Excellent video series. I appreciate seeing your testing done both in-house against a wall to compare beam patterns and intensity and in real-world side-by-side photos to compare throw and spread. It'd be nice to continue seeing those done in an area with greater depth and peripheral objects like in your "We Found the Best and the Brightest! | Baja Designs LP9 Pod Light Shootout" video. Hope to see ARB's Intensity V2 (32 or 21 LED) and Solis (36 or 21) thrown into the mix soon. Both are offered in flood and spot configurations.
Awesome videos and thank you for spending the time and money. However, some of the brands experienced a bit of a disservice here. Pretty much everyone except for diode dynamics, morimoto and, the wild card mention, pro comp. Pro comp should be glad they were even invited to the party. I really liked all the lights you showed. But, for “spot” then it should be all dedicated spot optics throughout with no periphery lighting. So, I would have liked to have seen: Baja Designs XL racer edition, Baja designs XL sport; Diode Dynamics SS5 sport and SS5 pro; VisionX 6.7” CG2 single source LED, KC Highlights Pro6 Gravity single light; Rigid Industries XL hyperspot and XL spot and the Morimoto Bigbanger series. For the “combo” then take the above mentioned Baja Designs, Diode Dynamics and morimoto. Pull the spot lenses out and drop in “combo.” Then, show the VisionX 6.7” CG2 multi led and visionx 6.7” adv, KC hilights gravity pro6 driving sense they don’t have a combo, Rigid Industries XL driving sense they don’t have a combo. The amber vs white was great to see. Truly a great video and I enjoyed the content dispite a few discrepancies. However, most are not putting out this kind of lighting content and I appreciate it.
Great, detailed, professional comparison. I would have LOVED to see the comparison charts also including the price and to be clear about the price for one or two lights. I know you covered the price in the dialogue but having it in the summary would have been very helpful for me.
I think you mixed up the Diode Dynamics lights during the spot test. Their Sports are the lower output, cheaper versions. Their Pros are the higher output, more expensive options.
Cool comparison! It would've been great if you compared the vision x cg2 6.7 single LED. It most likely would've been at the top as far as candela and lux numbers go. The Diode Dynamics Driving pattern is also much closer to the Morimoto BB Combo pattern. The DD combo pattern is flood light pattern on 2/3rd's of the light.
Crazy how much theae prices have changed in just that last 11 months. Baja design are 600 plus and the morimoto are 495 and the diode dynamics are 600 for 2. Definitely think the diode dynamic are the best bang for your buck

When you did your night measurements, were you using pairs or just one for each test? I've been on the fence with Diode Dynamics SS5 Pros in amber. I have their SS3 Pros and those things have been a god send for me especially during heavy precipitation of any kind. I have amber so it doesnt throw as much light back at me but i need it powerful enough to throw into the distance to try and spot those damn deer before they go full kamikaze mode and just general debris that my normal lights might not illuminate until its too late.
Wish the diode dynamics ss5 MAX light was used for the combo testing. Strange how the sport version is the brightest spot but i believe diode would be higher on the combo list if the MAX version was used

I would love to see these compared to the Lazer Lamps Sentinel 7" Elite. Also a comparison of 9" lights and 20" and 50" light bars! Please, and thank you.
May I ask you why didn’t you guys show or measure Diode dynamics Driving beam pattern which is actually similar to combo beam of Morimoto. I saw the 2 chip pod lights comparison as well, there also you guys haven’t mentioned or shown the driving beam pattern of Diodedynamics. And lastly performance with bang for the buck look at Stedi TypeX evo lights, Those things will blow away all the lights which you have shown in your video.
@@HeadlightRevolution Morimoto themselves mention on their website that their Combo beam meets SAE J581 regulation and Diodedynamics also mention the same for their driving beam pattern. That means you should be comparing Diode dynamics driving and Morimoto combo beam. If the name says combo doesn’t mean both combos should be compared. Common guys, you put in lot of effort to make these videos, then why not show the right stuff.
I think you might be mistaken, a combo beam pattern would not be SAE-compliant. However, the 4Banger wide beam photometrics are SAE F 20 compliant - only driving beams should be compliant with road standards. Combo and spot beams should never be used to supplement driving beams since they do not have a proper cut-off.
Any chance you guys could do a test/comparing lights from a company called COLIGHT? I know there are so many Chinese light companies out there but without actually testing you never know if it’s a “worthy “ purchase for a lower budget .. Auxbeam ,Auxcitoox, COLIGHT, … I do understand you can get what you pay for but as we see even higher end lights with I’ll say higher price points doesn’t mean their the best. I’m surprised at how poorly the KC’s did. Thanks! And definitely enjoy your videos
Awesome reviews. Only thing. Are you sure that 5” pro comp light is not the 7” model? I looked it up and the only 5” pro comps I find look a little different and the 7” models look just like the one show here. Can you send me the link for the pro comp light please? Again, great video comparison!
Any comparisons or tests on the 6" KC Slimlites LED? And also with the Amber cover? Their website is claiming 250,000 candela and are only $190 per light. Debating on Slimlite w/amber cover VS BigBanger HXB Combo Amber, huge price difference.
We've done testing with KC in the past, but not in the recent videos. Though it is worth noting KC is high-quality, and they tend to make great products.
@@HeadlightRevolution Vision x and Morimoto as well as most of these lights are made in China too 😂. Baja designs and rigid might be the only exceptions.
Am I missing something? Did a certain company with a lifetime warranty not make the combo table because of their name or what? If there isn’t a mistake I know which brand I’m getting.
@@2Greenlidit’s in the other comment. If you watch the whole video you will see they left them out of the table listed at the end while their numbers came out on top.
Rough country is decent for budget lighting but not in the same league as most of these brands as far as performance, a step up from Nilight but that's about it
Morimoto just competing with the sun at this point 😂😂
Love this!
They're trying 😎
They established shop and made it the sun's problem 🤣

The LP6 has the best light pattern. Output is not the only thing

Great suggestion!
I think you mixed up the Diode Dynamics lights during the spot test. Their Sports are the lower output, cheaper versions. Their Pros are the higher output, more expensive options.
If you look at their site they admit the sports are a brighter spot because of their light spread
im happy im not the only one who notice lol but im suprise the the answer also...

Using a single pod for testing.
@@HeadlightRevolution blimey! In that case 2 of those SS5s focused on a certain distance in front of the car should really be a killer setup!

Wish the diode dynamics ss5 MAX light was used for the combo testing. Strange how the sport version is the brightest spot but i believe diode would be higher on the combo list if the MAX version was used
Try Lazerlamps from the UK. 5 stars, its expensive😊
Wish you guys would have tested the Diode dynamics MAX pods, which are actually their highest output model, not the pro's. Otherwise, good video

Again Morimotos hands down the best for candela and size and price.
Morimoto is always a solid choice!
I'd like to see how these compare to a newer brand called Dark Defense made here in the USA.
We can try to include them in future videos!
the procomp measured the highest but you didnt include it in the chart at the end?
either way, super informative! thank you!
Must've slipped through the cracks for the final chart, thank you regardless!
They forgot the nilight and the pro comp Wich is the best budget. I think the have some partnership with Morimoto.
What i learned from this video is that KC has really fallen away from it's legendary status
Probably the best video to date!

Can you test kchilights flex era 4. I think those look good in a combo beam.
We can put it on the list!

Could you guys to do an “update” to this vid and include the new Harbor Freight’s Road Shock Edge lights??
We can, but they won't compare to the brightest pods in this video.

great videos, be even better to see the lights at a distance of a half mile or a mile.

Is one big banger combo beam enough? Or is it necessary for a pair?

By sv4 you mean supernova 4 right?
This comment is for your led headlight video you did this year

I have no idea what is back light 💡 😊
A back light is kind of like a DRL, it stays lit when the vehicle is on but the pods aren't at full power function.
What about the rigid Q series

Why is Rigid even a contender? They're low quality, they have a cheap looking blue hue, and the pod design is outdated
Because they're still a pretty popular choice for those off-road boys!
