  • Not many people make videos going over how they setup their custom chassis harnesses and custom fuse and relay panels, I figured this video would help others attempting the same job. This took about 3-4 months to understand the cars wiring, and make two successful versions. You guys can leave a comment with any questions OR suggestions on my setup! I also respond to DM on my instagram which is linked below!

    Please Keep in mind that organization and clean routing is KEY! During the period that I filmed this video I was still adding new wiring and finalizing circuits, looming wires and more. The current setup is a tad different, I've added circuits for more lighting, and even a spare circuit for a water sprayer in the future. The 12-fuse strip was rated for 100 amps. I removed it and ran two 6-fuse strips from the same brand rated to 100 amps each (200amps). I've also added a circuit breaker to the main power cables of the panel for extra safety. This was very easy to do because I stayed organized and labeled everything. Please watch the video below to see the current state of my fuse and relay panel!!

      It’s pretty simple, alt has three connections. Power, which is a battery cable run from alt to battery. Ground, which is connected to bare metal in the bay. Lastly is the alt connector . It has two pins, one pin is constant power from battery and the other is a circuit with a light bulb (charging light).

    Stupid question I’m sure, but I see one set of fuses. Are those high amp fuses for the relays or are those fuses powering the switches (relay inputs). Where I’m confused (on all videos) is do you need fused power to switches AND fused power to the relay? Thanks for making this video; very helpful!

    • @kriswyche
      @kriswyche  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No question is stupid. The entire switch panel is run off one 7.5amp relay, my switches are ONLY used to activate the relays. Power goes into the switch and through the relay and then to ground (activating it) Since all they do is turn on/flip the relays, the amperage draw is extremely low.

    • @kriswyche
      @kriswyche  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let’s take the fuel pump for example. The fuse rating for the pump is 15amps. When I hit the fuel pump switch, that switch powers the relay. Then it allows power to go through a 15amp fuse on the fuse strip, then it travels through the relay, and to the distribution block. Then from there the power wire goes to the fuel pump, then it follows the ground wire back to the left side of the fuse strip (ground side). On the top you can see all grounds route there and then I ground it out on a piece of (metal/chassis).

      @@kriswyche thank you so much! I like your elegant solution to power the switches with one fused line. But do most people (keeping it basic for me) power their switch from a separate fuse panel. I see lots of videos on relay panels but they never talk about the source of the switch power. I’m imagining there is a separate fuse panel for that simple switch which ultimately ends up at the relay switch in power correct?

    • @kriswyche

    How is starter wired up? I’m in the process of building a car with no chassis harness and was wondering how you hook up a push start button

    • @kriswyche
      @kriswyche  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you have the starter motor and attached to it is the starter solenoid which is basically just a huge heavy duty relay. The battery cable goes right to that solenoid and then there is one wire that when powered will close the solenoid and crank the starter. Lookup 240sx starter wiring diagram, that should help

    • @kriswyche
      @kriswyche  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In terms of how I did it. I used a multimeter and found out which wires in the ignition barrel (where key goes) are connected when I turn the key all the way. Then I sent power into the barrel, and when the key is fully turned it acts as a switch and power goes into barrel and out to the starter solenoid. Also since I wired my ecu. I tapped the starter solenoid wire and used an inline fuse so ecu can get a start signal.
