Tbh easy choice but it depends on what it's used for; GH5 = Run and Gun Videographer's, BMPCC4K = Short Film Creators

@@ChargedSoulsEnt Run and Gun means lots of different types of videos that aren't necessarily high budget but you do a lot of like social media videos, weddings, sometimes music videos, I would say if you have the budget to rig it out then definitely the Blackmagic is better

I concur, and the nice thing is that either can be used as a B-Cam for the other once you understand how to properly match colors in the settings menus and monitor to a Rec. 709 baseline. The BMPCC 4K has surprised me with how good it is for commercial work, and the GH5's Pro Res/All-i will not be the limiting factor for most avenues of narrative distribution. Neither will become "obsolete" any time soon.

Great comparison!! I have a g7 and g85. Indie filmmaker and i really love the quality of the blackmagic but im a run n gun guy and i would be livid if the camera dies on me or just constantly worrying about it dying. The thought of carrying all those batteries in the field is not something I'd want to do either. I think the gh5 quality is good enough. And it just seems like there's more accessories u have to buy to get the blackmagic up and running. The gh5 is ready to go out the box. Maybe ill look into the gh5s too. I think it's all in what works for you. That viewfinder not moving is minor but a problem as well. Im so used to moving that screen around , id go crazy not being able to do that. Again great review👍🎥 subbed

I love my GH5. You can match the GH5 to RED footage with little effort. Plus, I found that shooting in CineD or CineV with the GH5 provides a much cleaner grain structure. And shooting in 10-bit, I am able to pull detail out of the shadows with CineD or CineV with excellent grain and color range. That being said, from what I've seen of the BMPCC4K, I really like its color science. I think the color science of the BMPCC4K is very cinematic out of the box. The downside of the BMPCC4K, is the lack of internal stabilization. But, I still plan on getting the BMPCC4K for its color science alone. Of course, I will have to research better power options for the BMPCC4K considering how quickly it drains battery life. To me, having both the GH5 and BMPCC4K will enable me to shoot in almost any situation and achieve tremendous results. Great video,

I think if your serious videographer the pocket is the way to go in terms of pro res better dynamic range, raw option. All the limitations are really not relevant as even on the GH5 like myself I use an external small HD and a better battery solution. IBIS is great however a gimbal will eliminate the need for it as will a monopod. In the end image quality and the Black Magic look is awesome.

Nice vid guys. Black Magic Design are an incredibly frustrating company. They're like a really fast racehorse that's winning the race but then falls at the last fence. What I mean by that is, that they make ground breakingly good cameras but they leave it with problems that leaves the user incredibly frustrated. With the pocket cam, they shouldn't have tried to make a 'pocket cam' as such (because it isn't), they should have made a more professional small camera, more like a successor to the BMCC. They should have made it with it's own battery type like a Canon 1dx and they should have built in an articulated screen. The fixed screen is ridiculous. Instead of trying to make a cheap camera they should charge an extra $1000 and do it properly.

Wow, that's sad. I ordered mine 8 months ago and since then I got a Canon Eos-R for my photography as well as already having the GH5. So I'm beginning to wonder if I need it. It's no good having that amazing colour science and image when other parts of the camera let it down. BM should remember that their customers are cinematographers and not consumer types which seems to be the demographic the camera is aimed at. Instead of it being a €1200 camera, it would be better if it was a €2500 camera but with articulated screen and bigger battery perhaps a few other features. Also, the shape is ridiculous. I'm beginning to think Kinefinity is a more innovative company.@@JoseReneVisuals

    Very interesting video. Thank you
I am not an expert because I just
like to shoot. I'd like to ask some questions please, hoping someone
    experienced will answer me.
    1) I only make documentaries in remote
areas, around the world. 2) I always travel alone. 3) I like to shoot in
4K 50p 10bit. 4) I would like to get the same or slightly better video
quality than the GH5. 5) I would like a camera that is easy to use.
    Which
camera do you think is the best for me? I could also accept a small

Raw is Raw. If the GH5 had Raw and better low light it would be hands down. Oh and if you use an additional QR plate or a heavier lens you can mount the Pocket 4k on the Ronin. I love my GH5 but I have to switch to the GH5s at almost every event due to the low light performance. I even light scenes when I can. The best feature and reason I can't part with the GH5/GH5s is its Anamorphic options. What will the GH6 look like?

First of all you should say what type of videos are you shooting. Event shooting is not film shooting. And you have different requirements for camera.
Second , rig for camera with cage speedboster, v-mount battery , rods and all you will need will cost you about 1500-1700$. And it’s not a Usra mini price at all! If you will add all of this to gh5 it may be will be an it’s mini price, but not with a pocket4k.
It’s not event camera, that’s for sure. Try to compare gh5 and Alexa mini and you will end with same conclusion -gh5 is better. BUT, does it ??)

    • @JoseReneVisuals
      @JoseReneVisuals  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Алексей Кузьменко That's what we say on the video. I don't know if first or second or third of all, but we say it (maybe first of all you should watch the video). Second, if you want to have reliable components the prices goes up, approximately to the price of an Ursa. And the point of this video is that 90% of today's filmmakers shoot commercials and events, that both cameras are on the same price range and that quickness of operation is sometimes more important than quality image.
