I've been lucky enough to have never had a ball stolen, or really crazily focused on where the ball is the whole time haha. Thank you for this video! Just last night I got the Euro 2024 ball and played it for first time today. This will help keep my ball in good shape for a good couple of years probably!
hey Josh, do you have any tips for travelling by air with a match ball? I’ve previously heard that it’s best to deflate the ball but after watching the video, I’m not sure partial/completely deflating it is a good idea
I frequently travelled back with OMB purchased from overseas in my checked luggage. Yes, partially inflate the OMB (to keeps the shape roughly round temporarily until you can inflate it properly at home). Do not try to pack your OMB in carry-on unless you want to deflate fully it in front of TSA officers
I have two select super match balls. And they are a dream to play with. I also have the forte fybrid 2NCAA match balls. Which are also nice. But the stitched ball feels a bit "smoother "
I really cant agree on the air pressure. Whenever i would go off feel, they wouldnt last over a year with average use. As soon as i got an air pressure meter for balls and putting the correct pressure, usually 13-14 psi which is what the pros do, i havent had a problem since. My oldest match ball is now atleast 5 years old and still in perfect condition. I would strongly encourage people to buy one, one simple investment could make them last longer.
Problem is for actual match balls the ref will almost always say a ball with any proper give is no good and only accept a rock solid over inflated ball, at least in my experience with my youth team. Then the size 4 balls are size 5 within a year from constant over inflation.
I dont anyone with a full time job and kids to still have time to play daily but i do play on average 8-9 days of the month, before i would play atleast have the time just because i had the freedom. plus over the years getting many match balls you can rotate. Plus i take care of them n not just leave them out or play on crappy pitches, mostly well kept grass fields.
@@betoortiz9754 Yeah but for a high school athlete or something that has practice every day with the same ball I think it's apparent 5 years isn't realistic. Even if you never use it, something can randomly happen to it for 5 years lol.

I got lucky with my needle breaking. The needle part didn't snap in half but instead it cam off of the threaded part since the needle and threads were two different segments. All it took was some pliers and there was zero damage
This was very useful. I have a question though, what about washing machine-stitched balls? I know thermally bonded balls are basically water-tight so they can be washed hassle-free. But what about stitched balls and especially machine-stitched balls? Will water get in? Should they only be cleaned with a wet towel, avoiding direct water flow on them? Thanks. P.S. Is it true that match balls, since they're meant for pro matches and not training, won't last as long as "less pro" variations? If someone has had experience with this, would you say thermally bonded balls are really worth it over stitched ones? I recently got the Al Rihla WC 2022 Training ball, without realizing the next step, the League, was only a few bucks more. I've read somewhere that low-end thermally bonded balls are no good.
@@davinhamad depends on the money you want to spend, I personally bought the €35 one. If you have that little more money the €60 one is a really good one too. I would stay away from the glider models since for €10 more you get a much better ball.

I cant tell you why, but my Adidas Matchballs don't last, the Puma, Nike and Derbystars do. Got the Torfabrik that looks like the Brazuca and later the 2017 CL Matchball. The Torfabrik ball started early to lose its bonded patterns and some of the stars on the UCL Ball peeled off very quickly. Compared to the Nike Ortem and my Puma Final that I play regularly, the Adidas durability was not really great. Maybe I am just unlucky 🤷🏼♂️
Okay, but my child's Puma IMS matchball from 2 years ago was size 4 and is now size 5+. Some balls slowly get bigger at match pressure! Maybe storage at 0.2-0.3 Bar would have been better in that case.
In terms of creases, one of my beloved footballs have some creases and am wondering if there’s something I could try to do to remove them? I didn’t purchase it from a retailer btw it was a birthday present
hey josh , i only use my official match ball for freestyle and I put a little air on it or i have to put full air in the ball , if i put a little air, does it have any effect on the bowels of the ball
If it's a Match Ball, then intense contact with Concrete can Damage it. It all depends on what activities are done on Concrete with the ball. If you're just using the ball flat on the concrete surface then it should be fine, the only thing with that is, over time the details and markings on the ball will begin to fade away. However, if you're using the ball and constantly hitting it against the wall, then that would really damage the interior of the ball. So just know how you're using the ball on concrete. The best thing you can do is look for a ball that can be used on both grass and concrete. These types of balls are usually manufactured with Rubber on the Outside but the interior is made like every other ball.
how to deflate using a needle? I am inserting the needle slowly until I hear the sound of the air, then I apply some pressure, but the air coming out last for 10-15 seconds max and it is very slowly coming out... In the past, once the needle is inserted, the ball deflate.. The Select Brilliant Super TB ball is not deflating... Any trick needed?
So if I leave my bag full of match balls in it for along period of time it should not damage the balls at all, because I currently have match balls in a ball bag in my room so i was wondering whether they are ok to be left like that or should I leave each ball separately outside the ball bag?
