Hold on... lets think about this a bit more. The guy buys the beautiful car, which even when new, was known for its quirkiness. As it said in the video, he moved a few times. I'd be willing to bet that 5 years after the car was built, it was virtually impossible to find anyone competent to work on it, or the parts necessary to fix the car. (This is pre-internet time.) The owner obviously liked and drove it, he bought new tires for it at one point! (The tire labels aren't from when the car was new - they are long gone by the time a new car gets to a dealership.) While I'd like to have seen the car cared for better too, at least the owner didn't leave it outside to rot, and he got in touch with Larry to have it fixed up. I'm gonna cut him some slack.
I was QC supervisor at the assembly plant in Saint John, NB Canada when the first car rolled of the assembly line and was there when we got word that the plant was closing due to the Provincial Government no longer financing the manufacturer. Everything was fiberglass except the tubular frame underneath, the passenger compartment and the gullwing door frames. The carpets were not green but a tan, matching the interior. It was a good idea to change from hydraulic to air system door openers that were changed by others years later. We had the occasional hydraulic line break during assembly testing which made a huge mess. Overall it was a beautiful, powerful car. i wish I had one.

This is what happens when you have more money then sense. This owner should have sold it years ago instead of letting it rot away. Me thinks someone has a hoarding problem.
When I used to do cable, I really appreciated when the homeowners went ahead and cleaned any area I was going to be working in if it was full of stuff, that way I wouldn't have to climb around anything, or take my time to wait for them and me to clean the place before I could work.
Kudos for taking the Bricklin on and making it look that good. It's scary people let their investments fall in such a sorry state, but of course it opens up opportunities for you.
They’ve really jumped in price. They were quite cheap. I just looked them up and found one in Florida for $55K. Wouldn’t surprise me if TH-cam made them desirable.
About 30 years ago I saw a Bricklin at a museum it was pretty impressive and it reminded me of another car called the Delorean which was the car in the Back to the future movies.
I'm 10th. Btw, I absolutely love watching your detailing videos and often argue with my friends that these are indeed therapeutic. But as expected none of em agree with me. 😔
Question: aren´t you compromising the paint job by cleaning with a towel on Step 1? You certainly have lubrication from the foam but there is nasty dirt undernees
In the mid to late 80’s my family would go to the same campground for a few weeks every summer. Next to the campground was a museum with random antique stuff, and one of these cars was on display. I’d go there just for the Bricklin, several times every summer.

I love that he said the doors broke and trapped people. His skills are amazing but tbh I'd have put a match to it 😂
Awesome, job ! Great detail and can tell this was extremely painstaking and many long hours ! ❤
I can't believe you got to clean a Bizzarrini P538 at 6:14. Those are so very incredibly rare. Really Good job on the disgusting Bricklin. I absolutely love the cool Tiesto soundtrack. Thank you.
Thats why you're a cleaning legend. I think most people would just turn around and say NO on this one lol
“The next day and after I’ve burned my clothes...” - You made my Wife and I cry Larry, it was hilarious, thank you so much, it was a very good one!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
I’m so happy he said that. I was thinking it. My skin was itchy and I almost felt like I could cough up mouse fur. I have been cleaning up flooded basements houses for the past week after Ida tore through my part of the country, I can relate.
@@caseykittel Hurricane Ida?? You live in New York?
They just cleaned the interior andvthe exterior of the car, but not the engine…. Lmao… 🤣
I love to watch the passion ❤️🔥 you put in your work if our world could be ruled and lead this way what a better world we would be living in. Nice work
Lol, I didn’t know CT was big enough for part of it to be considered “upstate.” (Ps I live in CT)
Where I'm from, anything north of Waterbury was considered upstate.
@@Rendclaw especially that everything north of waterbury is like all farm land
Your work on that was more than a challenge! Super disgusting. Please throw away everything what came in contact with this car. You just made an incredible work mate!
Piece of history. I can think of another phrase that would be equally applicable. Great vid, as always 👍
"Defunkification" that is definitely a word I will be using in the future. Your work is amazing. I thought I was the queen of clean...until I watched this video. I'd be a close second because I would have run for the hills after finding the critter nests and maggots. Yuck!
The barn finds are my favourite videos! I bet seeing the car fixed up beautifully brought back a lot of memories for that man 💙🇨🇦
I remember your video of washing your wife’s car in front of your house after vacation, now look at your set up! Good for you man!
reminds me a Delorean, great transformation 😎👍
This ought to be a good one 🍿
Love these barn finds
Kudos for taking the Bricklin on and making it look that good. It's scary people let their investments fall in such a sorry state, but of course it opens up opportunities for you.
I love it when people find older cars like this and bring them back to life. I wish I could afford a car like the Bricklin CV-1.
CV-1?
Cool Vehicle 1?
They’ve really jumped in price. They were quite cheap. I just looked them up and found one in Florida for $55K. Wouldn’t surprise me if TH-cam made them desirable.
would've loved to see the owners reaction when you showed him his spare set of keys
I was actually waiting for the ending … he prob forgot to ask lol or add it in the clip , ah well
It's always heartwarming to hear the owner's comments 😁
😂
Just another reason why you are the GOAT! Amazing transformation.
I appreciate that!
It looks like an American Triumph TR7-Alfa Romeo GTV6 hybrid with a V8 motor. I love it so much, great restoration :)
About 30 years ago I saw a Bricklin at a museum it was pretty impressive and it reminded me of another car called the Delorean which was the car in the Back to the future movies.
This will get over a million views
Then back to garage for another 20 Years ...
13:40 After I burned my clothes 😂
That Bricklin is so cool! Especially this tiny rearquarter window...awesome 70s!
Wonderful job. I’m glad those doors didn’t hurt anyone.
I call BS on the story the owner gave re when he got it
All Love for the Obscurity!
I'm 10th. Btw, I absolutely love watching your detailing videos and often argue with my friends that these are indeed therapeutic. But as expected none of em agree with me. 😔
Holy crap! Is that Robin Leech of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous? Wow, haven't seen him in years! So you really found 2 classics!
Have been watching these guys for awhiie....love the professional attitude..great job here!!..
Too rusty to remove the seats, sounds like too lazy to remove them to me
... or too busy with other priorities.
Question: aren´t you compromising the paint job by cleaning with a towel on Step 1? You certainly have lubrication from the foam but there is nasty dirt undernees
The very first thing I would have done was ozone the hell out of the interior to kill any mold spores and the smell.
Enjoyed learning about this car. As always, what a fabulous job you did! Thank you for your content.
I remember Bricklin when they came out, almost bought one then came to my senses. good job on the cleaning.
In the mid to late 80’s my family would go to the same campground for a few weeks every summer. Next to the campground was a museum with random antique stuff, and one of these cars was on display. I’d go there just for the Bricklin, several times every summer.
Sad that the owner just left it to rot like that. Good on you for rescuing it. I've never seen a real one.
I would have been more happy if the owners allowed the car to be restored completely , so that this beauty could Roar on the roads
This is like cleaning the entire Earth and finding out we’ve all been living on The Death Star…
Thanks for all the stories Larry. I can only imagine the sentimental value these cars hold.
