I've had a deposit down on this C8 Z06 for over 7 months, there is too much speculation behind this car and the future models. GM needs to hurry up and release this car so people can either purchase it or move on to other options.

@@repz0611 I have 2 deposits down at 2 of our biggest dealers. At the end of the day it's only 1,000.00 it wouldn't be the end of the world if you couldn't get the money back. Any decent dealer would want to avoid bad press should the deal not work out, it could cost them a lot more than a 1,000.00.

Same... waiting 6 months. Deposit refundable at a top notch volume dealer and near the top on the list. Just give me the exotic sound FP or not, but it needs to make serous HP and not explode. FP is great. Please don’t make them like the “other” American company with the “air cooled” see through blocks. Copy Ferrari. Lower the displacement and twin turbo it.
Keep the same comfort adjustments on suspension, same levels of choice on the interior, as they nailed that. Agreed on the zero info from Chevy, I can wait but yes... start giving us details of what and when. It’s getting old.

The people voting for N/A make up about 2% of the population that would actually road race this car. The other 98% will use it on the street where it would need the added hp for roll racing and half mile events. GM is not going to make a car to cater to 2% of it's buyers, that would be suicide. You also need to realize that the demographic for this car has changed, it used to be an old man's car. Now with the design and bold new colors it will appeal to younger buyers as well, and that's a hard pill to swallow for these old time enthusiasts. GM needs to look into the future and not the past, no one needs to fit 2 sets of golf clubs or luggage in the back. This car should only be used as a toy drive your pickup to the airport or golf course.

As a 018 GT350R owner .. I’m still undecided about the glorious sounding FPC V8. I’ve had no problems with mine (it’s not a daily) but I’ve heard others horror stories. As for the CF wheels, I’ve never driven on them ... I switched them out at the dealer with a replacement set the day I took delivery of my car. I have a friend that damaged a wheel on a curb and replacing it wasn’t pretty. So handle with extreme care if you go with that option. What you should say “NO!” to is the Dominic Toretto Wing option 🤣🤣🤣

If you want strong and light weight wheels, there companies who do custom CNC from a block of forged aluminum.. Beautiful designs, perfect shape (circle), very strong and light. Or you couldgo titanium wheels, but more expensive. On my previous Z06, I bought the forged aluminum with tires from a vendor and the total was $8,000. Best investment I made as it made a huge difference in the feel of driving compared to stock wheels and tires. And when I sold my Z06, I sold the 4 wheels alone (as the tires were worn out) for $6,000 and got my money back.

Very good recommendation on the CF wheels. No doubt you'd destroy them on the bad Roads here in Colorado. So far I've bent one wheel on my Z06 in the past 4 years since moving here from Houston. As far as the discussion I had with you on the C8Z06 being NA FP crank or TT FP crank , I've seen no new info or arguments on the Corvette Forum either way. After much thought about the subject and reading others thoughts I believe GM must equal or exceed the C7 ZR1 HP of 755 as they did with the C6ZR1 638 HP > C7Z06 650 HP. So I'm expecting C8 Z06 to be 750-775 HP TT FP crank.. If not it will disappoint me and a lot of other potential buyers. If it is a NA FP crank 600HP engine, I may have to sell my C7 Z06 and go back to a C7 ZR1 LOL!

My guess, they do the flat plane for 1-3 years and then change the platform to the twin turbo.
Flat plane crank would be a new GM production engine design and need a little time for reliability to settle in. My guess would be they do the flat plane for 1-3 years, then add or change it to twin turbo after a couple years. They have to fight against the Dodge Hellcat and other platform performance issues so turbo is very likely to come fairly quickly. However, they have to compete with the Mustang performance issues with their flat plan crank so I see that as a more direct and immediate market competition issue.

As for the carbon fiber wheel option, I would only have them on a Corvette when presenting a C8 at an auto show, be it for competition for appearance or not. I would only trust a carbon fiber wheel if the facing was a carbon fiber wrap around an aluminum core.
Also, I own a C7 Z51 and, aside from curb-rash, I have had to replace only one of the wheels, which is of the split spoke design; however, this was due to running over a rock the side of a grapefruit while changing lanes on the highway at 75 mph.

I would not add the option for carbon fiber wheels. I!m a retired daily driver. I want the reliability of a metallic made wheel. I own a 2018 z06 with steel wheels and I love it. I will have a 2022 on order as soon as they open the orders for the dealers. What every you get enjoy, have fun and be careful.

It won’t be 5.2 liters unless it is turbocharged. You can’t possibly get enough torque out of 5.2 liter normally aspirated engine. It just isn’t physically possible. It will be either a 5.2 liter boosted engine or a 5.5 liter normally aspirated engine.

Imo cf-wheels and their insane cost are a viable option for a track car. But as you also mentioned, even as a pure track option, i have my doubts about safety. Are they strong enough to carry the car's weight AND withstand the forces put upon them while racing, cornering and braking the car? Cause unlike metal, carbonfiber isn't very flexible. It will sooner break than bend. Then, the amount of improvement they give for acceleration and handling does not justify the price on a daily driven road car. The same as other upgrade parts that cost alot of money to shave off tents or hundreds of a second are "useful" on a track car cause there these minuscule time advantages can make a difference between first or second place, but are unnoticeable and so kinda "useless" on a car for use on public roads cause there you don't have any cars to compare these upgrades with (atleast not during normal driving situations). And if you get "cosmetic" damage on these cf-wheels it's impossible to repair them so the damage can't be seen anymore.
To everyone, a happy new year and best wishes for the future. 🥳🥳

Hey Justin, I know this is a bit off topic, but do you know if you can get the two tone Tension Blue interior with black leather or do you have to get it with dark blue leather? The website lists the option as "Tension/Twilight Blue Dipped" and they don't have a Tension Blue w/Jet Black so I think I know the answer but I'm hoping you know something I don't. The website doesn't always show every option. Thanks

Usually it will take 3 years or more, from the day any auto manufacturer tests a car, until the day it is mass produced. That is usually the norm.
So there is no way that the Z06 will come out next year.

  • @superchief15
    @superchief15 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    They are talking about two
Difference engines and models. The 5.5 normally aspirated engine will be in the Z06, the other 5.5 with twin turbos will not be a Z06, May be a ZR1 C8 and May start with a lower compression 5.5 that the turbo boost won’t blow the tops out of the pistons. You can’t just slap turbos on a high compression engine without mechanical changes or ignition mapping. The 6.2 liter Sting Ray will also have a sister C8 with a electric motor driving the front wheels, E-Ray. Published model, horse power, and torque values have been leaked and some “best guesser” penciled in different values. I would rather take what the Engineers that have been working on the C8 for a half dozen years leaked then anyone’s best guesses!

Justin, your MIC is still picking up MONO from right channel as I reported this from months ago. Are you using your notebooks built in MIC or a plugin MIC? If plugin, there is either a problem with the plug making proper connection for the MIC wire or the plug is not fully in. On a desktop with large speaker, your voice only comes from right side, but when you inject other videos, the sound is stereo. So, it has to be your MIC.
    Hope this helps.

Obviously the huge reduction in unstrung weight is super attractive and would add to the handling characteristics of the car !! BUT, there’s no way I could justify the risk of going out of round or possibly having a wheel break at speed on the track !! We’re talking potential DEATH here, no way for this boy !!

I mean if Koenigsegg is doing carbon fiber wheels and even taking into account adding the 1 ounce on the opposite side of the valve to accommodate high speeds, I think they are good for both weight reduction and being better suited for high speeds. Regardless even if you don't get carbon wheels, I just got my 3rd set of Corvette wheels and in the first month two are bent again. So would it be worth it to get theses and possible have a longer life span at the cost of a higher cost if I break them? Or should I just wait for my 4th set of wheels to come in so I can very easily bend them daily driving?

  • @geoffreymckenzie5561
