Best book of the year tbh. Been following them since their "Learn the music" video and seeing how difficult their music was compared to all other drumlines. They haven't disappointed at all, truly amazing work and a it pays off with this hard book and clean, impressive drumline.
Dude. It seriously sounds like 1 snare, 1 quad, and people tied together by mind on bass. This is by far one of the cleanest if not the most clean line I've ever seen.
The higher the snare tuning, the more that it projects. But, with the projection of sound comes a very vulnerable piece; that it sounds incredibly dirty at the slightest misstep. If you notice, many college lines play with ridiculously low tuned snares, because the dirt doesn't even process and it just projects a general sound. The Cadets' are the only people that I've noticed going That high, but most corps' keep it in the upper range because of how powerful the brass is.
I was wondering does it seem like the Cadets have been one of the more overlooked Drumlines this year compared to let's say the Blue Devils, Santa Clara, the Bluecoats (even though they SHOULDN'T be by any means). But, it seems that way at least from where I'm at. I hear more about the above drumlines and less about Cadets at least this year and overall, it seems like the Cadets has been like a sleeper hit and great corps.. Anyway, just saying. And btw, great video!!!
@@cameroncavender yeah but they're at vertical stick height and its really kinda minimal dirt, and the in the show segments shown immediately after all the vert singles (including the split) are pretty clean
The Cadets always have the most aggressive percussion books. While it's fun to watch them perform, it gets pretty old after a while. I don't find much musicality in it.
It's the style, every line gets old to some viewers when they've had the same arranger for some time. SCV is fantastic, but I tend to tune them out when I'm just hearing notes constantly being run in the same fashion. Happens with me every year, but they're still good. The Cadets hold my attention more. And BD, they get old often fast, but it's fun to hear them play every once in a while. Usually when I just wanna hear some good rolls.
My chops got sore just from watching this video.
def one of the hardest books (ive heard) this year. and clean. vay clean. keep it up, guys!
I think that 4/4-sounding bar with the tenor shots at 6:22 is the most satisfying bar ever.

So sick! One on my favorite drumlines this year 👌

Have you watched any of the Rennick lines yet?
very very intense book. very impressive. Thumbs up!! Center snare is incredibly intense to watch.
How they got 6th in percussion this year, I will NEVER know...
Such a clean line.
pianoman598 - Maybe the pit was the deal-breaker between them and Crown. It is "percussion" after all
pianoman598 the other thing I notice is insanely high the snare tuning is, like literally the smallest amount of dirt comes blatantly clear
DatK9 - I don't know the science behind that,but sounds interesting.

DatK9 NIce!
Definitely talented, after the 'practice' part: I am an ex-band-geek, and drums ALWAYS give me chills - yours did, too. :)
5:37... love that. Basses show up and hop in the rep like it ain't no fucking thing. Working every second of the day. Fuck yeah.
Actually, it was just them walking into the block, they had been playing with them before. But it sure does look cool!
Did the horns in the background at 4:40 match perfectly to where the drums are in the show or am I thinking of a different part
BlueTurtle teo I was hoping someone else noticed that XD
Swaggin out on the alternating single hand 5's at 9:25
I wish I had chops like that
My favorite version of the closer
lookin good this year boys.
I've always thought of the Cadets snares as just chops galore

Agreed
Cadets' percussion scores got slaughtered at finals, even though they should have at least been top 4...
The beginning of the video very clearly shows them playing 8s dirty. I don't mean to be an ass, but it's evident.

Milo Johnson in my opinion that doesn't excuse anything
So much better than BD’s 2016 line.
let's play: SPOT THE TASTY EGG BEATERS
snare sound is lovellyyyyyyyyy
someone needs to transcibe/update that opener ending. 🔥
Does anyone else notice the snare, two to the left of center, is leaning forward the entire time in the beginning.
RiCE yeah
Man, those hand transitions in the beginning. When was this taken?

But I'm rooting SCV this year. Cadets a close second, maybe.
4th
+Alan Meyers - I meant in my opinion. . . but did they really get 4th in percussion??? Or was that a reference to something else?
SCV won high drums, but got 4th overall
what a beefy book...my goodness
yeah...i wonder if it gets old playing that loud ALL THE TIME over the summer
probably lmao
Nope
9:30 for a minute or two...buckle up. possibly take a Dramamine
0:29 i spot a goof
The craziest part is that in try outs that will be the thing that gets you cut. That small. Can’t even here it. But its enough.
Is it just me or are the tenor drums very low toward the ground?
Why are there accents always like 13 inches compare to the common 12 or 11.
Chase Manhart style/preference of the techs
How do they get their left hands so high while using traditional grip
Joel Huhta combinations of arm and wrist, I practice that in my warm up.... getting that left up almost past vertical
Practice. Talent. Chops. Having balls. Playing the drum with confidence. No fear. I’m
Better than everyone mindset.
Nice!
Weird, for some reason I hear flams, I hope it's a problem with my speakers
center dude leave the rest behind leading with his vertical LEFT HAND!:-)
Holy chops
glass someone is still reading notes!
Danger Zone!
So just to be clear: that's Cadets playing Basic Strokes.
I don't understand anything in the world anymore.
I think it has to do with Brian Perez being an instructor - he was there last year, and they played it last year too.
Murray Gusseck is letting them play it. Collin McNutt explains it in their Vic Firth video or them playing the basic strokes exercise.
glad*
Aggro as fuck.
Ballsy book. Tenor line is a little dirty on the releases.
Yeah, it's a line of all rookies, but they did a damn good job.
Those 8s are dirty at the beginning...
this is ridiculous.
For. Fucks. Sake.
ramming**
Um....Bluecoats split much???
Lol Bloo wasn't the first line to play split singles, and Cadets actually had more splits in their book in 2014/ever since then
