10th Civic Si Cylinder Head Removal (L15B7)

  • In this video I pull the cylinder head on my 2018 Honda Civic Si L15B7 motor. After putting about 15K miles with full bolt-ons, 27Won W2 turbo, flex fuel kit and tune I began to notice a misfire above 2800 RPM. I suspected the head gasket was blown but discovered that the head bolts had stretched, lifting and cracking the cylinder head. I cover most of the disassembly process and provide insight on how to reset the timing.

    Really hoping to see more Si content from this channel this video is amazing and very informative! I recently picked up a well maintained 10th gen Si it’s a 2017 that was owned previously by someone who was older and a snowbird in Arizona and the car fax came out great however I still want to look into stuff like this on my car just to be sure and this helped me a lot!

      If you modify the car then yes , due to increased cylinder pressure over time the head will lift causing the head gasket to fail and missfires will eventually start to happen. This goes for the 2.0 and si.

    • @quademasters249

    • @JasonHamiltonJr
      @JasonHamiltonJr 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@quademasters249 yes however these new 2.0l k series aren’t as stout as the old k series. Once I started modifying and cranking up the tune, I’ve had a multitude of problems that shouldn’t be from an all motor setup from having to replace head gasket (switched to type r head studs.. no issue), injectors, doesn’t take ethanol very well, and now having to replace crankshaft due to my reluctor wheel cracking literally in half. It also reads misfires when none are present and can’t rely on reading k.count cause system reads are inaccurate so you have to rely on k.control.
