    Hello all,
    In this episode I talk about how I treat my workers and why it's important to do things the right way. If you treat people as human beings they will act in kind. I received some "interesting" comments latelly so in this episode I am trying to get across the message of "GO AFTER YOUR DREAM/GOAL don't let people put doubt in your head and work towards whatever you want to achieve and you WILL get it, period!
    Take care guys and thank you for everything that you do for my channel.

      Hello,
      I really enjoy your content. Affordable housing is much needed all over. My wife and I recently had our first child and been trying to find a home but everything is so expensive. I'm not sure how someone affords the mortgage payment on homes. I love that you try to keep your home payments around the $400 to $600 range. That is around the price we would hope to find. Wish you were here in Texas. I would hire you to build us a home!

      I admire your outlook and philosophy about your workers. I used to frame homes for habitat, and I would never do it for a living because most employers treat their guys like crap. The company I work for now(not in construction) doesnt know the first thing about treating employees right. If I wasn't so close to retirement I'd go somewhere else

    You fill a need I wish so many others were able to accomplish. Homes that are less than 1500 square feet, let alone 1,000, are just so hard to find. But they're so much easier to keep clean and organized, especially if you can later toss in a couple accessory sheds around the property, or even a detached garage someday. It's so hard to tell the scale, but are you framing 8' or 9' walls?
    I've been going through your video history and thoroughly enjoying your channel, so I hope all the likes I've been adding have been helping your TH-cam channel climb even a little!

    I sure wish you were based here in southern California where home prices are astronomical. My sister tried and failed to build a small 1300 sq ft house in northern LA county. Too many red tapes to go through. Most builders are not interested in building small houses. Expensive fees for utility hookups, school districts, fire and police, etc. At the end of the day your small house would cost almost as much as a house built by a national home builder. So keep up with your good work and continue to be unselfish in helping others to afford a home while still earning a decent living for yourself.

      Biggest I built was a 2 story 1450 cabin. It had spray foam insulation and ridged board insualtion in the exterior walls. I overinsulated the heck out of that house. That being said I never built a fully passive one, although I do like the idea of those builds.

      Alexander Photographer he is probably referring to air sealing which can be done fairly inexpensively. The question is wether or not it is worth his time to do it or pay someone to do it. This house is built much better then the home I currently live in and I have no complaints.
      Air sealing methods would include details such as sill sealant, sheathing seams taped, WRB or housewrap properly taped, foundation to sheathing sealed using either a sealant or tape... properly sealed Sheetrock to separate the conditioned and unconditioned space etc... there is always so much to do and although the materials cost may only be “$500” the time and labor of those details is extreme in many cases. Some are easier then others but the cost is not inconsequential.

    Hey boss how's it going, since you are a contractor I have a question and hope you can answer...
    I am currently a class A driver and I am looking forward to join a company next year that either does tract home builds or custom home builds.
    I want to learn framing and I have previous construction experience, I worked with a general contractor for about 4 years, so I know a bit of everything, and I did commercial electrical for 3 years. So my question is, for an apprentice what is starting pay, with the previous work experience I have, I know it's not on framing itself, but have some knowledge about it and use TH-cam as a school itself with videos like yours.
    I live in California, would you happen to know what rate I could start off at?
    Thank you

    • @MigraineCraftsman
      @MigraineCraftsman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is one of those questions that is area specific, different markest will commend different rates.
      I pay $15 an hour for grunt work (low skill)
      $20-30 an hour and up for other jobs.
      I don't know pay scales for Cali but I do know building gets pricey there so you will have to see what people offer you and go from there.
      I did read something a while back that some handyman in California were making 6 figures a year.

    So much truth in this video. The old-school mentality of bullying ppl. to move faster or rush harder are over. I've been blessed enough to work for 2 major corporations that have offered leadership & emotional intelligence training. I've applied it into my personal life too. Those guys seem to move at a perfect steady pace anyway. Every one of them is moving at all times. What else can you ask for... Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!

    Hi MC, I'm not in US and curious what qualification you have to allow you to design and build these houses. Normally it requires an Architect to design and Contractor to build.

    • @jamesmoore1532
      @jamesmoore1532 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the US it will depend on the jurisdiction. If the town/city/county requires a stamp it would be for structural only. You can design or have a designer draw plans then pay a structural engineer or architect to review them and stamp for a fee. In areas that require no stamp a simple structure like this is covered by code and the planning department will call out any issues that need addressed.

    • @MigraineCraftsman
      @MigraineCraftsman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      James below/above summed that up perfectly it all depends on where you build. Sometimes you will have to get a stamp and the architect will look at your blueprint/floorplan for 5 seconds and stamp it and you give them couple hundred bucks. :)

    Hi.
    Ilove your enthusiasm I have never seen a boss so enthusiastic about his work what he does his job what he creates and about how he feels about his employees I commend you for that because it is very very hard to find anyone in construction to be honest and take pride in what they do in their work I actually got scammed but a construction supposedly business in our small town and he stole my mobile home camper that was my 11 year old daughters he stole our dog because he befriended her and I can't prove it but cuz I don't I don't have pictures of them but we did see him but that wasn't enough and he stole all the money I had paid him to do the work and I know that was my fault it was my first time the home was actually a trailer that was given to me because my daughter and I were homeless and we got robbed took us almost 2 years to save up the money and we got robbed so I'm stuck with a trailer that's pretty much worthless cuz the water got in and I'm pretty sure there's mold in there and I was trying to build a tiny house out of a shed only to find out it's not allowed here and now because I started doing things to it I can't send it back so I'm stuck with it and to make it livable I have to add 390 ft to it so that it could actually be I think that's it what it is for it to actually be 900 square feet it's a 14x40 14 wide 40 long so I have to add more to it but of course I don't have the money for it anymore so my little girl and I just live in a small one bedroom apartment that is just extremely tiny but we just keep praying and praying and praying that God hears our prayers and somehow we get this done one way or another we'll get it done that's why I watch a lot of your videos so I could learn and figure out what to do so thank you thank you thank you so much for your videos if you ever do a 900 square foot house please post the video so I can kind of see how you do it and maybe try to copy it in a way but thank you God bless stay safe

    When I was first married my wife was getting migraines almost every day. It was absolutely incredibly bad. We made a few changes and it changed her life. I don’t remember her having a migraine in the last decade. Here is what we did.
    1. No more caffeine. Ever. If you’re on caffeine now and you drink soda pop then slowly work your way off of it. This stuff is absolute crap.
    2. Almost no sugar in your diet. Try to keep sugar low low. Sugar highs and sugar lows will give you migraines. 3. drink at least 8 cups of water a day. 4. If all else fails before it gets bad take an aspirin. 5. Try to eat some vegetables every day. 6. Get at least six hours of good sleep every night. Don’t stay up late. 7. Avoid too much screen time. 8. If you have a hard time going to bed keep a very dull light on and read a book. A boring book and it should work. 9. If you haven’t seen a chiropractor you should go see them and have them adjust your back and neck. I know a lot of people say this is not real medicine or science but I guarantee it works. 10. The sugar thing is a pretty big deal. No more bags of gummy worms. No more bags of sour patch kids. Go get some vegetable trays from the grocery store and it will fix your gut and your head.

      Thank you for this,
      Everything you listed I 100% agree and did most of it, the caffeine part (coffee) is what I always come back to, even if I quit for a month or two. Stupid addiction, can't quite cut it out, as for soda I don't touch that at all

      Migraine Craftsman The other thing I didn’t think about the time when I wrote this was sinus pressure. I have a deviated septum. It caused my nose to get sinus infections quite often. If I could feel pressure in my sinuses even if my nose was clear I started to use a product called Afrin and another one called Xlear. You can get both of those at the pharmacy. I would just spray them in each nostril once. Then just lean back and let the product work a little bit. It would clear out my nose and my sinuses. I have not had a sinus infection in over a decade now. It has been a game changer for me. I understand the coffee thing. I am one of those guys that drinks a monster energy drink every morning. We all have our thing. We all need something fun to look forward too early in the morning :-). I hope the best for you with your migraine headaches.

    Going to be building a house directly behind my current house I have a big back yard and hate how close to the road my front door is. The current house is 600 square feet and built in 1950. New house will be 1200 square feet and attached 900 square foot garage. I've been leaning a lot from this build u are doing and I think I can do the majority of the house by myself. The blue is for cold water the red for hot, if that is what you were referring too. The top of the pipes are also taped so no junk gets in there during construction.
      With this system there is a pipe within a pipe the bigger pipe serves as a chase, hopes that makes sense I know it sounds weird.
