The theme I’ve chosen and I feels fits quite well is What the Earth 🌍 Provides on our Mystery Places Wednesday
Belitung an island 🏝 off the coast of Sumatra.
A Paradise. The cliched Paradise no one would say no to. Gilligan's Island without the Howells and the Captain. But life expectancy is not paradisiacal. The average male lives 43 years old. Why? The tin mines tell the tale. Mining the earth..
    Knaresborough, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
A magic spring, a witch statue - some fortune teller and visitors leaving hats and shoes and teddy bears strung up by a water fall. Magic? Spring of the earth...
    Miaoshang China 🇨🇳
Holes in the ground? Yes, this is the place of Earth Hole Houses. It has tradition. Feng Shui plays a big role and each underground home is measured, blessed, Feng shuied by a Feng Shui Master. As these types of homes do eventually crumble as earth does, there are actually some traditionalists interested in preserving these homes as hotels.
    The earth shelters...
    Mumbai, India 🇮🇳
Paan. You ever been there, you’ll know. If you don’t, stay tuned for an in-depth look at why there’s red spit everywhere (ewww) it’s so addictive (cheap, stimulating, fresh breath so a 3 for 1 deal, costing around 10 cents) and why there’s a spitting patrol. Well, I can tell you why: it’s absolutely gross. What the earth gives, is spitten back..
    Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 🇧🇷
Carnival. Need we say more? The biggest challenge is keeping your phone and money safe since 8000 thefts happen during one day carnival. Don’t worry. There’s booty and dancing too. Now if that ain’t earthy...
    Enjoy!

      Don't think it's "homemade" fuel.
That's just the method for distributing it, in old soda bottles vs a gas station.
Alot of people ride motorcycles, the soda bottles hold enough for them and since they don't use much fuel, not worth it to drive long distance to reach a pumped gas station.
This method is common in many countries where motorcycles are popular.

Indonesia's climate is similar to most tropical/African climate - hot. They can probably make better money by farming specialty/exotic fruit like durian or coco. But when you have no education and no help from outsiders with experience/knowledge, you don't know how what to do. And instead, they destroy and pollute the land that sustains them. This is very common in 3rd world countries.

Watching these tin miners makes me reflect on my petty job grievances. At the risk of being insensitive, I wonder if there's protective gear they could buy/make?

I thought tin was maybe a byproduct or something from iron industry...so I learnt something , but far out..what a tough way to make a coin..I wish good luck to them.. 🤞

Although I thoroughly enjoy your documentaries the translation of the segment you done about the carnival in Rio leaves a lot to be desired which is OK overall , however, your narrator said that RIO DE JANEIRO roughly translates to "city of God " maybe he got the idea from the film sadly that is completely and utterly wrong. Rio de janeiro translates to January River due to the fact the Portuguese explorers led by Pedro Alvares Cabral reached Rio on January the 1st 1502 and mistook the entrance of the bay for a river thus calling it River of January or as we know it Rio de janeiro.
Ps if you need any help with Portuguese translation give me a shout. 😂

Be a farmer instead of wasting water and corroding the land. Such blind thinking to wash the earth to find tin.

    • @Indonesiansurftravel
      @Indonesiansurftravel 4 ปีที่แล้ว

For those that own the land there is much more money to be made in mining the tin, the workers wouldn't own enough land to farm, they just work to get money in anyway possible.
