I don't understand people's hatred towards Steven Moffat. He is a brilliant writer, and while he has his flaws, he is still a great writer for the show. Some of the best episodes of the new series were written by him, such as "Silence In The Library" and "Blink".
(Sorry, I know you wrote this comment forever ago) Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love his writing. Blink and Silence in the Library are two(well three) of my favorites. But with him as the show runner, I didn’t like the intensity of the plots he tried to pursue all the time. I just wanted the fun, slightly scary adventures, not the moody doctor! But despite this, I still think he’s great as a writer(and not too bad with Sherlock either 😋)
Moffat and Tennant have made their fanboy dreams into actual reality! Goes to show you can accomplish what you dream if you work hard to make it into reality!
Moffat, you will forever inspire me, thank you so much for all the fantastic work you have done on Doctor Who and other projects! I understand the level of pressure that writing such a show would have on your shoulders, especially this year. I would love to tell you in person your work is much appreciated, and these 'haters' are in the minority. Hats off to the Moff everyone!
Not entirely sure how I ended up to this 7 year - old video but seeing Steven Moffat: Writer, Episode 10 is so weird to me. It's not Director, its just writer of one episode. Crazy.
I really love Moffat. My brother and I were discussing our top ten favourite episodes of Doctor Who the other day and almost all of the ones we chose were written by Steven even before he became head writer.
People don't actually hate him. But because he is so good at touching peoples feelings and making us actually feel a sense of loss, people joke about hating him.
@krimzonvillain Yeah. Usually when he loses control, it's in anger or frustration. It's very rare to see him literally fearing for his life without being able to even try to fight back. The fear in his eyes when he's unable to even control what he says is...wow. It was really Tennant's shining moment as an actor in that show for me.
I merely meant that each previous doctor has had their own individual style, similar in general but the finer points of the character have been individual to each actor.
I loved Eccleston, I think he should have done a few more series, but most young people regard Tennant as "the best" doctor. Smith has got a lot to live up to, I just hope he brings something of himself to the role instead of copying Tennant.
Awesome seeing these two chat! Just a couple of notes for whoever uploads these given this is the BBCWorldwide account: his name is spelled "Steven" not "Stephen. Also, you call him David Moffat in the description. Aside from that, thanks for uploading!
1. it was a response to TheeFreakiishlyz who said david was only in for a year, at no point did i say he was the longest running. and i agreed with his point after all. 2. I dont remember all this omg i love you christopher plz dont go when eccelston announced he was leaving. My point is that David had much longer than Chris, and that has let him get to know the role, and we are used to him. And that is why people are so sad to see him go.
lol, don't worry. The main thing is that you are willing to get it right. My advice is to check that there is no apostrophe in a possessive (viz. my, your, his, her, its) unless it's a name or common noun. If there is, then something's wrong!
russel t davies is the main writer of doctor who, how could it possibly have been brilliant if he wasn't any good. and david tennant is the best doctor there ever was!!! this is a reply to all those that have been criticizing them. and on a lighter note steven moffat is brilliantly amazing, blink and silence in the library.
@krimzonvillain Unfortunately, that endless hope is extremely unrealistic. That's just it, though: in every other episode, the creatures are evil and the humans are good, but none of it is likely to happen in real life. In Midnight, the people are the evil ones, and their reactions to subtle pressures are so over-the-top, yet so shockingly realistic, that it should scare the crap out of you to realize people are really like that. Overall, Teannant's vulnerability in that episode made the show.
So was Tom Baker and Peter Davidson (especially Peter Davidson) the former who is now the most well-known Doctor of all time and the latter who is the inspiration for modern Who-writers - give the man a chance, he's only a YEAR (uno) younger than Peter Davidson was when he started in the role
@IceMetalPunk I guess it depends if you're typically pessimistic or optimistic, though I don't think Doctor Who leaves much room for pessimism even in it's darkest episodes. One of the things that the Doctor lauds us for is our endless potential for hope and good, despite our flaws and fears. As for the evil creatures and good humans, that's not always the case. Doctor Who complicates concepts of pure good and pure evil on the part of both humans and aliens in the vast majority of its episodes.
i see your point, but for the record. David tennant played it for 4 years. he had much longer to get to know the role, and thats what i think made him so succesful
@jkarani It was a low-budget episode. You can't expect great SFX all the time :) . Besides, the focus of the episode was on the behaviors of the people, not the monster at all.
@Kiel29793 So glad my fumbling can bring smiles. Poor excuse for my numerous spelling/typos, but I comment on yt whilst I'm working... zipping back to my other screen now :)!
i used to always get really excited about dr who with david tennant, cuz its my fave show, with my fave actor n the series always starts near my birthday. now im not too bothered :( it feels like a step down to be watching matt smith. he might be great n i will give him a chance. but pfffttt....
@IceMetalPunk That episode left me feeling really angry. The Midnight Entity wasn't so much a scary villain as it was an unforgiving mirror of all the worst in people. Though it was a very interesting counterpoint to the Doctor's unwavering faith in humanity, the thing I love beyond anything else about Doctor Who is it's hopefulness, it's central thesis that people are essentially good. So I gotta say, not my favourite episode, though definitely a very very good one!
Hmmm. Yes, you're observation is pedantic, but well taken. I'm well aware of the difference between a possessive and a contraction, honestly! I'm much chagrined and will endeavour to take better care.... That said, I've obsereved on yt and the many forums I've participated in, for some tolerance in friendly discussions. All said and done, you're quite right, and I would like to turn your attention to a humorous take on the matter on yt: David Mitchell rants about the Standards of Spelling.
@bexter2001 Yeah. My friend likes to count the times when a "magic reset button" is used (everything goes back to the way it was through something pulled out at the last minute, like going back in time a year at the end of season 3). I think he found 3 major examples in the End of Time alone. Still, there are some real gems of scriptwriting in the Who mix, and I have hopes for Mr Moffat.
Difficulty with writing dr who in my opinion is there aren't enough limitations. The Dr can always get out of trouble with some science-fiction mumbo-jumbo, we all know it, so to create real suspense is tricky. Sometimes I felt Russell T Davies used the get-out-of-jail-with-magic-science-trick card a bit too often.
Hadn't said a word against McGann; just the DW film.He was quite good in The Monocled Mutineer, I've not followed his career. CE's tenure was one series, under the same writer you also feel was a "useless" writer. The RTD/ DT combination carried it through to the present. Not saying categorically ever story line was stellar, It is still a disservice to dismiss RTD's contribution. Had you stopped watching the programme, or have you been gnashing your teeth and wingeing for nearly 5 years?
I don't feel qualified to argue your whole point. However, I don't think this is a good example. He is a monk. Monks practice asceticism and actively avoid women, living in isolation with only other monks as company. It's that specific relation to women that makes that scene funny.
"Well I've just blown that feature film idea" "That's what it takes to get through 45 minutes of Doctor Who."
I love how amazingly accurate that is
Love it, Blink could have been a full movie would have been just as phenomenal
So. Much. Scottish.
Didn't even know Moffat was Scottish!
We're a proud nation us Scots
Peter Capaldi has entered the chat
Series 8: The Doctor and the Master (The Mistress) are both Scottish
The accent is strong in this one
Y

Mac M. (Sorry I know you wrote this comment forever ago) but I agree
Russel wasn’t perfect as well.
Doctor who what now yeah but he was better 😏
My personal opinion of Steven Moffat is that he is a freaking genius
I love how David whips out that list.
Aw, he burst into tears! Bless you Moffat!
david, why are you ALWAYS so adoreable?
Haha, they are such fan boys.
David Tennant has such magnificent hair.
"David Moffat"
description writers sleepy
I've just noticed that!!
Also, Stephen Moffat.
The writer feels asleep.
The description writer ships it
David Moffat - at day a Doctor, at night a showrunner
David Tennant is so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
That star on the shirt recalls Captain America.
David Tennant is Captain Scotland. XD 3
Nah, Captain Gallifrey.
Moffat and Tennant have made their fanboy dreams into actual reality! Goes to show you can accomplish what you dream if you work hard to make it into reality!
Nice to see some of the people who work behind the scenes :) LOVE DAVID TENNANT
David Tennant will ALWAYS look incredibly young.
*DAVID MOFFAT*
*STEPHEN MOFFAT*
BBC, please change the description and update title.
Who cares!?
Agreed.
Gregory cooper says the man commenting on an 11 month old comment.
*passes alo vera and cookies*
I care!!
Steven moffat is a nobody

Tennant and Moffat together: “FUSION!”. David Moffat: “I am now: DAVID MOFFAT.”.
I love how he opens that list @ 0:55. Smooth.
Jings! It's Captain Jock. Dawctor Wha. Time Laird.
wish that was longer - i love hearing the writers
Sylvester McCoy, Stephen Moffat, David Tennant & Karen Gillan, ohI love Scotland:#
Empty Child, Blink, Silence in the Library, Girl in the Fireplace. All the best are his!
Oh how I love David Tennant
RTD and Moffat are amazing! :)
Bring back captain jack and David Tennant
cmon
Why did you comment on your original post two years after the first, just to say "c'mon"?
Series 12: allow me to introduce myself
People don't actually hate him. But because he is so good at touching peoples feelings and making us actually feel a sense of loss, people joke about hating him.
I love David Tennant
I'm pretty sure most of his have episodes have been highly well received hell most people say blink is the greatest doctor who episode of all time
@krimzonvillain Yeah. Usually when he loses control, it's in anger or frustration. It's very rare to see him literally fearing for his life without being able to even try to fight back. The fear in his eyes when he's unable to even control what he says is...wow. It was really Tennant's shining moment as an actor in that show for me.
I love watching Moffat's little Nerdgasms when he hears about little doctor who things
BRING BACK CAPTAIN JACK!!!!
BBC - Bring Back Captain-Jack
and they did..
The BBC: Yes
THEY DID!!
Chris chibnall brought him back so it doesn’t count
David was the best doctor ever
Gosh, I LOVE David Tennant.
He looks so cute and good looking.
I just want to feed him some good food, LOL
They filmed Doctor Who in this Very Studio!!!😮 So, so cool!
Studio TC8 no longer exists now, along with TC4, TC5, TC6 and TC7, all demolished to make way for apartments. Disgraceful.
Steven Moffat is a great writer, but wat's also really great about this video is that David Tennant spoke with his Scottish accent.
David Tennant is the Best
I love DT's response to Moffat's "burst into tears" line. XD
Moffat's attitude towards the show is exactly as I expected it... he LIKES it, which is good since we've had enough deconstructions for a while...
Oh David...
I merely meant that each previous doctor has had their own individual style, similar in general but the finer points of the character have been individual to each actor.
i like how David Moffat has been written in the info :p
I love my docter
he's doing an awesome job writing doctor who! :)
@YearwigY The Vashta Nerada and the Weeping Angles all from one mind...the best villains the new series has seen yet.
I loved Eccleston, I think he should have done a few more series, but most young people regard Tennant as "the best" doctor. Smith has got a lot to live up to, I just hope he brings something of himself to the role instead of copying Tennant.
Now the ITV studios!!
Awesome seeing these two chat! Just a couple of notes for whoever uploads these given this is the BBCWorldwide account: his name is spelled "Steven" not "Stephen. Also, you call him David Moffat in the description. Aside from that, thanks for uploading!
I love their accent!!!
@StephAnneLouise He wrote for Eccleston and Tennant before he wrote for Matt Smith. Some of the best episodes of both Nine and Ten, if not THE best :)
Well, there were many studios.
Oh yes, but let's just say it's this one because...
Oh yes, right here, on this very spot!
Yes, right on this spot.
I have a feeling that Doctor Who is about to get really really really good
Good stuff. :)
1. it was a response to TheeFreakiishlyz who said david was only in for a year, at no point did i say he was the longest running. and i agreed with his point after all.

Very cool meta moment.
2:19 David Tennant seemed a bit creeped out by Steven Moffat's childhood obsession with Doctor Who.
I know you don't care because you wrote this comment ten years ago, but DT was definitely obsessed too lol
Funnily enough one of Steven's first stories as executive producer was a malfunctioning ship in the 51st century!
lol, don't worry. The main thing is that you are willing to get it right. My advice is to check that there is no apostrophe in a possessive (viz. my, your, his, her, its) unless it's a name or common noun. If there is, then something's wrong!
I very much like Davids shirt

My two fave People...
scottish people RULEEEEEE ♥
Love DT ♥ ♥ ♥

and it still continues... my 8 year old son wants to become a stunt guy / actor thanks to doctor who and how much he loves it.
i see your point, but for the record. David tennant played it for 4 years. he had much longer to get to know the role, and thats what i think made him so succesful
lol white balance and aperture where abit off for the outside shots :P. did someone forget to flick the sunglasses on ^^
What did they use as background music? The riff is Personal Jesus by depeche Mode but I'm sure that's a remix of some kind.
@jkarani It was a low-budget episode. You can't expect great SFX all the time :) . Besides, the focus of the episode was on the behaviors of the people, not the monster at all.
I smell a sitcom!
i can see they're breath in the air and they both wear thin jackets!! Are they insane?!?
@Kiel29793 So glad my fumbling can bring smiles. Poor excuse for my numerous spelling/typos, but I comment on yt whilst I'm working... zipping back to my other screen now :)!
Planet of The Spiders haha nice.
Thats one of my favourite episodes.
weee are the eight legged onesss LOL
BTW, did you want to put forth an opinion about RTD/ DT as well?
david moffat- now that's an interesting idea.
I was born in Paisley too:)
Exactly what I was thinking.. :)
i used to always get really excited about dr who with david tennant, cuz its my fave show, with my fave actor n the series always starts near my birthday. now im not too bothered :( it feels like a step down to be watching matt smith. he might be great n i will give him a chance. but pfffttt....
I want jelly babies back!!! :D it would be amazing spoof

@IceMetalPunk And you're right, it's always interesting to see the Doctor lose control.
Read the last four words of the video's description.
I LOVE DAVID TENNANT. im a guy it sounds weird but hes great im not gay but hes brill RIP tennant Doctor who, welcome Matt Smith.
Nope.
That'll be no relation and different spelling.
Steven Moffat
Georgia Moffett - daughter of
Peter Davison who was the fifth Doctor.
Also... is Tennant wearing a Homestar Runner tshirt?! XD
They have like exactly the same accent :D
Hmmm. Yes, you're observation is pedantic, but well taken. I'm well aware of the difference between a possessive and a contraction, honestly!

aww
@allaboutthejazz It's Beware of the dog by Jamelia, she uses the music from Personal Jesus but it isn't actually Personal Jesus.
@allbymysmelf Because this is BBC Worldwide the commercial arm of the BBC.
Hadn't said a word against McGann; just the DW film.He was quite good in The Monocled Mutineer, I've not followed his career.

How did they spell Moffat’s name wrong? Steven*
i miss moffat-rtd
