*PSI settings* :
10+ psi : bowling ball
10 psi : smile at the keeper
9 psi : *PERFECT*
8 psi : Sunday shots with mates
7 psi : Kicking with the kids
6 psi : found your old soccer ball
Official match balls require between 11.6 to 14.5 psi. Where did 9 come from?
@@ThePersianKing have you kicked a ball at 13psi.. Personally I don’t mind it that much but many will complain with headers and controlling hard shots. I played semi pro years ago and don’t ever remember playing with balls pumped to the max. Understandably some might need more air than others
I use 10 psi
Can confirm that kicking a match ball with the regulation air pressure is like kicking a damn rock
FBjuiceboxFTW you just earned asub
The impression i get when i see the pros play is that the ball is light and really comfortable to kick?
FBjuiceboxFTW my coach pumps our balls to 16 psi in the winter for practice, getting hit with that in the cold is like getting bitchslapped by a brickhouse
I always thought I was alone, or just a huge wimp.
Manual Clicker my ackle just hurts and the shot has no power on it

have a good day
TALIYY thanks bruh
thank you sir
May good bless you
Lol salute to you
Actually, this is really simple. A rock hard ball inflated to max recommended PSI is certainly going to be more dangerous than a ball at or just above the minimum recommended PSI. There recommended range is truly massive on these balls. In fact the ball in this video has a range of 11.6 to 14.5 PSI, and the difference between 11.6 and 14.5 is HUGE. I have used this very ball and can tell you that at 14.5 PSI it is as hard as marble - absolutely no natural give, and the ball will make a "ping" sound whenever it hits anything (which is a telltale sign of a ball that is overinflated). Even for HS players, there is a heightened risk of concussion and contusion when using an overinflated ball. Obviously the risk level decreases with increased skill, but the point still stands. 11.6 PSI is plenty of air for a match ball of this sort. And I can tell you that this same ball at even 12 PSI has a totally different feel - much more natural and true...and you won't get a concussion trying for a volley. For any match ball, keeping the PSI close to or just above the minimum is going to be the right (and perfectly legal) choice for most situations. The balls are already harder and firmer by design - there is no earthly reason to insist on MAX air pressure of 14.6!
And let's not forget the logic behind such a broad acceptable range - if FIFA wanted the game played with a rock-hard ball, the range on a premium match ball such as this would never be so broad, and a match ball like this one would have a range of 13-15 PSI and that would be the end of it. The reason for such a broad range is to account for changes in pressure (Ideal Gas Law) brought about by cold weather situations. Let's say you are pumping up a bag of balls for use in a cold weather match - you might very well pump to close to max PSI in the warm locker room before the game, but only because you know that once those balls are outside they will lose pressure almost instantly. When play starts, you definitely do not want a ball to be at the upper limit, and yes, player safety is one of those reasons. Quality of play is another reason. Frankly, this ought to be common sense.
But if you insist on pumping this ball to 14.5 PSI on a 75 degree day and using that ball in a match, you are fundamentally misunderstanding the logic behind the allowable range, slowing down the game, and putting players at risk.
Yes, an under inflated ball (in this case, below 11.5 PSI) is also not a good idea, but I don't think most of the commenters here are calling for an underinflated ball - they just want a ball inflated to proper PSI that isn't hard as a rock. A properly inflated soccer ball should not "ping" like an overinflated cheap rubber basketball bouncing off a driveway. One's foot shouldn't sting when it makes contact with it.
So in conclusion, these match balls should never be over inflated - and putting 14.5 PSI of air into this type of ball makes sense only in certain situations.
That is, unless there is some kind of macho virtue attached to the idea of a hard ball....
Nice said. I agree
You are absolutely spot on. I spoke with equipment manager of USC soccer team and he said basically the same. Warm weather, hotter turf fields and the ball always expands and gets harder. For quality of play as well as player safety, you do not want a super hard, over inflated ball. You need a little give and cushion when striking or receiving the ball. This is even more important at youth levels as kids often get hit with these balls on shots. As a Coach and Ref, I want the kids to enjoy the sport and learn to have better touches, while not being afraid of the ball.
Ok, if u have the fucking time to write that comment, you deserve to go to jury.
@@matthasabigd3767 hahaha
best pressure is between 9 and 10 PSI and thats it. More pressure and the bladder starts to swell and may deform easily damaging the ball
I never understood why my team was so frustrated with the match balls I brought to games. I would fill them to the recommended/listed pressure. They would always say 'it's too hard and bouncy'... Now I know why. Thanks
everybody reading this have a good day!!!!!!
Jean-Luc de Beixedon thanks man
Ur name leads me another way though
Fuck You fuck u
Fuck You while your name says “ “ lol
Sure.
Thank you for this. Just bought the new Nike Ordem and all the lads were complaining at how hard my ball was this weekend. Had to deflate it slightly from regulation inflation limit so that we could feel like we were playing with a football rather than a meteor.
An over inflated football is never fun to play with, The recommended level is between 8-10 PSI Hard enough to get the correct purchase and reaction from the ball but soft enough that when you kick it, it isn't smashing the small bones in your feet to pieces. I understand i should be harder for professionals but recreational players looking at Professional level PSI isn't the brightest idea, Just play with what you are comfortable with and what makes kicking the ball enjoyable.
That pump is a lil pump
Raresel 4 lmao
Bruh he saw this comment after 2 years damn😂😅
@@pr7902 Yup
Don’t leave me don’t leave
Really appreciate your new dimension about the game, Josh. Maybe you could make more videos about the technical aspect of the game after this? I always wonder if the boots one day will be too advanced to the points its illegal to wear them in games... 😁
I use around 12-13 psi on my footballs. There's nothing worse for me than going in for a laces power shot, and finding the ball is below 9-10 psi. I've hurt my leg doing that. Please get used to a hard ball guys. Once you're used to it, it's so much better.
Vlisto yes
I've been using rock solid balls since I was 5 years old and there's nothing wrong with my leg or anything. It has prepared me for higher-level soccer to kick harder with rock-solid balls.
I also have this type of football
so you use a guage? how do you know the psi?
13 PSI is still far too low
Dont inflate the ball to much as you can actually make it more vulnarable to exploding/literally ripping the upper thing.
Its quite obviouse but something which should be clear to every one!
that ball is simply beautiful, i wish i had that one
Like a Ps game ball without that digital shining though...
thanks for sharing this tip josh , been playing with extremely hard footballs , cheers m8
Yes the changes are evident when they are wet.
The weight of the old leather ball soaked will chsnge significantly.
One of the risks is that the old ball will absorb some of the power therefore slowing the ball down.
The modern ball will initially travel much quicker, this can be one of the factors in causeing brain damage. The amount if energy dissipated when heading a ball that has been struck from not too far away.
Add to this the extra speed when the player is coming forward then applying a forward has movement with their head.
This question was raised due to fact that the goalkeepers are kicking a dead ball well into the oppositions half.
Great advice and information, I liked it. Thanks
Hey josh nice video on ball pumping tutorials. Does it apply the same as a futsal/indoor ball? And as for the pump, what would be a good idea if the needle started to bend/damaged a bit? Should I be continuing to use it or change to a spare one
iirc futsal balls are generally softer or low bounce.
replace the needle, it might snap and get stuck in the valve, pretty shitty experience.
12.5 psi is my go to pressure. Firm, but not a foot buster.
Josh, please do a review of that ball! Iove that ball!
Spent nearly 2 years playing this football and right now only i realised there is a pressure variance range printed .
Amazing
you know a hard ball when you used the mitres at school in england. about 8 years old so toughened and pumped up to max psi. those things hurt and they broke bones
Hey guys, solid review - but a 10 minute video to pump a ball - I little tough for me personally. Hope all is well 💪
Can you make a video about beach soccer balls ? Because I have troubles with mine. Thanks!
Do more on feet review, on turf shoes. Plz
Josh, once you pumped it to how you like it, What psi did that turn out to be?
Funny how wide FIFA's psi range is. FIFA's section on rules about “The Ball,” states that they must be spherical and inflated to a pressure between 8.5 psi and 15.6 psi.
Perfectly 10 min vid thank you soooooo much
Poor goal keepers. )':
PyroJayxX why
PyroJayxX what about headers
What about the defenders while a freekick
As a keeper I can say a hard ball hurts less than a soft ball ;)
Facts
I just watched a video about pumping up a ball.
Well, I also watched a 25 minute Video about rubber socks^^
:D
FIFAs recommended air pressure is anywhere between 8.5 psi-15.6 psi or 0.6 bar-1.1 bar.
why do they pump the ball so hard for professional games? what's the benefit of that?
That's how it's supposed to be. With proper technique and certain level of strength, that's how you want the ball to feel.
Midfield Boss idk
Midfield Boss the ball has a crisper roll and you will feel very close to the ball with your feet
At our school they pump so much air that you cant even press it
Rippers! The ball needs a lot of air if you want to be able to really rip that thing!
do you think it's better to use it underinflated in indoor artificial turf that has walls?
Great video ! Thanks for the info 👍👍
I bounce it from about shoulder height and if it gives a nice healthy bounce above my waist ,its usually best to play with then
hey Josh plz do a comparison of Nike Takedowns and Adidas's Takedowns
A few days ago I was able to buy the Euro Fracas 2016 competition ball on sale here in Canada, which is a replica of the match ball. It has the highest FIFA Quality Pro Rating.
Till now I have never filled a soccer ball to max regulation pressure. So I thought I will try for this one. The panel says 11.6 to 14.5 PSI and I took it upto 14.5. The other balls I have were rated at 7 to 10.5 PSI. I also have a TANGO Pasadena which is rated at 11.6 to 14.5 and I never tried more than 11 PSI on it.
I went and had a good practice session and to my surprise I was able to hit the ball just fine, actually with the right technique used, the Fracas was flying.
So my advise to players is go for a good pressure and improve technique.
Can you do more soccer tutorials for tricks, freestyle and more...
Wow. Super insightful. Pump the ball until it feels right. Who knew??
We want a video that shows the correct ball pressure using a hand sense
Because I do not have a pressure gauge
You just want a ball that feels good to you, for me I like my ball flat, I bit flatter then it was at 3:16.
@@Ash-zp7ey
You mean solid like a pro
Bro same
Where's the deals of the week
I need some deals
For anyone who might want to check the air pressure in a ball, you can purchase a pressure gauge made specifically for sports balls.
Saves any guesswork.
i measure it by how much it bounces of the ground when i drop it from shoulder height
Is it best to train with a harder ball?
I just asked you about this a couple of days ago.... thanks man!
Hey Josh please do a review on nike hypervenom x proximo ii ic in the Strike Night Colorway
hey josh, what can you do to remove creases from a match ball that was shipped deflated? I imagine it won't affect performance but aesthetics are key
Most of the creases should go away over time just d=from the ball being fully inflated. There really isn't anything you can do beyond that.
Thank you it was helpful
How can I measure the pressure of the soccer ball? I mean there is the manometer but is it expensive? And where can I buy one?
When I started playing with regulation pumped up balls, it took about 2 weeks before my feet got used to the hardness of the ball. But I gotta say, now that I've played with more pumped up balls, I really don't like it when a ball is soft.
which one i should buy
Thanka man.. It"s help me.... To remove extra pump from my ball..
with nike strike and nike ordem 4 footballs, if you pump them to much the needle gets "shot out" to reduce the risk of explosion, although that is extremely unlikely
Hey Josh I've had a pair of magista opus 1s which were the perfect shoe for me, and I was wondering how the opus 2 compared. I've watched all your videos on the opus 2 and it looks a lot different from the 1s. should I get the 2s or do you think there is a better option more like the opus 1s
Andy O'Toole I think you should go for another opus 1. It looks better in my opinion and it feels better as well. And it will also be cheaper since it's an older boot. Hope this helped you
SnowMan the problem is I have credit to a store for $230 and unfortunately they don't have any opus 1s in my size. If I could do that I would've already
They're almost entirely different. I personally prefer the original Opus.
Josh please do a review on BV Sport compression sleeves.
There are better options like the Opus 1... Certain stores still have them in a various sizes but I do think some Under Armour boots along with Nike Tiempo Legend 6 are good options too.
Can you review the hypervenom 3 ic
He Xx he said he will do it later

8 psi for new match balls. 9 psi before 2014 match balls. I have bought around 25 match balls since 2008
how can it be 8 when the recommended is 8.5?
Hi Josh, on my new UCL matchball, I notice that on one of the star panels, there's a small cut about 1/4 inch in length. It isn't very deep, and resembles a wound you get from a paper cut. Do you think this is something I should be concerned about? Is this cut going to get worse when I take it out to the pitch and kick it?
That can happen with any ball. As long as the ball is still holding it's air normally, it's just on the surface and nothing to worry about.
Hey can someone Plz tell me the pros and cons of using a football which is lighter than the normal
As a referee, it is not taught either . Before every match I have done I make sure balls being used for the match have enough air. What I do is put enough air so that it not to flat but not too hard when i squeeze it. My friend who also officiates soccer, she said to fill it with enough air so that if you squeeze the ball with your hands, your fingers don't move push into the ball to much.
Some of my mates are obsessed. The ball is like a cannon each morning.
Thanks!!
Thank you very much I just bought a new ball
Thanks brother
Hey Josh, random question. Any chance you know if pro players play with regulation "rock" soccer balls?
They use regulation air pressure.
Any way I can get replacement insoles for the mercurial superfly 5 mine ripped
They don't sell stock Nike insoles unfortunately.
Josh will you ever get some Nike IDs?
Nathan Z he already has
Stephan Kitsos I know but not the latest boots
I've done a number of videos on Nike iD boots.
Soccer Reviews For You have you done the hypervenom 3 superfly 5 or magista obra 2?
What is the sound inside air filled football
Where did you buy that ball brother
Where do you get this ball
Hi Josh, I have cafusa match ball and the valve is leak now, can you resolve my problem? I always use it for juggling session and need pump every 30 minutes. That so exhausted...thank you so much
There really isn't much you can do about that. You can't really fix a leak.
Thanks josh
Is the inflated ball soft?
Josh do training balls like the Nike strike need less air than a official ball like the Adidas Brazuca?
Like I explain in the video, there is a recommended pressure range listed on the ball, which can differ from one ball to another. With that said, any ball should be pumped to the point where it is relatively firm. You never want the ball to feel soft or like your foot is sinking into the ball upon a strike.
I have a select brilliant ball how air i can put?
Josh can you please do an updated room tour like your room where you always record. not the boot room/basement
Definitely a possibility.
Hey Josh!
I use Adidas, Nike and Select match balls from the recent years. I usually pump them to 1.0, sometimes 1.1 bar, so they are really hard. Can this damage the ball? I mean can the panels come off?
As long as you're within the recommended pressure variance listed on the ball, you shouldn't have to worry about anything.
Soccer Reviews For You OK, that's good to hear :)
when you do a vid about the hypervenom strike night proximo/indoor
Sometimes I fill so much air that it become like stone
Can i use the same insole that you can buy at footlocker with football boots?
You would have to see how they fit your boots. They'd need to be pretty thin and you would have to cut away quite a bit to match the shape of the original insoles in order for them to fit properly.
Soccer Reviews For You Thanks for the respond
thank you sir have a good say

Can i use any needle to deflate the ball? Or only the pump's needle
I wouldn't stick anything that wasn't a pump needle into the valve.
How much air pressure if you only want to juggle
Hi! My soccer balls says i should apply between 8 and 12 psi. I can only add air to the ball in a gas station which shows the PSI. How much i should put so it doesnt feel like a rock? ty!
Just go by the feel.
Whever my ball hits a pebble or something it makes a sounds like "tung" is it normal??
Hey josh, just wanted to know if the adidas X takedown models have the FG/AG stud configuration, or is it only for the top end models.
Joey Zelnut the stud pattern is exactly the same (while the materials are not)
Tea Kay can you still use them on both ground types? (AG/FG)
Joey Zelnut the shape and lenghts determimes performance on AG and because they're the same: yes you can.
Joey Zelnut yeah you can, I have the X 16.3 and the stud pattern is the same and it works really well on both turf and natural grass
They do.

Would you mind helping me find out where I could buy a pair of Nike mercurial vapor superfly 2, I see it on the right bottom corner of your video, the purple boot with the orange tick it's literally my favourite boot I've ever owned. I'd die to have another pair. Regards
Ebay would be your best bet at this point. Beware of counterfeits though.
Soccer Reviews For You / Do you sell any of the boots on display ??
Hey Josh I was just wondering if you ever had the issue of the Nike ProximoX or any of the boot variations having small rips on the sock area where the laces tie up??
Not at all.
Soccer Reviews For You Ah well I've had mine for less than a month and small holes are starting to appear under the laces...should I return them?
Are you referring to the lace holes?
Soccer Reviews For You Are there lace holes in the sock part as well as externally on the synthetic?
What does the pros use?
What ball is that?
Josh I recently purchased Superfly Vs size 7.5 US from a website. My first session with them was painful, I couldn't keep them on any longer after about 20 minutes. I've tried to play with them 2 more times after to the same result. Is this a size issue or is this just part of the process of breaking in Superflys Vs? My feet measure 10 inches in lenth, and I'm flat footed. Thanks.
What specifically hurts? Without more specific information, I can't really help you.
My toes, I can barely move them.
thanks ♥️⚽
My question is how much does the champions league soccer ball air pressure has
thanks bro
When we fill ball we use oxygen whats difference between heliem and o2
Nothing. There isn't enough air in the ball versus the physical weight of the ball, for the type of air inside to make any kind of a significant difference. Helium is lighter than regular air, but the weight difference between the air and the helium that would fit in the ball is extremely minimal.
*In an official top league/competition match like premier league, la liga, champions league etc do they pump the ball to the minimum, middle or maximum of the recommended pressure?*
I would think that's up to the referee. If I had to guess, probably closer to the minimum.
Actually depend on the competition. La liga, premier league use 0,9bar, Champions league use 1.0 bar. Here in Chile, 0,8bar with nike ordem 4.
There are a few videos in which show how much air they put in the ball !
Tomas Jofre show me how you know this.
Tomas Jofre show me where you got this info
I just buy a ball, pump it, check it by bouncing it a few times and get on with the play
My ball is only 8 to 12 psi recommendation. I checked it and it was 15 psi😬 was about to burst
