Perfect timing, my Wrangler 4xe lease ends next year, I'll be getting this car for family trips. I was considering an R1S but after watching a video where most body shops were asking for 40k+ to fix the rear quarter panel turned me off instantly.
You doing the scene change and then clapping is killing me 😂😂 You're supposed to clap and then change the scene but keep doing what you're doing, it's unique I guess. Keep up the good work. I today realized how much I like watching your reviews. I came to yours after Doug's review of Ioniq 9 and I fast forwarded through basically his entire video and I'm taking my sweet time with yours.
@@MotoManTV Nope, I've been watching your channel for more than a year (though I don't know how many years). It's just that when I was watching your review of Ioniq 9, i realized how bored I was when I was watching another review of it.
The kia ev9 technically was never a true 800v eV architecture. It was more in the 600+ pack voltage. The gv70, ioniq5, ioniq6 were all closer to a true 800 v architecture.
On the opposite end of the EV spectrum. Hyundai is advertising *today*, a short term lease with a payment of under $120 (not a typo, one hundred twenty). With the deposit due at delivery, it’s still adapted to under two hundred a month.
Great episode! In design, i think the wheel arches would look better squared off like a GM product. The storm trooper look is definitely becoming hyundai design language and lastly yes the price has to come down. Overall, hyundai design and quality has been improving, i hope it keeps getting better!
I didn’t know pricing had even been announced. Incidentally, I see plenty of $70,000-80,000 pickup trucks and SUVS on local dealer lots. I don’t see anyone going bananas about those.
Not the best looking, but not horrible either. I'm sure the interior quality and design is much better than any competitors. Waiting for the idiots here to start their usual deluded complaints that Hyundai isn't an equal competitor to Ford, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and the others and therefore can't charge that much for a car despite it being cheaper and offering more than cars like Volvo. People are stupid.
Glad you brought this up. Just wrapped up World Car Test Drives this week and we drove the latest crop of Chinese competitors to this. Short answer: There is a MUCH bigger story than money. Especially when you are talking cars in the this class. The Chinese competitors are paint by numbers. The have a lot of the features cars like these do. Some of their designs (MG) are decent. However, they don't come together. Especially driving. Add to that a hard fact that I am coming to realize: We are reaching peak new brands. A topic I will cover in a future episode.
@@jpl8878 Honda as Chinese will have solid state before Toyota now. Five years I think they are coming. Meanwhile range extenders will be beat option not to lose value and have long range usability.
No thanks! I will reserve my unfavorable comments! Enjoyed your presentation, well, done, thanks for explaining a vehicle, I wager, few, buyers will want?
It went crazy back in the 2010's when the starting price of a Ford pickup went higher than a fully loaded Honda Accord. This makes perfect sense by comparison. Glorified minivan Tahoes start at 60k and that won't even get you 4WD, and can run easily up to 100k before tax.
No way this guy just said this would be a Tahoe competitor 😂 the lot of you are too comfortable comparing these tiny vans to a body on frame vehicle 😂 sick
Absolutely did. And yes, the Tahoe at the like are real off roader. That said, here's why: The vast majority of folks that buy Tahoes et al do so to cart people around. VERY few of them go off road. Hence, they cross shop against Grand Highlanders, Palisade, etc.
@ i understand what your saying but the competing vehicles you named are more in line with a Chevrolet traverse .. even then, they fall short in terms of size and for some ( equipment).
The GLS would be *much* more expensive to run and repair, especially if you have children who are not kind to trim pieces. There's way more than just purchase price to consider.
I guess some will like it but I genuinely hate the design. Would never consider buying this. Looks like a bad marriage between an SUV and a minivan. Just terrible.
Chevy Tahoe can be had 60k (And that only gets you 2wd) up to 100k before tax. And that's a Chevy pickup with long roof instead of a bed. This seems reasonable when put in context of the rest of the market
Hyundai has a big problem with designing the rear of their big SUV, they copied ford flex for the SANTA and now this rear end design looks like an old volvo suck a disappointment. To make matters worse the spy shots for the upcoming palisade the rear end looks like an old Range Rover Hyundai designers are better than this, come on guys.
My 2023 Palisade is significantly nicer than the more expensive Honda Pilot, Toyota Grand Highlander, Nissan Pathfinder, Chevy Traverse, and Ford Explorer.
I agree that I see Volvo, but I’d call it a futuristic Volvo.

Moto man always gives you the straight goods without the fluff
You are took kind.
3:10 - not quite correct. Hyundai are giving the RWD a WLTP range of 382 miles (620km). It has the longest range of the three models.

Rear looks like a Volvo estate indeed!
This car would look incredible black or black
The rear lights look like the rear lights of the Amazon EV delivery vans.
That headroom above the second row looks almost as high as a school bus!
I hope you get a Macan EV soon to tell us about.
Already drove it. In short: A Porsche it is not.
@@MotoManTV WOW! From the people who brought us the Taycan?

Lamenting over the 'problems' of a triangle front window, and the wheel-arch cladding sure sounds pretty picky to me 🙄
14 mins to get thru an all new vehicle. Bravo. It took Nathan from TFL 37.5 mins! 😂 amateur channel. 😂
I prefer the tech/retro look of the Ionic 5. Looks.a tad too Minecrafty (pixelated?) to me.
Hyundai is bringing back the 90s… That’s not a compliment
4:23 hips more like the pre-2016 Volvo v70/xc70
Not really

Function over form, I guess.
We need more low cost evs. Not more super high cost ones
Why do you say that like they are not making low cost ones?
Kia is coming out with an EV3, which should be around 35k. It's roughly the size of Kia Seltos.
There are already Inster and EV3, what are these thinking?
And nobody wants that 35k ev. And yes, 35 is still a lot of money for many people.
Then buy cheap petrol car with expensive oil. Why you buy ev?
Is it me, Or does the rear look like a Volvo?
The pixel design looks silly. The rear would be beautiful with full LED lines without the silly little squares.
This is a really hard sell especially compared to the new EVs coming out of China.

Just can't justify this now. Solid state is too close. Erev would retain value likely better
Exactly, buying an EV right now feels like buying a laptop in 2004. The next one will be way better in 2 years.
Solid state is not close. That's just what Toyota wants you to believe.

Lots of better options for that kinda dough. Better looking too. This thing looks like it was best by the ugly stick.
Toyota dealers' jealousy exploded in the comments.😂😂😂
The world has officially gone insane when a Hyundai cost $80,000.

Not really, every automaker is going to have an electric car at this price point.
You should realise the reality that other competitors are even more expensive in the same segment.
$60,000 for base model. You’re stuck back in year 2000 and completely clueless how far Hyundai has come.

What kind of his laptop is that, made in the Stone Age?
Can he even carry his laptop around?

Now what in the hell is this 😂😂😂 ... Hyundai and Kia don't give a damn how they cars look ... They just design some shit and throw it out there lmao

The interior looks cheap.
If I was gonna spend 80,000 on a new vehicle right now, I would probably not buy that one!😂
Hyundai/Kia is the absolute worst vehicle company, and I was born in Seoul.
