Big correction - Marketing research & Market research are not interchangeable, they are 2 different things. Market research (seeking opportunity) whereas Marketing research (retaining opportunity and creating value). Marketing research is a subset of market research. Market Research: includes studying market size, market trends, customer preferences, competitor analysis, and other factors that help organizations make informed decisions about their products or services. Marketing Research: includes aspects such as advertising effectiveness, product pricing, distribution channels, branding, and customer satisfaction.
As an undergrad Marketing student, my most favourite two classes are consumer behaviour and marketing research. Even though I always hated maths/numbers but understanding consumer data is the coolest thing ever!

Quite an Informative Video! Hi Shirish, I'm a marketing student in Canada, and I'm struggling to choose between two courses: marketing research and analytics, and business analytics. Both courses seem to have practical applications in the business world, but I'm having a hard time understanding the difference between them. Could you please share your thoughts on the key differences between these two courses, and how they might be useful in different career paths? I'm really interested in both courses and would appreciate your insights to help me make an informed decision. Thank you!
Hi Harleen, I understand. Here is the difference between the two: Marketing research analytics focuses on understanding and optimizing marketing efforts, while business analytics has a broader scope, addressing various aspects of a business to improve performance and drive decision-making.
Hello sir , i just completed my mba my mazor was marketing . after that i worked with bajaj allianz but i left that job and i discover that am more interested into research marketing now how can i started my career again? and the most imp things i have fear from statistics.... please help me out....
Marketing research and market research are often used interchangeably, but they are slightly different concepts. Market research is the process of gathering and analyzing information about a market, its consumers, and its competition. The goal is to understand the current state of the market and identify trends and opportunities. Marketing research, on the other hand, is focused on the effectiveness of marketing activities. It is the process of gathering and analyzing data related to the marketing strategies, tactics, and programs of a company. The goal is to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts and improve the return on investment (ROI) of marketing activities. In summary, market research is about understanding the market, while marketing research is about evaluating the performance of marketing activities. Both types of research are essential for businesses to make informed decisions and create effective marketing strategies.
Sir im a 11th commerce student (without maths ) , what more jobs like market analyst are there which pay well and can be done in india ! And please if you have covered those topic and made a dedicated vid please let me know 🙏
Superb video. Could you articulate the difference between finance business partnering and market analysis? I know they are both focused on informing strategic decisions, but is market analysis effectively more outward looking at the market rather than the business itself? 🤔
finance business partnering is focused on providing financial insights and support to other departments within an organization, while market analysis is focused on understanding the external market environment and identifying opportunities for growth. Both functions are important for businesses to make informed decisions and achieve their objectives.
It will NOT be replaced by AI, it will be replaced by a person who knows how to work with AI 😊 And you can be the expert in your field and still knows how to work with AI and you will not have to worry about this 😊👍❤️
Absolutely, Marketing is all about Psychology these days, but make sure to have stats, math and eco related subjects for better foundation to marketing research
Hi Shirish, quite an insightful video it is :) I wanted to know why the "User Experience Research and Design Specialization course" is mentioned in the marketing research video. Is UX also a skill that a market research enthusiast must learn? Please guide. As I have a background in the design field I am curious if I could jump into Market research or if should I start with UX first?
@@su_per33 Hi, In past few months what I understood is that UX design is not a subpart of marketing research, but the two fields are interconnected. UX design primarily focuses on creating user-friendly experiences, while marketing research is concerned with understanding market dynamics. UI/UX is itself a giant field to explore. If you are aware of the field called "Product management". It demands skills from business, technology, UX design, marketing, project management, data analysis, and more to develop successful products. Hope it helps :)
@@yukta777 The only similarity in both is "psychology". Both UX Researchers and Marketing Researchers analyse the users/consumer's behaviour and trends. That's why many marketing graduates work in tech as a UX Researcher or Designer. And for your question, you can't jump to market research, marketing researchers can jump to UX but not vice versa since for UX you don't necessarily need a degree (but psychology, marketing, sociology are preferred) but for Marketing research, Marketing or Economics or Psychology degree is necessary.
