I remember having been in Pompeii when I was 11, during a schooltrip. It's funny seeing David going exactly where I had been. And also touching when I remember how sad it felt when we arrived to the molded dead people. I still feel a bit sad when I see it 8 years later.
1:19, "It is rather alarmingly smoking... Do we have to worry about that?" Dear David, YOU are rather alarmingly smoking, and you don't see us worrying about that.. ;P
I love the one thing about Doctor Who is that they go back and make sure the history is right. They research well. I love this. D.T. is so down to earth "Unless you were a slave." LOL Awesome. Thanks for posting this!
Molto bene! : ) I love that David is so sensitive about the plight of the victims of the volcano. I found this very moving. I'm not sure I could go there without crying.
What's happening here?! I understood both the Italian tour guide and David's accent clearly. Don't tell me I'm the only one who's interested in hearing about Pompeii more than their accents? Well, and seeing David too.
I feel this is why ancient history should be just as appreciated. 2000 years from now, the Holocaust and WWs will only be textbook chapters when all the voices of personal experience are long gone. Many people brush off ancient history because they feel too removed, or the documentation isn't as thorough to appeal. But that's what makes remembering these events just as precious.
I think the guide's accent is superb, and I love David's as well. I'm from Oklahoma and I have an accent and I believe that "ya'll" is a real word. All peoples of the Earth speak differently. It petty to believe that one accent its better than another. All ya'll people need ta relax and sip on some sweet ice tea, ya hear? ;)
i totally agree, events such as Pompeii or the Holocaust should not be forgotten. I recently went to Sydney for a school tour and we met a survivor of the Holocaust and her story was mesmerising. To think of these sort of things going on to be forgotten is wrong. Oh and BTW loving the sunnies David!!! Molto bene! :)
Everyone seems to be complaining about excellence, but how many of you can speak a second language fluently? And if you can than I’m guessing your natural accent gets in the way
I visited Pompeii back in 2018 it was always was one of the places I wanted to visit because of the history that happened there. It's so sad walking in Pompeii just thinking of how many were trying to flee just to get covered by ash and suffocating.
I am happy that david was in my Italy ^_^ guys we haven't your own accent !the guide speaks English very well....the important thing is that he knows many thing of Pompei!!
Wow. I always found Pompeii fascinating. :D When I was a kid I had a book that had pictures of the excavation and artifacts and I would read it over and over. Same with one I had on the Titanic. :D I'm so jealous.
@NikoKun i miss him too but like he said if he decided to stay he never would have left and we'd have him rolling out of the tardis in a wheel chair. he went out with a bang though and took the tardis console with him.
+Estrid Sophia Baun Ellegaard he chose the 12 doctor's regeneration to remeber himself that he has to save people. But maybe you know it and you are just kidding now :)
i'm italian too and my accent is waaay worse even becouse i don't know spelling some words propely you know we speak as we read texts so there's many difference between being able to write english and being able to speak it , i'm shy too so it's even harder for me =D , watching DW in english with dubtitles helped me rly much anyway.
We see it as a fascinating preserved piece of history, but it was an entire city that was wiped out. It breaks my heart looking at those poor bodies. They must have suffered terribly.
@hikarufly It's awesome that you and Nanami21 recognize the difference between fluency and accuracy! I'm an ESL teacher, and I meet so many people (locals and students) who believe that a person has to have a 100% native-like accent in order to be "truly fluent". Obtaining a native-like accent is virtually impossible if you start learning a second language after age 13 or so.
I know the point of the episode was about the destruction of the city, but I wonder if during his trip they showed him the graffiti and all the raunchy tiles and such. Our tour guide pointed them out and had a giggle or three.
@unbeliveablebuttrue I've been there (I'm from rome), you can still see the people preserved in stone just as they were trying to escape or to protect their children, you can't stand there and watch without crying :(
OH MY GOD!! I WENT THERE LIKE 2 WEEKS AGO AANNNDDD I SAT ON THOSE STEPPING STONES!!! AAAHHHHHHHHH i was running around touching the walls just incase he touched it lol
One of the most recent being Mount Unzen back in the early nineties (1991 if memory serves me correctly), were over 40 journalists were killed by a pyroclastic flow, they died in seconds. Very, very sad. Just a pile of ash was left of their remains.
Were they trying to learn as much as possible for the episode that took place there? Because... that means that the showrunners cared for their show, quite a lot
Is there a particular reason that they have Anthony Head reading commentary for this seasons confidentials...it just seems like an odd thing to have him do....he starred in the School Reunion episode and everything i know..
Yeah I was in the Marines with a guy built like that. I could run 3 miles in about 18 minutes. But my bud, "Roach" was his name, could just fly. He ran it in the low 14 minutes area. David looks like he can fly like that. I've been a film maker for a while now, and that has to include acting sometimes, (If I'm making a film, I might as well be in it! LOL). Staying fit is a priority. You got to have have the energy for long shoots. And well...it's nice to hear girls say "OMG!". LOL
omg! Doctor Who was here in Italy and i didnt know? plus,i'm italian, and i don't know how david could get what the guide was saying....at least ,i didn't.
Yeah, you're right, I'm Italian too, but I went for three months in th US so my accent isn't so bad. But, really, at school we study grammar, not the accent, I think the accent of my English teacher is worse than that guide, he's not bad...
David Tennant. Wearing shades. Are you trying to kill me?
Maria Zdort don't forget his shirt almost halfway unbuttoned!!!
Don't watch Good Omens then XD (actually please do, it's amazing)
Yeah, that could kill even more people than the volcano did, actually.
@@carmenpulinferrer272 🤣🤣 that certainly can.
Its Crowley =DDD
I like that he was concerned about the plight of the slaves. He seems like a wonderful, caring, intelligent person. I miss him as the Doctor.
Good god you posted this 10 years ago, has it really been longer than 10 years since he was the doctor?
@@joesherry6732 I can't believe it either. I still miss him in that role.
@@mgbhighlander Yes same. It isn’t good these days. We will never get what we had with David ever again sadly
I miss him as the doctor but also what time stamp was it where he was worried
@@cavr12cr3 Luckily Russell T Davies is coming back so hopefully some more 10th Doctor episodes 🙏
David: "You look very cool."
Tour Guide: "That's life."
David: *laughs* "Let's hope that's life!"
Me: I wish that was life.
I remember having been in Pompeii when I was 11, during a schooltrip. It's funny seeing David going exactly where I had been. And also touching when I remember how sad it felt when we arrived to the molded dead people. I still feel a bit sad when I see it 8 years later.
David is lookin' good.
That's bc the video is still BC (before children). 😜
The unbutton top shirt
Near 6:25 - You can see Tennant is visibly moved by the solidified bodies that had been trying to escape. I believe I would have been too. :(
😭
They're like fossils!
I wish they had Pompeii in the cold open!
I loooove the guide's accent! It is so brilliantly Italian :)
1:19, "It is rather alarmingly smoking... Do we have to worry about that?" Dear David, YOU are rather alarmingly smoking, and you don't see us worrying about that.. ;P
If I were one of the tourists I would run screaming "Doctor!!"
Eh you would have to trip and break your ankle for it to be legit.
αвѕolυтe αвѕυrd :3 that’s the point of screaming ‘Doctor’
I'm now imagining you running from around a corner, with this music in the background th-cam.com/video/e4OgYrlnrDQ/w-d-xo.html
DOCTOOOR!
I don't know why but the remains of Pompeii give me so much chills
"thats life"
could you be more italian, so chill
and David...che figo!
I love the one thing about Doctor Who is that they go back and make sure the history is right. They research well. I love this. D.T. is so down to earth "Unless you were a slave." LOL Awesome. Thanks for posting this!
Al Pacino's hidden brother,
Molto bene! : ) I love that David is so sensitive about the plight of the victims of the volcano. I found this very moving. I'm not sure I could go there without crying.
I really hope my accent doesn't sound like that. I'm italian and if it sounds like that.. sorry english language! I am, really! :')
I like his accent. I mean, I have to concentrate a bit to follow some of what he says, but I still think it's pretty.
Oh trust me a lot of English speakers love that kind of accent
Was in Pompeii yesterday. I should watch that Doctor Who episode again...
lovely accent!! i love th rise and fall of it, like gentle waves on the shore
What's happening here?! I understood both the Italian tour guide and David's accent clearly. Don't tell me I'm the only one who's interested in hearing about Pompeii more than their accents? Well, and seeing David too.

if I had seen him there I would have FLIPPED OUT!!!!😍😍😍😍
Loving the shorts.
Everyone seems to be complaining about excellence, but how many of you can speak a second language fluently? And if you can than I’m guessing your natural accent gets in the way
.... io mi preoccupo della mia pronuncia inglese... e quello ha parlato con David Tennant... -.-''
As someone taking Geography Pompeii is so cool. Learning about pyroclastic flow is so interesting it’s honestly one of my most favourite lessons.
Well it seems he's on every channel (BBC three and others) I can't receive on my TV, thanks for uploading so I can enjoy it too.
I visited Pompeii back in 2018 it was always was one of the places I wanted to visit because of the history that happened there. It's so sad walking in Pompeii just thinking of how many were trying to flee just to get covered by ash and suffocating.
2020 peeps in quarantine Latin lessons where u at?!
yup
I'm from Finland. It always makes me laugh when someone who's non-finnish say "sauna" 😂😂😂😂
I'm italian and the guide makes piss myself laughing XD XD
I am happy that david was in my Italy ^_^ guys we haven't your own accent !the guide speaks English very well....the important thing is that he knows many thing of Pompei!!
Oh the tourguide has a so strong naples' accent =) it's strange to see David standing there when I grew up in those places =)
Have been there myself.
It s a very strange and moving experience to walk in Pompeii and stand on Vesuvius.
Why would anyone make fun of his accent? That accent is fucking awesome.
sweeeeet! thank you so much! I loved this!
6:22 I saw some of those preserved ashified ancient Romans at a Pompeii display at a museum in 2010.
My god, I am in accent heaven!
Wow. I always found Pompeii fascinating. :D When I was a kid I had a book that had pictures of the excavation and artifacts and I would read it over and over. Same with one I had on the Titanic. :D I'm so jealous.
That was really nice and sensitive for Doctor Who Confidential. David is great would have liked Peter Capoldi to come along too. ♥ ♥
i likew how he was so concerned about the slaves :)
Credo di capire meglio quello che dice David di quello che dice la guida...
*Idem...a me la guida italiana ha fatto sanguinare le orecchie col suo pessimo inglese 9_9*
The guide’s English is excellent in my opinion. Very clear and articulate.
Funny that the Itaian guy has cooler sunglasses on than David's shades.
@NikoKun i miss him too but like he said if he decided to stay he never would have left and we'd have him rolling out of the tardis in a wheel chair. he went out with a bang though and took the tardis console with him.
does it not create a paradoks? I mean, the 10 and 12th doctor is in same room? And the future companion is there to... Mind blown
+Estrid Sophia Baun Ellegaard he chose the 12 doctor's regeneration to remeber himself that he has to save people. But maybe you know it and you are just kidding now :)
santo939 Thank you
are you kidding me? that guide's accent is awesome!

That's a great Floyd Concert, funnily enough was watching it only a few months back lol..

Man... the history of Pompeii.... brings me back to Latin class in middle school.
I know the point of the episode was about the destruction of the city, but I wonder if during his trip they showed him the graffiti and all the raunchy tiles and such. Our tour guide pointed them out and had a giggle or three.
OH MY GOSH?!?!? David Tennant was at Pompeii? I've been to Pompeii!! WHY did I not know this sooner?
2:11
thanks for sharing!!
I've got The Fires of Pompeii and the 2014 film Pompeii on DVD.
I've always been fascinated by Pompeii. At 6:18 DT is probably thinking these people died here and they're on display....centuries ago.
David standing there as if he didn't cause Pompeii in the first place 😏
omg he looookksss so fit there
That man took me and a few other people on a tour of Pompei. He kept getting quite angry and having a go at people.
@unbeliveablebuttrue I've been there (I'm from rome), you can still see the people preserved in stone just as they were trying to escape or to protect their children, you can't stand there and watch without crying :(
I went to Italy with my family. We passed by Pompeii leaving Napoli for Ravello. I wanted to go to Pompeii :(
The water, eh?
OMG il suo accento...
Fizzy Desy è bello sapere che non sono l'unica italiana a cui sanguinano le orecchie
1:09 there's a Dalek, doctor.
Add useful (learning stuff) to pleasure (David, his glasses, his shirt...)
Ha detto torti fit
Been there. It's a huge area. Very interesting
OH

Hell, with those glasses David looks EXACTLY like my Latin teacher...
Very interesting gear TV Tennant
I’m loving the accent lol
"unless you were a slave" lol
I love David's laugh at 2:11 :)
Were they trying to learn as much as possible for the episode that took place there? Because... that means that the showrunners cared for their show, quite a lot
There's a Tardis in the background at 8:00.
That’s because he’s Russel T Davies
Sounds like Anthony Stewart Head is doing his Mr Finch or Giles Voice and not his normal accent
David, that shirt is pornographic and should be illegal. I love you.
The tour guide sounded like Mario and luigi mashed together...cool!!!
They could be speaking Esperanto.... He is gorgeous
why does the Italian man remind me of Flavio Vargas AKA 2p romano
Hetalia!! Two of my favorite fandoms in this one video
HE SAID KNOW WHEN IT BLOWS! HEHEHEHEHE I ABSOLUTELY
Okay where's Peter Capoldi? Two of them in Fires of Pompeii.
envidiaaaa, yo quiero ir!!!!
I learn more about volcanos in this video than during my sciences lessons lol
Also he's freaking cute 😩
Is there a particular reason that they have Anthony Head reading commentary for this seasons confidentials...it just seems like an odd thing to have him do....he starred in the School Reunion episode and everything i know..

Everyone talking about the accent, but he's forgetting the pyroclastic flows. Pyroclast is the key.
omg! Doctor Who was here in Italy and i didnt know? plus,i'm italian, and i don't know how david could get what the guide was saying....at least ,i didn't.
@8cocoriko8 già xD
David you are a great man and a great actor! :D
hey guys, before you make fun of the guide for his accent, stop and remember; david tennant has an accent too!
Do you have the whole episode of Doctor Who Confidential?
Come sempre gli italiani si fanno riconoscere....
Well David, you're cool as always!
Yeah, you're right, I'm Italian too, but I went for three months in th US so my accent isn't so bad. But, really, at school we study grammar, not the accent, I think the accent of my English teacher is worse than that guide, he's not bad...
David's been in Italy! My country! (But I promise you, not all italians speak with the accent of the guy in the beginning O___O)
o.0 holly kittens... you're right!! :O
David Tennant acting like he didn't do it himself
Was this before or after the "Fire of Pompeii" episode?
LMFAO OMG XD
I've been there.
