My plate looked the same. I watched the dealer install mine. That black bracket is important to keep rocks etc from hitting the cooler. They didn’t removed the entire front number. They removed my front two wheels and unscrewed some bolts under the wheel well which allowed them to pull the front number out far enough to get those two bolts in. I’d had for you to have a cooler problem and then not cover it because that piece isn’t installed. Only took them about 2hrs to install it all.
Oh ok that makes sense. I'm not sure how well that will stop rocks though since it's more towards the bottom since it cant block air flow. But if I ever do led lighting behind the grill or do anything that requires me to access that area I'll definitely just go ahead and bolt it in.
I got a friend I work with that changed NASCAR tires for 9 years his name is Kyle Symington he’s got over 2 million views on You Tube video, anyway he’s my new side work mechanic , he put my red tow hooks on my Colorado TB, he just lowered the back side of plastic skid plate to instal them, I know you did way more to your truck, this comment is for people like me that just wanted to change their tow hooks to red! It took him about 20 minutes!!
You still helped me figure out where it goes. What do you think about bolting it to the plate and sliding it into place without doing the top bolts behind the bumper?
You're doing an awesome job so far. When I get mine, was planning on doing the same thing. I also want to get a roll bar or sports bar. I'm not sure what chevy call it
That thing is SICK! Awesome stuff with the truck Tony. You have done a great job on that beauty. I couldn't help but notice the shelf behind you in the opening segment. Looks like there are some high-end detailing products in bulk there. Looks like I see P&S, Adams, 3D, and some Wolfgang stuff. Do you do pro detailing as well??
Thank you. I really appreciate it! Good eyes haha ya when I first started Detailing I bought a bunch of chemical guys stuff and realized I should have done more research. I still use some products from them like the total interior, silk shine, quick leather detailer and fabric clean but its taking me awhile to get rid of the other stuff i bought before switching to another brand. But other then that I like the meguiars detailer line up. P&S has been awesome. I like 3d as well. I used to detail a decent amount but since starting my own business I don't do it that often anymore.
@@TonyTheTechnician Lol. I’ve been into detailing for about 11 years now. P&S, 3D, Griot’s, Megs, and CarPro stuff for me. What are you protecting the paint with on the truck?
@paulmysliborski4832 ohh very nice!!! Right now I haven't done a coating or anything yet since I've been busy. So I've just been using p&s bead maker paint protectant every time I wash Carpro is another one I have wanted to try out
Hey sir, can I get a link to that skid plate please, haven’t found this exact one, Thankyou, btw I appreciate your videos, they helped me put on my recovery hooks.
Wondering if you noticed any change in fuel economy after installing the skid plate? I have a 24 trail boss and have been back and forth on actually doing it.
No I have not. It's probably one of the only things that I did to the truck that didn't effect the mileage. Now everything else I've done to the truck now has definitely hurt the mileage lol
@@TonyTheTechnician thank you for the information. I will have to go to Chevy and have them check the parts side by side. I want 2 inches of lift but would prefer that in suspension rather then spacer’s.
I can't remember what I started with maybe 800 then worked my way up to 2000 with soap and water. Then I used metal polish. I could have made it alot nice if I would have done it for longer but figured it was good enough for a skid plate
That would be this over priced piece of metal lol. That was exactly my thoughts when I bought it. After my rewards points and 20% off at the time I ended up getting it for like $120 off the original price.
Unless the skid plate cost 10,000 no i don't think so lol. Lets see. Save 12,000 get this truck and build it how I want or spend 12,000 more for the zr2 and not be able to do the things I want. I think I'll stick with my method lol
oh ok . well if it was me I would send it back and get a new one . some times you have to be an ass and raise hell to get things right and I don't mind being an ass LOL .@@TonyTheTechnician
oh also I was wondering when you put the 2 inch lift on your truck did it feel like there was any kind of binding on the cvs when you turn real hard My zr2 is a 2021 and when I put the 2 inch liftr on it it felt like some binding so I put on the chevy performance ball spline half shaft and it freed it up

Thank you. Glad you found it helpful.
watching some of your mods I'm becoming more inspired to buy one of these trucks..................
Haha ya I've really enjoyed this truck. I will have many more videos coming for the truck
Thanks for making the video! I’ve been waiting to install mine until this came out because I couldn’t figure out what the black piece was for😂
Haha ya someone has also commented about how you can install that piece as well. I didn't even bother lol sorry

@robertsexton9416 it's worth a try and just see how secure it feels.

Tony, get yourself a bottle of Collinite 845 and call it a day.
Easy application, easy removal, and 4-5 month protection.
@@paulmysliborski4832very nice. Thanks for the info. I have heard alot of great things about that!
Where do you buy the skip plate? Thank you. Can you send me the link?
This was just the oem factory skid plate from gm
Can you replace the hooks without taking off the plastic skid? Thanks
I saw on GMs accessories page that they have a light bronze tow hook. They have 17inch wheels that are the same color also
Ya I saw the bronze, they look good. Not with my color scheme I'm going foe but they look nice for sure
Nice, thank you. Just wondering, can the new tow hooks be installed with out the air dam being removed?
Yes you can change the Hooks without removing the air dam

do you need to add a level kit before installing the lift kit ?

I got a 2024 trailboss
I never noticed a difference but it wasn't long before I started changing alot on the truck and never got good gas mileage lol
@TonyTheTechnician right now I get 19mph an that's in my way to work an it's hilly there an back
By any chance do you know if the trail boss or ZR2 suspension fits on the LT package? Want to lift mine but use factory parts
The zr2 is different it would take modification I believe. I would think trail bossy suspension could be used but I'm not positive. Sorry

Seeing the as shipped pictures, don't blame ya for being irritated. A sheet of paper or cardboard in storage seems logical.
My thoughts as well 👍
Where did you order the tow hooks?
Gm accessories
Has the skid plate held up without the backer behind it?
Yes that piece doesn't effect anything with the skid plate.
@@TonyTheTechnician Awesome! Thanks for the info! Where did you find the Trail Boss emblem that you have on the dash? I love that look!

Tony, what did you use to wet sand the skid plate? I ordered after, same as you, and it’s all beat up. GM should be embarrassed for shipping them.
