I must admit I am completely addicted to your videos. I have been an avid photographer for 35 years, and many of the cameras you describe are nostalgic for me. BTW - I am a sucker for micro four thirds and other crop sensor cameras. I just know that I am going to wind up purchasing a camera from you one of these days. Thanks for making these videos. I am always rooting for you to score a home run on every box you open.
I really enjoy trying to guess the values of the cameras you show. my success rate is pretty lo! but living in the UK though I need to do the currency conversion in my head as well!! 🙂
I wonder how prices compare for like items in the UK market vs. the US? Do you find with currency conversion cameras are similarly prices or lower/higher?
The excitement of bidding for these mixed camera lots can't be described. It's fun and does keep me busy cleaning, tinkering, servicing, seeking parts and getting them ready for re-sale. I use Ebay, Buyee, Mercari and some local sites in my country. Good video !!!
I've got one here of cameras that had issues from prior videos that I go through and try to fix-all related to corrosion: th-cam.com/video/kJJPk3RWufQ/w-d-xo.html I will try to do a video soon around other camera issues (bent lens hoods, sticky buttons etc.)
Was me that advised the alchol trick, its best to take a syring or something and carefully pour in at angle inside battery compartment so it flows and comes out at shutter button which you need to agitate at this stage, leave it overnight for all the alcohol to evaporate.
$200 for an Elph180 is absolutely ridiculous. I'm guessing it's the 20MP resolution and the new craze for vintage point and shoot cameras. Hipsters seem to be willing to overpay for a certain aesthetic.
I used to fix Norand Intermec Handheld computers that were used for in store sales by food routes. I used the gummy rubber erasers to remove corrosion. It might help you with the battery compartments because you can use the eraser on #2 pencil to clean in deep. For the closer to the surface contacts you can use rubber art erasers to gently scrub them. Its much less harsh/ebrasive then wire brushes. The old Norands had copper contacts and you did not want to remolve the copper or damage it because it was just on the surface.
Hi! I really enjoy your content. I buy and sell a few cameras and collecting cameras cheap and clean them up and sell a few of them or keep them. Just wanted to say i miss when it did popup what camera it was and the price for it and what you earned in total at that moment, hope you can bring that back. Great content and keep doing this! Sorry for my bad english.
Thank you! Awesome to hear you're doing a similar thing. I will try to incorporate the pop ups again, definitely adds a fair amount of time in the editing process. Cheers!
The SX530 HS was nice, it was the second to last in the SX500-series before Canon canceled it. It you now want anything similar new from Canon you have to get SX70 HS which is over 500 €. I still use SX520 HS.
I think half the time when you have “flash doesn’t fire” issues, it is because the beak on your hat (by the way you are indoors) is holding the flash down, I know that some of the Canon cameras will not show the “flash obstructed” error message but still will not fire the flash!
Nice! Love the Panasonic FZ series. Just shot with FZ50 and FZ200 today and I have the FZ20 on the way! I also have a Canon SX130, that 160 looks cool. Did you out that Canon 6D up on your store yet? Thanks
Not yet! I’ve got a bit of a backlog because I love doing unboxings more than actually listing on eBay! Hopefully in the next week or two. Glad to hear you are using those lumix cams! Have you used the point and shoot Panasonics with good optical reach like the zs8 and zs10? They are notorious for sensor dust issues, but if you get a clean copy, they are fun to shoot with!
Buddy, I love your videos, but because I live in Europe the name of cameras we have different for example Canon EOS 600D is Canon Rebel T3i sometimes it is hard to understand what camera you are talking about, could you please say the model not only for the USA market but also for us, so it will be much easier for us, and by the way hi from Poland love your videos
Supply and demand, I would say. As canon isn’t making budget point and shoot models anymore, and inventory levels will only continue to go down, prices are going up. Some specific models are a bit overhyped in my opinion, but to each his own, I suppose.
@@pricklypearcamera I was shocked by those prices. I used my Rebel T7 with my M42 lens alongside owning the awesome DC-290. I noticed I wanted to use my Kodak more. And as I was looking for a new camera to play with and maybe add to my YT. But those prices made me say I’ll good. So i grabbed another Kodak from the early 2000s a CX7530 and I love it! I I’m set for the two old schools. I have the M:i-2 DC-290 though, they used a 265 and this awesome mint 5MP Kodak. I’ll be testing a FZ55 to see if it’ll be that bridge for modern/classic P&S for me.
Funny you should have a Sony Cyber-Shot in that batch...I have a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H70 (16 megapixels, 10 optical zoom) that I was thinking of possibly selling. It's in excellent working order, has the original battery & charger and the body is in good condition...Amazon has it (used) selling for $165...Just yesterday, I asked for quotes from 3 different online sites that buy used cameras and all 3 told me it was completely worthless. Why would that be if the value on these cameras has increased in recent years? It's very confusing...but at least I can see from this video that it is worth something.
A lot of electronics companies that buy cameras will only buy if a camera is above a 200-300$ value to make it worth their time. Not sure why they would call it worthless though, other than most of them don’t do much business in used point and shoot models. Your H70 has a value in the used market on eBay of $75-100
I was a little surprised too...Two of the places couldn't even give me a quote because it had no value to them...the third place quoted me $2.00...Thank you for the information...If I do decide to sell, I'll definitely be going the ebay route.@@pricklypearcamera
How strange, that is the only link I have for the store directly, but here is a link for something currently active I am selling and you can click “see more of sellers items’. @@sbcwinn so very kind of you! 😀 Unfortunately these larger lots have gotten increasingly tough to find!
I like the Coolpix 8800 together with 8400, but not only collecting them. I grab em and gong out to make pics and have fun!!!

broadly similar I've found, but it is camera dependant@@pricklypearcamera

Thanks Hubert! Glad to hear you’re enjoying it too- I love being able to bring a camera back from an unusable state and give it new life!
Fun videos!
Now I'm curious about the succes rate of the 'I will look at them some more' camera's.
Maybe do a video about those?

Excellent, thank you for the instructions, I will give it a shot!
I had never seen a vertical shutter button on a camera grip like on that Kodak.
Big Like for trying to save old cameras! ... The haze looked like fungus to me, guess it will spread, so condition will be worse by time.
Yeah it could be… thank you for watching! 😃

I have an Ixus 155 (ELPH 150 IS). I paid 50 € for it new ten years ago. I wonder would some hipster buy it.
Got the Canon Ixus 50. 5mp for 12 euro. Have seen some store selling them for 100 euro. Market is weird
British eBay is not showing anything like those prices.n
I loved my Olympus 5050. Learned more about shooting even though I couldn't change lens
Nice! I love the 5050 and 8080, fun stuff!
@@pricklypearcamera if you get either one would like one for my sons Daughter to learn about cameras

That HP E27 i bought from you,, is it featured in any of your videos so I can link your video when I shoot mine?

At 21:41, I use a silicone gun cloth to rub all over the camera body and lens. Then let air dry before storing or using.
