You should try out for a different corps instead of just blue devils just a little variety you could probably make blue coats or vanguard or someone like that
In this year, people were so focused on the Bluecoats winning this year, and Santa Clara winning drums that the Cadets drumline this year was overlooked in some places.
And now Boston will sound like this. People are so critical of "repetitive writing" but everyone's book sounds the same year to year, it only changes with the arranger.
When Jim Casella was writing for SCV, that certainly wasn't the case. Unfortunately, you're right though. There's a lot of repetitive writing with many variations on rhythm and style. Not to sound too critical, but a lot of smaller World Class and Open Class corps have almost indistinguishable writing where it virtually all sounds like 1 person wrote it.
Let’s be clear: ALL of this book is nuts. But what always gets me is how clearly defined that accel section was from 3:37 to 3:51. Absolutely undeniable musicianship through hive-mind-like ensemble communication. Seeing 19 players able to handle a gray area with such great precision is truly remarkable. 🙌🏼
Idk if it was written that way, but there's a lot of times where the center snare's stick heights are higher than everyone else's .-. Still a fantastic book though! Loved the show, and this battery throws down like no other! :D
These videos always bum me out. I want to see what the snare is doing, and tenor. So, hopefully one day they'll focus the camera half on tenors and half on snare. We can make out what the bass is doing. It's like DCI finals video recordings. It's always the tenors going off, but they focus the cameras on the color guard running around. It pisses me off.
Never thought I'd say this, but Cadets seemed to get a little, maybe just a Little Funk in them playing Basic Strokes and all. I think I actually enjoyed their book this year more than anyone else's...
HardstyleCatalyst That's bs in fact I think the way judging on the field works now has more to do with the overall show instead of the individual thing they're grading. Like if the show is hype and the drumline does good enough they get more points. Because the Cadets show wasn't well received their percussion scores suffered even though these guys are amazing.
Dragonspartax nah it's probably because "content" placed high but "achievement" wasn't the best. Achievement weighs higher. Look at SCV, one of the most under hyped shows that year, yet they still won drums.
That movement has been largely unchanged throughout the season. My transcription has a few mistakes in dynamics, but the only change that I've seen is the sixteen note roll near the end, which had some accents added. That change is already on the transcription.
I also had a hard time getting into many cadets shows. I just never liked the uniforms. THANK YOU for changing them. I love the new uniforms. Now The Cadets for me have more depth Hopkins shine on. It is Good
He hasn't been the caption head for a while. But since Mcnutt is going to Boston Crusaders next summer, Tom Augnst was coincidentally renamed as the caption head again.
+uasuka I never said they were better I'm just saying they're what I enjoy. Plus just cause they're overall is better doesn't mean their battery is better.
This is one of the few modern drumlines where I get the feeling that the battery is playing actual music. Far too often I get the feeling that drum batteries nowdays are all about hacking out a bunch of licks to coordinated dance moves. Some of the musicality has been lost as DCI percussion as evolved since the 90's.
So, so underrated.

+HEY MA!! MA!!! Nah
Oh, hey Brandon 😘
BRANDON MY MAN
HEY MA!! MA!!! he was in the cadets his first year I think
This was the most underrated and forgotten Drumline this year. But, I am glad that the these Cadets didn't let that stop them!
They. Are. Playing. Some. NOTES!
center snares intensity is crazy to watch in 60fps.
I love this content has been putting out. Keep it up.
Bravo @vicfirth for the stunning new content in 60fps! You realize we can never go back to 30fps now...
In this year, people were so focused on the Bluecoats winning this year, and Santa Clara winning drums that the Cadets drumline this year was overlooked in some places.
I feel like the cadets have been playing different iterations of the same rhythmic patterns for the the past 3-4 years
I'm sure most drumlines do that.
They have been. Vanguard's been doing it since they were Phantom
I call them "Santa Clara Regiment" now. Although Rennick has developed a few new hallmarks since he left Phantom, it's only a partial evolution.

these guys are incredible
To bad the sound is a 16th note ahead of the video.
Only at about 90bpm though.. Otherwise, the sound it is approximately 150ms ahead if the video.
starting from 30 seconds... That has gotta be the cleanest beats I have ever heard!

i never don't break out laughing at :39, its as hilarious as it is totally appropriate
Whoa! Cadets had a bad ass line!
love the SCV 2004 quote at 2:02
YES I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HEARD KRACKUS
Yes!!! Seeing them tomorrow!!
Great video! Loved the skyline view in the background... hope you got some stills!! Best of luck this year to this awesome group!

Dude, MAN chops across the board! Colin McNutt doesn't hold back!
SICK!!
I Love it

WHO'S NEPHEW TOOK A BREAK ON THE VIC FIRTH VIDEO?
That bass tuning is godlike.
6:00 6/8 MCNUTT SPECIAL!
barely notice that they're marking time starting with their right. isn't the left foot supposed to be the leading foot?
the cadets have always marked time off the right, it's just their style of doing things.
Excellent question! Different corps have different traditions, and that one is theirs :D
Yep, since 1985
Yea: fun after marching all summer, then going back to football season and forgetting to switch back to left…
how is this a fifth place drumline?
From what I understand their front ensemble wasn't very good this year.

Is the opener transcribed on snarescience?

I Like That That Is Nuts. Lots Of Cool Triplet Form Licks
rip fartherest left snare at 0:00
Just wow ...!!
Is there a point to have the remo logo facing out? Just for looks?
Very well! :)
1:57

wow genial
Whats the stick that they use?
Video 60 frames per second, audio 60 frames behind.
poor guy broke 10 seconds in
they really changed a lot
Is Tom Aungst no longer the caption head?
He hasn't been the caption head for a while.
But since Mcnutt is going to Boston Crusaders next summer, Tom Augnst was coincidentally renamed as the caption head again.
Something about cadets is so "hip" this year
2:02-2:04 - A tribute to SCV 2004?
2.09 splits yeah haha
I don't know why I can just never get into the cadets. Don't get me wrong, they're crazy good. It's just I can never get into them.
+uasuka finally realized how insane the snare book is....damn
+uasuka I saw the snare lot video at Massilon last year and holy shit
+Jeff Neuser yeah for me there's only three corps I really am pumped about and it's Blue Devils, Blue Knights, and Academy
+uasuka I never said they were better I'm just saying they're what I enjoy. Plus just cause they're overall is better doesn't mean their battery is better.
+uasuka and at the time I'm commenting blue knights are top 7
Machine snares
Damn
