That’s an interesting wizard staff ya got there, Gale. Hope it’s got some magical properties because it doesn’t look like ya can bludgeon someone with it.
That ending scene with Withers makes me wish Larian had given us a DLC to expand on that new role. Still, I'm thankful for what they gave us, one of the best games ever.
That new role probably hss something to do with afterlife or reincarnation, a mystery to even the likes of Jergal & in themselves, huge projects that won't be revealed for years to come, thus making it near impossible for Larian to make a dlc without making the whole thing look rushed & cheap.
*Goin into this video thinking I was gonna see some sad shit* Me, 7 seconds into the video: **WHY IS GALE NAKED TF!!?!** lmaoo Although it is rather sweet that there's almost a 4th-wall breaking convo the player can have in choices when Karlach is thinking to herself. I know that she is a rather 4-wall breaking character in general but I saw one of the last choices that could be made before she blows up has the player talking to her and calling her 'honey' compared to a few other choices that just refer to 'I'
Yes, that thing with Gale was a small accident. He was replaced by Minthara a long time ago, I needed his gear for another companion, had completely forgotten about him because he wasn't in the main group anymore, and suddenly he appeared in the scene...
This is the first time I've teared up with this game... Why are we given such tragic stories? Heavy Rain, RDR1 & 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and most endings of BG3...I can't help but play games with great stories, but tragic endings like this remind me of my crippling depression and frequent wishes to "let go" ...I really gotta stop watching stuff like this. I don't know how much more sadness I can take
Yes, I can understand and relate to your point. At the same time, this is also confirmation of how exceptionally well the characters and their storylines were written.
How "out of character" did you have to act as Karlach in order to get Astarion to approve of you enough for romance? Those two seem like opposite ends of the alignment chart most of the time.
You don't have to act out of character. His approvals outweigh his disapprovals of heroic actions. You can also get him to have sex with you at neutral approval ( giving you an opportunity for +10 approval by allowing him to bite you during sex ) you just have to follow a particular dialogue tree. I believe you select the "knowing you it probably is" when he says something about wanting to have fun
Actually, I didn't play Karlach too out of character in Act 1. I saved the Grove and saved Halsin. Because she's burning, and literally just too hot, she can't start a true romance in Act 1 like Tav can - all scenes are a bit different. For Astarion approval, right after recruiting him on the beach, I do 4 consecutive partial long rests. That triggers the scene where he tries to bite me, and then the scene where he wonders what the others would taste like. This way, I get 19-20 approval on the beach before even entering the Grove. Since Karlach is very hot, Astarion can't bite her either, which she's actually sorry about - she would have liked to help him. On the other hand, there are certainly toxic moments between Karlach and Astarion. For example, Astarion can be quite mean to Karlach when they go into the woods together and he realizes he can't sleep with her because she's on fire. Conversely, as an Astarion Origin character, you can begin a romance with Karlach and be extremely toxic towards her, say mean things to her, cheat on her with Mizora, but she still always stays with him or Tav.
You can get high approval + romance Astarion the same way you do any companion: being nice to him and helping him with his problems. Also his tastes aren't just full "lmao chaotic evil," he also gives approval when you do mischief, defy authority, and deliver righteous vengeance on people. I got him proposing me for sex on a resist Durge cleric of Ilmater (goodie two shoes) and he never did a thing wrong or mean (well I mean...besides The Incident)
I find that larian made openings for all characters in different situations where a dlc can work Yet still they said not to make a dlc so I am confused why they left all these endings with an open page 🤔 Maybe for us to fill in the blanks with our own fantasy
I'm not sure about that. Karlach Origin has a story issue with ascended Astarion. He cannot make her a spawn - the romance breaks off. That's why I'm not sure if he can also say that as a 'friendship'.
Ah sorry, now i get it! The timeline and continuity in the Karlach origin finale is a bit broken: First he runs away from the sun - then the romance comes in the Elfsong Tavern - suddenly Astarion is back in the Elfsong Tavern - then the game jumps back to the jetty - suddenly he no longer has any sun problems.
Never liked how Withers uses incredibly broken Middle English. It's like how a grade schooler would do it. Withers himself is great, love him, but holy moly this lad never passed his courses. Definitely stinks at keeping records of the dead. Probably can't read.
Do you even old English? I'm not a native English speaker/reader but I read books from early xxth century and before and it was in the same "strange" English as Withers's. So technically it give a glimpse of how old this creature is .
@@TheSlainGuitar it's mostly his improper usage of the second person. "Thou" exclusively goes with the verbs ending in "-st." It is a singular number and second person construction, and not anything else. An example sentence of proper usage is "Thou hast a basket." Withers seems to use "thou" and the singular second person verb frivolously in-game, and it irritates me. You're a foreigner, so I'll forgive your trespass against the rich history of my tongue. What language is yours, so I can make a reasonably mocking comparison?
@@TheSlainGuitar old English is not middle English. Old English would be Ænglish, the language of the Anglo-Saxons. If Withers were speaking in Ænglish, you wouldn't be able to understand him unless you were a scholar of the language.
I might mock Latin, for example, and say "Vos habēs" but apparently it doesn't matter because we can just mingle numbers of pronouns willy nilly because who cares about the internal consistency of a language?
to think that even Astarion proposes to go to hell with Karlach, by himself... that`s something breathtaking

@@kimtollefsen4078 I was wondering about this, whether Astarion would go if you mained Karlach and romanced Astarion... I adore this.

This video has made me like Astarion, he looks heartbroken
Is Withers playing favourites? I don't remember him calling my Tav a friend.
Yes, that seems to be extremely rare among Withers. So far, I have only seen it with the Karlach Origin.
I’m pretty sure he calls you friend if you choose to end your own life as either a mindflayer or unredeemed dark urge
I think he refers to Karlach as a friend to others, not as a friend to himself, considering the other names he mentioned
I got Withers calling my Tav a friend during my first play through.

The fact Karlach is dead and still missing a horn means she still doesnt have a heart. Which also means if someone dies and their handicapped...

Maybe. I even once read a theory where it was discussed whether one could be Wither's Chosen.
