist of the 21 century, while jonny do his weird solos and Thom put the base on it, Ed travels in an ambient world that makes Radiohead so unique!

    • @FHappier

      Diego Gutierrez isn't about what star shine the most, it's about how they shine, radiohead it's full of incredible artist, as thom sing also can play piano like philip and use a synthesizer like jonny ( who can play almost all the instruments) ed can sing making second voices and use the guitar, bass and colin play drums... it's a band that they're so talented that they need to have a position inside the band, that does not make them undervalued as you said!

    Radiohead are an interesting band because they don't really have that strict 'lead guitarist' 'rhythm guitarist' thing going on. The three guitarists are equally important as each other in my opinion. I've always been a 'Bends' kind of guy but watching videos recently of Radiohead in the studio has helped me appreciate their later work all the more and the way they experiment and get new sounds out of their instruments.

    Not sure why Jonny gets so much credit for the Radiohead sound but not Ed. I take way more inspiration in Ed.

    • @Vishnu-xn4vx
      @Vishnu-xn4vx 6 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      HARwinsOUTagain Jonny is the solo guy, I mean his style is pretty awesome Right, but is not different from a guitarist with love for effects and a good style (Jack White or Nels Cline both amazing too); but Ed is the cohesive element in Radiohead, he builds up the background layers to it, and gives that almost electronic Edge to Everything without being really a synth or alike.
      From songs like National Anthem or Videotape, Bodysnatchers.
      He pretty versatile, playing fuzzy rifs with Wah, sustained lines along the Martenot or a dense wall of filtered octave-up softly strummed chords.
      He is just brilliant!!!!

    • @fefritschi
      @fefritschi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because it's Jonny (and Thom, of course) who composes and arranges most of the stuff. Let's be honest, Ed is a good guitarist, but he's replaceable.

    • @Vishnu-xn4vx
      @Vishnu-xn4vx 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Technically is also Thom, most of Radiohead's characteristic sound comes from Jonny.
      From the brass arrangements in National Anthem, to 15 Steps beat in the modular; even Daydreaming it was made all by Jonny and Ed.
      Over time Thom's role has reduced to mostly Voice.
      Composition has gone over the others. Even TKOL was made thanks to Jonny's pseudo DAW in Max

    • @fefritschi
      @fefritschi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You mistake arrangement for composition. Thom's still writing most of the songs (melody & words), and he's involved in the arrangement as least as much as the other members are, except the string scores that are written solely by Jonny.

      He used the exact same circuit and pickup configuration in a modified Fernandes on the Popmart tour, so he (or Fernandes or his technician) came up with it first. They lost a lot of equipment when their rehearsal room in Dublin was flooded, so maybe that guitar was destroyed.

    Would be nice to actually have it in had. Seriously, I ordered that thing back in February, and the date keeps getting pushed and pushed back. Now I'm being told August. I'm not sure who's to blame. Fender for promising more than they could deliver, the shop for taking more preorders than they could handle, or Fernandes for not getting pickups made on schedule.

    Like it. Had a Burny Les Paul with Sustainer for a few years. As used by Steve Hackett. You can get some great ideas using it ranging from massive feedback sustain on chords down to subtle almost flute like notes.
    Sounds very ike Robert Fripp in this advert.

    Oh, the stuff I would play with this guitar... ethereal, mysterious, light whimsical riffs, like the Beatles. Yet also, dark, cold, brooding, unnerving stuff like Nirvana, Audioslave, Soundgarden, Bush and a lot of Radiohead's earlier work.

    • @DunedinMultimedia2
      @DunedinMultimedia2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not exactly. If you remove the cable from the guitar when you're not playing it, the 9v battery will last for weeks. This has been my experience. The build quality of the guitar is outstanding for a Mexican Strat and the neck is incredible.

    • @DunedinMultimedia2
      @DunedinMultimedia2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MicahBuzanANIMATION Yes. I got it a year ago. This is a deluxe, high end MiM Strat. The build quality is excellent. The neck is chunky, like a baseball bat, and feels great. The sustainer can be beast if you let it get out of control. When the sustainer switch is turned off, the Fernandes becomes a great active humbucker.
