    I looked on youtube and you had exact same jeep and same dealt battery. This video was perfect. My daughter is out driving the yard as we speak. Found jeep at yard sale for $20. Only thing I did different was left the power wheels connector on instead of by passing it.. I made a commemt earlier about stripping the gears by adding more power. That's just what my neighbor told me when he seen what I was doing. Said he ruined the gears on motor but he also used 24v instead of 18v.. 18v might be fine.. Next addition for her jeep is I'm going to add l.e.d. lights for headlights and liquid nail a rubber strip around back tires from an old worn out bicycle tire. I heard you could also switch wheels from a kidstrac jeep bc there's comes with rubber arpumd the tire already for traction. They have a patent on it so that's why power wheels can't add rubber to theirs.

    • @mikewebster919
      @mikewebster919  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool. Glad to help. But watch out in adding traction....your def gonna start to smoke gears. The more traction you have, the more stress/torque your going to put on the gears. You can always replace the first drive with a metal one from mltoys.com. Good luck and happy moding. 😀

    • @mikewebster919
      @mikewebster919  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      At the very least get the controller that removes the auto stop after the pedal is released. It let's it freewheel rather than instant stop. It is less stress on the gears but you will need to make sure that you kid knows that it won't stop as quick. 😀

      @@mikewebster919 ahh good point.. I didn't think about that.. Traction causing more strain on the gear.. This is all new to me, first kid, first power wheel purchase.. • @mikewebster919

      @@allthingssilver7635 oh yeah...it gets deep. I would def recommend the free wheel module. It will take a lot of the stress off the gears. Good luck a lmk if you have any questions.

      @@mikewebster919 I looked into the soft start/stop module. I'm doing that, thanks for that advice. I would of never thought about something like that.. I wonder what's different about kidtrax motor setup bc they come with rubber strip on tire but what you said makes a lot of sense about traction adding stress to motors.

    • @mikewebster919
      @mikewebster919  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There already is a fuse inline on mine. You can't see it in the video because it's after the hood. And yes real tires will be better but watch out for stripping gears. Your putting alot more torque on them because the tires don't spin like plastic ones. Happy moding!

      Yea I can definitely see that happening, I just ordered 2 new 24v motors with metal gears just for that reason, lol I never thought about using drill batteries, I have tons of Milwaukee batteries so I think I might give it a try.

    • @mikewebster919
      @mikewebster919  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they do deplete quicker than the stock battery. especially if you have stock motors... They get hot quick and that's feeds back to the battery and then gets the batteries hot. my Jeeps are now running either Traxxas 775 or 550 and they run significantly cooler and the batteries last much longer. both of these motors are rated for nearly 18 volt anyways. if you haven't yet I highly recommend a simple motor upgrade. the 550 are a bit faster but the 775 have tons of torque. let me know if you have any questions. thanks for watching

      Yeah most likely. You just have to figure out a way to get them to power the powerwheels. The only risk you have is overheating the motors and frying them. Let me know of you need help.

    Hi Mike, i just got my daughter her first powerwheels, she gets about half hour on the current battery, but the is so slow, this car only has 2 speeds reverse or forward, here is the link of the one i have, how much time do you get on the 18 v dewalt battery?

    • @mikewebster919
      @mikewebster919  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It says in the product description that it has 2 forward speeds but if you only have one right now it's typically because the set screw needs to be removed to allow it to go into the top speed. You won't get any longer run time out of the 18 volt dewalt batteries... In fact it will be shorter but the car will be faster due to increased voltage. The only way to increase run time would be to increase battery capacity. Like using a 12volt deep cell/marine battery. I've don't it with my kids cars and they will literally run a few days before needing recharge. But they are the size of a car battery and typically require cutting/modification to the car to fit the battery. Let me know if you have any questions. Have fun and happy moding!

      +Kenneth Santiago Ml toys is great. I get most of my stuff from them. And that upgrade to 18 volt will do fine. It probably won't give you more run time if any though. Those batteries have similar capacity to the stock ones. But it will def make it faster. The best upgrade for speed for me was a combination of 18 volts and switching the motors to traxxas 550's.
