If you love golf, this series has always been about actually playing golf. As a player since the first offering, most players focus on their player and playing in society tournaments. After a few rounds, new players won't even care about tour players, but rather playing as yourself etc.
@White Dove Except most long time TGC fans have done without any pros up to this point, since you play as your own character. Most of us just don't care. But I suppose 2K could've been less cheap about acquiring more pro names and likenesses, for those that do care.

The Golf Club games are all about the play. Never mind the distractions of various modes etc. The swing mechanics and touch are brilliant in this series. Highly advise people give it a go.
I (respectfully) disagree.. i thought the swing mechanics and animations were the low point of the golf club series. The crown jewell was the course builder. I was hoping the extra money from the 2k buy out would introduce some mo-cap swing animation so they dont seem so robotic, stiff and not realistic. In my unimportant opinion its the only thing I am disappointed with not being changed in the latest release.
The swing mechanics are quite inconsistent.. the swing time very inconsistent even after the calibration and the sensitivity of picking up of analog movement to pick up motion of swing is lacking, other than that i wouldn't say its a bad game.
njestyle Sorry to say you are doing it wrong then buddy. Took a bit of adjustment training for me from the 2019 game but now the rhythm of my swing works well.

i prefer to avoid the "caracter stats progression" simply because your golf is as good as you are with the game... no gimmick to increase range or precision... it's all about what the player can handle by himself.. in a sport game like this one, I think they did the right choice about leveling up/increasing power stats...
don't get me wrong... the gamification aspect of leveling up and upgrading your character is a great concept in a lot of games, but in this one... we have seen it quite often.. it's a good change in my personnal opinion
To all the people complaining about this game realize this is a game a small developer made and they have been amazing to their community. Im not a huge fan of 2k but I believe once 2k realizes people want and love this they will start dumping the money into it and you will see a huge change in graphics and all the small things that are missing.
Looks like the swing is much improved. I dont like that you cant use the pros but i create myself anyway so whatever. This is going in my library soon, they finally sold me!!! Update* I bought it. The swing mechanic is odd (always fast or slow) but i think its user error at this point. Im coming off of TW 14 and while that game is fun the shots are way more forgiving and I usually put the ball exactly where i want to. Every shot in this game though feels like I have to focus because the slices and hooks are plenty and small misses are big mistakes. But with that comes real excitement when I hit a great shot and makes the whole experience feel more alive. The only negative so far is the short game, it crazy inconsistant. It still might be user error but it seems punishing (1 shot goes 2 ft and 1 goes 2 miles with no real reason). I really enjoy it so far.
@Scott Dee I bought it and play it almost every night. I think its the best golf game ina long time but it tends to be inconsistant (which is the core of being a good golfer in real life). It seems like out of the blue the same swing ive been hitting fairways all day with will suddenly and for no reason become "slow". Then im slicing and dicing everything and dropping like a stone on the leader boards. Its prob not all the game but its oddly sudden
Might give 2K my money just because they actually went the simulation route with this one. I haven't played TGC since the original Golf Club game but I appreciated what they were able to do with it. Haven't played a PGA Tour 2K game in much longer than that, I don't love golf, but I'll probably pick this one up.
THIS! in NBA2k21 I'm really tired of grinding VC on my "main" build, for my other builds/characters to get their attributes up to a playable state (everything below ovr 85 is pretty much unplayable) before I play the first Season on them to then grind the required badges to make it all work, to finaly compete against other players. Stupid system to make you buy VC to skip the grind...
@@Karrott9 not in this one. It's the clubs you select. Some are more or less forgiving with the benefits of greater carry distance. It the settings that you choose under difficulty. Society's and other tournaments are normally locked to certain settings so nobody gets any advantage.
I am an older gamer so I used to play a lot of good hands as they used to be some of the best games decades ago. I just feel if they could get more licences, sirens more time on player likenesses. Get the green and gold jackets to work towards. Real upgrades and maje it like an RPG or as a mouse that would really make it popular. Also like the F1 series they could go back onto the past and play as it against famous old players like Norman, Faldo etc. There is so much they could do. This feud like a start but not they need to keep it going. They are getting the mechanics right and much better but they need to get the models & the licenses to really pull people on and get a wider audience. Surely companies could put money on and it's the tyoe of game or maybe the only where brands do not detract but enhance it. There is so much money on golf and so many worldwide golfers I really think of they didn't the time and money it could become easy more popular. Not as much as a football /soccer game but it can interest a wide age group like that. I mean because you can take your time unlike football/soccer this is the type of game my dad can or would play. It was one of the most and best fun toys ganes on the Wii because of motion controls. I kind of wish we had that option to with great hardware to do with it. Imagine vr golf on ps5 with motion controls as an extra you pay for it included for those that want to be more immersed.
Bulldog Games Next Gen should bring better graphics, HB Studios just needs to continue doing what they were doing with The Golf Club, let 2k handle the licensing and stuff and we should have a great golf franchise

Disagree. Pro difficulty compared to pro in tgc 2019 it's much harder and I played a lot of tgc 2019. But you can make the game easier turning off the downswing tempo
Just got this for PS5 and the Game Play is a little better than The Golf Club 2019. But not worth Full Price. Pick up around $30 or less and it is worth the Upgrade. Anything more than that would not recommend not enough improvements.
This game is worth the purchase price although I was able to take advantage of Black Friday pricing when I made the buy. I believe is currently discounted again for PS4 for the year-end. The inability to increase your stats didn't bother me much since upgrading the difficulty settings made the game very challenging as it is. I can't imagine playing this game at Masters level without full stats. My only complaint is the inability to play as a pro. This is a great golf game with room to grow.
I feel like this is a solid base for them to build off of in future years. Secure more player, course, and brand licenses, continue to improve the graphics and presentation, and this can potentially be amazing. Let’s just hope they don’t cancel it after one year like EA did to Rory Mcllroy PGA Tour.
Redridge07 well when I get nba 2k I love the my career but I also want to be able to play a career with a real team or play online with real teams not just MyPlayer
i’m gonna wait for a sale simply because i could see myself getting bored out of my mind so quickly. the career mode seems super boring. no cutscenes, no attributes, nothing? sounds like a slightly worse version of Madden and Fifa’s career modes of late. (at least thru 19. havent played 20, and i have no desire to). just seems so non-rewarding. most of the old tiger woods games didnt feel that way
my dream would be a career mode like in the fifa series. they sure missed the opportunity too make this a all time great golf game. i hope they see theres a market for games like this and hope they will improve this game in the future. awesome cutscenes and some story in this game would make it a must have imo so lets hope for next year
Just remaster the Tiger Woods games and this crap will never be heard of again. Or if licensing is such a problem just leave his name out and make a proper PGA tour game. EA could clear up here cuz these games are so bang average and no fun.
EA would do nothing but bring in a game packed with microtransactions. Just look at their other sporting titles over the last decade. EA are literally destroying all the good work they did as a pioneer in sports gaming.
It's worth it just with the customization alone. Had it for the last couple days and love it. Pretty challenging at mid to high difficulties make you work for scores

I bought the game two days ago and been playing off and on. It's pretty fun. And worth a buy. Longevity and good replay value with the various tournament in the PGA Tour. The downfall is the cut scenes and the commentating gets a little redundant at times. The graphics do feel like you're playing a game from 2014 or something though. Overall I'd give it a 8/10. 👍

No good no multiplayer career or season. Madden and nba2k has spoil me 8 of my family members play seasons in nba2k and alot of other sports games. Don't buy
I bought this golf game after not having one since the last Tiger Woods version. This game is loads of fun but could use a bit of polishing. One problem I'm having is in the evenings when trying to play, it seems the game has trouble connecting to the 2K servers. When this happens, the camera will still pan automatically (sometimes) and you can still here sounds from the game. However, you can't progress beyond the current screen you're on until the game catches up. Like I said, it seems to only happen in the evening after playing a round or two. Definitely very frustrating but still like the game overall.
Pretty easy to spot the casual golf fans by the areas they choose to complain about. I couldn't give two fucks about the bells and whistles, the swing mechanics and course creator alone make this a must-buy.
Problem with this game is its made by 2k this game will eventually become a $60 brick in a few years if you don't want to fart out $60 a year for the same game.
Complaining about not having attributes in a golf game? My dude, golf clubs and your body as you swing the club are what make the difference in golf. If you're off by a fraction on the down swing, you slice the ball hard or it goes too high, etc. Thats how it should be, not some attribute that makes it easier. Honestly, I wish NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB games would follow this.
Only lazy people who can't be bothered to get good at something want mechanics to mitigate how much they suck, hence this whining about no player attributes. While PGA2K21 dials back the sim aspect a bit (more shot feedback, more difficulty options, assists, etc), you can still make it realistic and tough as nails if you'd like by adjusting the options (and baby-tier easy, too). Ultimately the changes give better control regardless, so I'm all for it.
@@trashl0rd Oh I agree fully. It's why I stopped playing Madden for the last decade and NBA 2k is probably going on that list. I learned the ins and outs of new and old schemes of the football teams and all the little things that actually go into winning a football game while being a fan since I was a child so probably about 25 years now. Now, all people have to do in competitive is use the same 5 to 6 cheese plays and they'll win. It's the same with Sim Racing for me. I'm good at certain types of race cars but not others, I don't want the game or sim to dumb it down for me, I want to get better at it.
Only 12 pros? And you can't play as them? No fantasy courses? No way would I spend my money on this. Thank goodness I can pop in my Tiger Woods for the PlayStation 2 and still have loads of fun. That's the game we need back.
1. There is over 150, 000 user created courses. (Most will be ported over and new courses will be created daily by users) Trust me, endless fantasy courses to choose from here. 2. Once you create your player and enter society tournaments, you won't care about tour players.
The progression of your own pro makes the golf games. Even in Tiger Woods. 99% of the time I played the old TW games, I played with my pro, and I'm sure most ppl who played the game often, did the same. The ones who only played online with the pros were just lazy to create a character and only logged a few hours.
This is basically a reheat/rehash of The Golf Club19 with a few changes Best thing about this game is the course creator. Everybody's/Hot Shots Golf engine blows this out of the water for realistic physics and gameplay. Charging $60 for 2K21 is laughable.
If you actually played tgc 2019 and you play 2k you will feel the difference and i wished the graphics were better but for actual game play there is no way hotshot golf or any of that can compete
@@joegalloway9011 I'll pick this up when it's $20 bucks and find out. But from the videos it looks like The Golf Club 19 with a few tweaks. Same ball animation of the ball flying up in the air like someone shooting up fireworks. The analog swing control has always been inconsistent and gimmicky. Either too hard to control... or it overcompensates making the game to easy. Many times you don't know why you hit a good or bad shot with the analog swing control. With Hot Shots/Everybody's golf swing meter you know 100% EXACTLY why you hit a good or bad shot and are rewarded for nailing the prefect shot. HS Golf engine also kills any other Golf game in the physics engine. The ball just reacts properly. I'll check out 2K21 when it comes down in price and see for myself.

True, they could've just saved some money and not included them at all, along with the name brand clothing and clubs. Gameplay is all that really matters. But I guess 2K thinks people care more about branding and whatever authenticity it provides.

I got the game yesterday and I am really enjoying it. It’s a shame from the start the lack of clothing and equipment you can pick from and they want you to buy them. It’s obviously down to 2k.
@@ZickDorito Yes this is correct i think many people are trying to load 2 profiles on same console that will not work you have to use 1 profile then add them as a guest.It works just fine like this this tho.

Raheem Hannah Agreed.......next year’s version of PGA Tour 2K22 is gonna look amazing on PS5, but this game is a step in the right direction. I’m hoping that this game gets a lot of support and praise for its gameplay and maybe just maybe the NFL will give 2K sports a chance to make. simulation style football game. But I understand baby steps first as we go into this next gen with the PS5 and XSX, 2K will be back in football it’s only a matter of time.

Shabby looking. No interest in the 'golf club' series whatsoever. Still playing Rory PGA on my PS4. Rory's Frostbite engine is awesome and wipes the floor with this in terms of graphics.
Why play as a pro? You create your own character. There are no player attributes in the game, it's all player skill. So you'd only being playing as the pro for the likeness alone. Seems pointless.

Graphics are not great but it is fun to play i am liking it so far it has settings where you can make it really hard or really easy i think its a good golf game everybody can play plus they have a very low budget im just glad there was a new game.

@@MrKevv2288 Yes 2 player has to be set as a guest tho it saves their apperaence so if you play again in the future the 2 player guest will always be there.Any thing you unlock you can also put on the 2 player guest.
Nope, it doesn't have Agusta National, Pebble Beach, or St. Andrew's which sucks. Hopefully people will create those courses on create a course mode tho and then upload them
@@konora50 all of the courses you just mentioned will be added very soon. Augusta was called firethorn national in tgc2019, could have the same name in this game when it gets imported. The other courses can use the real names because there are no license problems. Keep an eye on tgctours.com for course updates. There will be a very good list of courses that you can use filters on.
I read that the developers plan on taking two years to develop a sequel. They want to do it right and not cram bullshit down people's throats every year.

No attributes probably makes for great multiplayer tournaments online. Unlike nba2k where you need to get your rank up to compete online.

I have been playing The Golf Club 2 since 2017. I skipped TGC 2019. The presentation in PGA Tour 2k21 is outstanding.
This game seems like it's a good base, hopefully 2k22 will be more fleshed out

i’m gonna wait for a sale simply because i could see myself getting bored out of my mind so quickly. the career mode seems super boring. no cutscenes, no attributes, nothing? sounds like a slightly worse version of Madden and Fifa’s career modes of late. (at least thru 19. havent played 20, and i have no desire to).

my dream would be a career mode like in the fifa series. they sure missed the opportunity too make this a all time great golf game. i hope they see theres a market for games like this and hope they will improve this game in the future. awesome cutscenes and some story in this game would make it a must have imo so lets hope for next year

EA would do nothing but bring in a game packed with microtransactions. Just look at their other sporting titles over the last decade. EA are literally destroying all the good work they did as a pioneer in sports gaming.

I think the swing animations look better on Golf Star on my phone. Golf Star even has attribute progression too. This is embarrassing.

It's worth it just with the customization alone. Had it for the last couple days and love it. Pretty challenging at mid to high difficulties make you work for scores

I bought the game two days ago and been playing off and on. It's pretty fun. And worth a buy. Longevity and good replay value with the various tournament in the PGA Tour. The downfall is the cut scenes and the commentating gets a little redundant at times. The graphics do feel like you're playing a game from 2014 or something though. Overall I'd give it a 8/10. 👍

Looks like hard for gameplays than Rory Mcilroy PGA Tour.I'm poor at difficult games.so I won't buy.but 2k21 is courses good than Rory PGA Tour.
I bought this golf game after not having one since the last Tiger Woods version. This game is loads of fun but could use a bit of polishing.
One problem I'm having is in the evenings when trying to play, it seems the game has trouble connecting to the 2K servers. When this happens, the camera will still pan automatically (sometimes) and you can still here sounds from the game. However, you can't progress beyond the current screen you're on until the game catches up. Like I said, it seems to only happen in the evening after playing a round or two. Definitely very frustrating but still like the game overall.
Pretty easy to spot the casual golf fans by the areas they choose to complain about. I couldn't give two fucks about the bells and whistles, the swing mechanics and course creator alone make this a must-buy.

Problem with this game is its made by 2k this game will eventually become a $60 brick in a few years if you don't want to fart out $60 a year for the same game.
They have added two features to gameplay. Same horrible animations. Passing on buying this until there are better animations.

Complaining about not having attributes in a golf game? My dude, golf clubs and your body as you swing the club are what make the difference in golf. If you're off by a fraction on the down swing, you slice the ball hard or it goes too high, etc. Thats how it should be, not some attribute that makes it easier. Honestly, I wish NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB games would follow this.
Exactly this!! I love the fact that different clubs in this will have slight plus/minus effects on control, distance etc - like in real life!
Only lazy people who can't be bothered to get good at something want mechanics to mitigate how much they suck, hence this whining about no player attributes. While PGA2K21 dials back the sim aspect a bit (more shot feedback, more difficulty options, assists, etc), you can still make it realistic and tough as nails if you'd like by adjusting the options (and baby-tier easy, too). Ultimately the changes give better control regardless, so I'm all for it.
@@trashl0rd Oh I agree fully. It's why I stopped playing Madden for the last decade and NBA 2k is probably going on that list. I learned the ins and outs of new and old schemes of the football teams and all the little things that actually go into winning a football game while being a fan since I was a child so probably about 25 years now. Now, all people have to do in competitive is use the same 5 to 6 cheese plays and they'll win. It's the same with Sim Racing for me. I'm good at certain types of race cars but not others, I don't want the game or sim to dumb it down for me, I want to get better at it.
Only 12 pros? And you can't play as them? No fantasy courses? No way would I spend my money on this. Thank goodness I can pop in my Tiger Woods for the PlayStation 2 and still have loads of fun. That's the game we need back.
1. There is over 150, 000 user created courses. (Most will be ported over and new courses will be created daily by users) Trust me, endless fantasy courses to choose from here. 2. Once you create your player and enter society tournaments, you won't care about tour players.

The progression of your own pro makes the golf games. Even in Tiger Woods. 99% of the time I played the old TW games, I played with my pro, and I'm sure most ppl who played the game often, did the same. The ones who only played online with the pros were just lazy to create a character and only logged a few hours.
Man i miss the old tiger woods games. Soooo much detail and building your player was fun. And they even had gamebreakers 😭

This is basically a reheat/rehash of The Golf Club19 with a few changes Best thing about this game is the course creator. Everybody's/Hot Shots Golf engine blows this out of the water for realistic physics and gameplay. Charging $60 for 2K21 is laughable.
If you actually played tgc 2019 and you play 2k you will feel the difference and i wished the graphics were better but for actual game play there is no way hotshot golf or any of that can compete
@@joegalloway9011 I'll pick this up when it's $20 bucks and find out. But from the videos it looks like The Golf Club 19 with a few tweaks. Same ball animation of the ball flying up in the air like someone shooting up fireworks. The analog swing control has always been inconsistent and gimmicky. Either too hard to control... or it overcompensates making the game to easy. Many times you don't know why you hit a good or bad shot with the analog swing control. With Hot Shots/Everybody's golf swing meter you know 100% EXACTLY why you hit a good or bad shot and are rewarded for nailing the prefect shot. HS Golf engine also kills any other Golf game in the physics engine. The ball just reacts properly. I'll check out 2K21 when it comes down in price and see for myself.
@@joegalloway9011 Hotshots is a good arcade golf game but in no way does it compete with this game and i love hotshots golf they are 2 different types of games there was another arcade golf game i used to play i cant remember the name of it but you could beat up your caddy one of them was a stripper.

True, they could've just saved some money and not included them at all, along with the name brand clothing and clubs. Gameplay is all that really matters. But I guess 2K thinks people care more about branding and whatever authenticity it provides.

I got the game yesterday and I am really enjoying it. It’s a shame from the start the lack of clothing and equipment you can pick from and they want you to buy them. It’s obviously down to 2k.

No. There are premade golfers you can use as guest.
@@ZickDorito Yes this is correct i think many people are trying to load 2 profiles on same console that will not work you have to use 1 profile then add them as a guest.It works just fine like this this tho.

Raheem Hannah Agreed.......next year’s version of PGA Tour 2K22 is gonna look amazing on PS5, but this game is a step in the right direction. I’m hoping that this game gets a lot of support and praise for its gameplay and maybe just maybe the NFL will give 2K sports a chance to make. simulation style football game. But I understand baby steps first as we go into this next gen with the PS5 and XSX, 2K will be back in football it’s only a matter of time.

Shabby looking. No interest in the 'golf club' series whatsoever. Still playing Rory PGA on my PS4. Rory's Frostbite engine is awesome and wipes the floor with this in terms of graphics.

Why play as a pro? You create your own character. There are no player attributes in the game, it's all player skill. So you'd only being playing as the pro for the likeness alone. Seems pointless.

Graphics are not great but it is fun to play i am liking it so far it has settings where you can make it really hard or really easy i think its a good golf game everybody can play plus they have a very low budget im just glad there was a new game.

Yes but the game is not cross platform. So if you're on xbox your friends have to be on xbox as well. But all the courses are cross platform

@@MrKevv2288 Yes 2 player has to be set as a guest tho it saves their apperaence so if you play again in the future the 2 player guest will always be there.Any thing you unlock you can also put on the 2 player guest.
Does it have all majors?
Nope, it doesn't have Agusta National, Pebble Beach, or St. Andrew's which sucks. Hopefully people will create those courses on create a course mode tho and then upload them
@@konora50 all of the courses you just mentioned will be added very soon. Augusta was called firethorn national in tgc2019, could have the same name in this game when it gets imported.
The other courses can use the real names because there are no license problems.

I read that the developers plan on taking two years to develop a sequel. They want to do it right and not cram bullshit down people's throats every year.
