Basically rebuild P1 & P2 from the ground up with P3R and P5R mechanics in a single bundle. It will take longer, that's why they should remake P4G first with P3R and P5R mechanics. I'm just worried about how they'll censor Kanji.
This is a good reason for P4 being the next remake, though I hope there's some acknowledgement of P1 and 2 prior. As far as censoring, people were freaking out about the evokers being censored in Reload but that turned out to be a non-issue. There are also some lines in the original P3 that could be seen as problematic, but were kept for the sake of being faithful (i.e. the "Don't you dare look up" exchange between Yukari and Junpei). Not saying that's a guarantee nothing will be altered in a P4 remake, but I do think it's indicative of a respect for the source material.
there are things of P1 and 2 just don't work with the updated stuff like the calendar system, updating the combat to be like the modern games might be a complete reset as most of 1 and 2 don't intend you to switch characters heck only Eternal punishment in the postgame can allow you to do that and with P1 they throw a chunk of characters at you right away unlike the modern games where they introduce party members a bit more slowly
In terms of Atlas JRPGs, I am very new to this space. SMTV and P5R opened up the gates for me. Personally, I would really like to see a remake of the first SMT game. I feel I lean more towards that than a P1 remake.
I definitely feel like p1+2 will probably get the same treatment as p3 in that they might get a port to modern systems and then get a full remake released a few years later. I've only played a little of p1 so i dont have much input on it but the random encounters would definitely need to be replaced imo. (I bought these on psp/vita store before it went down) I would personally love to see complete overhauls of p1 and p2 in the same style as p3-5 but i totally get wanting a faithful remake and keeping it closer to smt games. I definitely want smt4 remakes at some point too but more than anything i want a port of smtV to non-switch devices. I still 100% smtV with clearing all endings and getting all demons and miman but would love to see it with better graphics + performance.
If the remakes are overhauled to be more like 3-5 it'd make sense to re-release the PSP versions as promotion for them in addition to preserving their original state. If they can somehow manage to make remakes that are faithful while still updating it enough to fit the Persona branding I'd be down for that too. Very interested to see what happens either way! SMTV 100% needs a multiplat release and SMTIV remakes with V's visuals would be insanely cool.
As someone who has played both Soul Hackers 1 and Soul Hackers 2... fans are going to be very upset if they remake Soul Hackers 1 to be more like 2. There's a lot of potential for a Soul Hackers 1 remake but the Soul Hackers 2 team aren't the right people to handle it
I feel like if they added the calendar stuff it would change the games so fundamentally that they're better off making something else. But even if they remake them faithfully I think remasters of the PSP version would be nice to see
If they do a Persona 1 or 2 remake, I really hope they work on fleshing out the social links more. Persona 3's story is great, but I feel like ALL the social links aren't given enough time. Most ranks are just a short bit of dialogue, followed by one option to respond. Sometimes they're so silly, I chuckled out loud when the game said "I feel like I understand them better now" and ranks up. Then you have certain social links where the story barely evolves for 4 or 5 ranks & just keeps drip feeding you a couple things, often retold in a different way. Like how many times did I need to hear about a cigarette butt being found in a bathroom, and see Odagiri interrogate or whine about "justice?" It's not simply "some stories are weaker than others" either... everyone knows Kenji talking about girls is pretty meh. It's just the process of ranking up each person to 10 should be more engaging & well thought out. If you don't have decent dialogue or compelling plot lines, cut back on the number of social links in future games. And stop retreading the same ground with so many of these people. Everyone has a dead parent or sibling, wants to learn to cook or make coffee, be a track athlete or artist, blah blah blah. Yes, I know it's high school, but you can go beyond the usual anime tropes & write whatever you want! Sorry for the rant, but I love these games. Just want to see them get even better in the future.
I like to look at P3's S. Links as being more focused on one particular problem as opposed to telling a grander story, not that that's necessarily better or worse than the games after (I'll save more thoughts for a later video). Since Reload is a remake I don't think it's indicative of how S. Links will be handled in future games. P1 and 2 didn't have them to begin with, so if they decide to add them I'd expect them to be more in line with how P5 handled confidants probably.
that's the thing, social links weren't a thing in 1 and 2, they could do minor sidequests but trying to translate a social link into those games do not work because major elements such as calnders etc don't exist

A full on remake of Soul Hackers with SMT5's graphics/engine/combat system would be awesome. To bad Devil Summoner didn't make the list.
I am still waiting for HD remasters for DDS1+2 as a collection for PS4/5, Switch, PC, etc..
The Raidou games need full remakes.

SMT I and II remakes would be especially cool since they were only released in Japan back in the day
@@CobraCodex I would love remakes of SMT 1, 2, and if...

Fire vid, defintely deserves a sub
Thanks!
I'd be down for a PQ collection with new gameplay and graphics, that'd be sick
The more games they can get off the 3DS, the better imo
I would love full on remakes of SMT 1, 2, and/or if....with SMT5's graphics/engine/combat system....I love the press turn system.
More press turn games is always a win :D

For sure, if anything I feel like they'd just adapt the 3DS version for a single screen or something
I would prefer remasters for Persona 1 and both 2s. I would not touch them if they remade them with the calendar/school systems.

I seen people throw around the idea of including something similar to the devil survivor 2 fates system
P4 is still my favorite Persona and I'm also not a fan of most of the Golden story additions
Good to know I'm not the only one lol
