Hope you guys enjoy the video! This triple tier list project took me a lot longer than planned in part because I got burnt out on talking about Persona quicker than expected. Been playing a lot of mainline SMT as of late so that'll be my focus for upcoming Megaten videos until further notice.
Fair enough. I just find her implementation too obscure to leave the impact that I think was intended. Though I get that thematically it makes sense and is more satisfying than ending with Ameno Sagiri.
I honestly don't like Strega at all, like the Reload convos they added between Makoto and Takaya were cool for the most part, but he's such a Redditor it's hard to take him super seriously ESPECIALLY with how lame Makoto's dialogue responses are (makes sense for his non-confrontational nature, but he's confronting a murderer dawg). One of P5's biggest problems is the spoonfeeding like you mentioned along with the villains being so one-note. Royal has unused content where each will seed would give you flashbacks about how they got where they are, and I'm sooooo mad they didn't keep those in (though only the first two dungeon's had any unused content so they were probably scrapped pretty early on). Akira Konoe's backstory is pretty cool in the sense that they actually went there, but I agree the execution is whatever, and the fact that the characters lowkey still treat him like a murderer (yes they sympathize with him but they're still like "bruh you killed your own father...") is weird Ichinose W ALL MY HOMIES HATE SHO
Yea in the grand scheme Strega’s pretty whatever. At least they have memorable designs/story presence even if their characterization is half baked (which is more than can be said for most of these jobbers lol) I remember hearing about the will seed flashbacks being cut too, damn shame. Also the fact that Konoe’s backstory is way darker than I recalled while somehow being forgettable is wild
Also about Strega I think, how do I say this. Well, we were introduced to them in that scene where it was revealed they were a part of the revenge site but that revenge site was never brought up again. It was teased like it was going to be a plot point but nothing happened with it and then I don't understand why they waited so late to attempt to free Chihaya. They really believed at the time that the Dark Hour was going to disappear if the past full moon shadow was killed so you think they'd do everything to prevent that like getting an extra person. I also think the end with them didn't make much sense either. Takaya was suddenly behind this cult and he knew about Nyx and wanted the world to end too but he seemed so concerned about keeping the Dark Hour so he can keep his powers. I never got what their goal was.
Izanami is an underrated villain who fits in nicely with the concepts of p4. I'd love to talk more about her, but it would be like writing an essay about her. 😅
Conceptually it makes sense, but the execution is really lacking imo. The gas station attendant should technically be around the entire game but has next to no screen time at all. The "twist" comes completely out of left field and is so easily missable that it feels like an afterthought. Something that should in theory be integral to the game's story/themes/etc. ends up feeling like a glorified easter egg.
The villains in Persona games were never the strong point in my opinion but i did love how unhinged Adachi was. I know Metaphor is not megaten i hope the game is going to have interesting villains
True, thankfully these games have a lot more going for them. Very excited to see what they do with Metaphor, would be great to see a new top tier antagonist from Atlus
i think kamoshida should be an S tier, their job as a character is to be "hated" and kamoshida is SOOO easy to hate because of what he does in jokers close circle and the school as a whole tbh
It's a very easily missable component to the story that leads to the true final dungeon and final boss fight (I missed it completely on my first playthrough too). The day you leave Inaba you can go to the rooftop of Junes one last time. This eventually leads to the reveal that the gas station attendant that shook your hand at the beginning of the game was actually the goddess Izanami who gave you, Adachi, and Namatame your powers as a test or something.

I'll admit it was cool seeing the PTs react to Okumura's death, but they way overdid it on the foreshadowing in P5
its crazy how 1 s tier is the most hateable character and the other is so hard to hate

Yeah. One would create a dystopia because he lacks any faith in humanity, and the other is Adachi.
I would put izanami is a tier as I think she ties into the story and p4 really well and I like how she takes her loss gracefully after you defeat her
