    Now we're into the good stuff. Love to see this Canon glass. I'm consistently amazed how cheap consumer-level EF and EF-S lenses are now that everyone's going mirrorless.

      You're absolutely right, I've been shooting a ton of EF and EF-S lenses with my Canon R adapter for my EOS R50, so still gettin' some use out of e'm!

    Video @ 46:35 - "there's tons of moving parts in here" - Yes, and the biggest source of failure is in the tape movement components. There are TINY nylon gears (such as in the take-up spool). where they form micro splits (cracks) that spread the gear teeth so they find a spot that hits head to head rather than entwining/engaging. Back in the day as a Video repair technician, I replaced them often. This happened when they were fairly young, so imagine now with their advanced age...

    • @pricklypearcamera

      Thanks for the info, and great to get some insight by a technician like yourself! That explains why I see what I see so many years after production.

    Your video made me miss my Sony A55. I still use the Minolta Maxxum 50mm f1.7 adapted to my Samsung NX3000. It works wonderfully with manual focus since it's not focus by wire, and the adapter has a little lever to control the aperture. But I do plan on getting another Sony A mount body some day.

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good ol' A55, nice camera! Really cool that you're using the 50mm on the Samsung NX with an adapter. I like Samsung's too! Shot with an NX300 and NX500 for a while.

    Hi! If you wanted to test the flash on some manually winding film cameras and they don't have a multiple exposure mode lever, you can manually wind the film sprocket until the shutter primes, which is usually located in the the middle above the lens inside the camera.

    Did you ever found any Leica along the way?

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello to Tunisia! Yes, occasionally. Of course i have bought and sold individual Leica's, but in terms of the untested large lots, it's pretty rare. The most common I've found are Leica Digilux cameras which were larger format early digital cams like the Digilux 1, 2, 3.

    I have been really enjoying your videos and see many others are as well. Do you do more testing with lights etc to determine whether or not the glass on lenses/ viewfinders have haze or fungus/ scratches or oil on them? I see you do a quick check on the videos but assume you do more before selling them. Thanks for the fun videos.

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for watching, appreciate it! Yes, I do during inspection when actually going to list the items. The videos are already pushing about an hour, so I simply don't have time to do a complete check, but I haven't found any additional issues with lenses/glass from the items in the videos yet.

      Noted! I am thinking about redoing that area 🤔 This particular order came from a wholesaler of bulk untested mainly computer components, but also other electronics like cameras. I just responded to another person asking a similar question, but local auctions and school liquidations can offer larger quantities of equipment.
