This is just my opinion as a CV 4th gen immigrant in the US who wants to learn Kriolu and has started the process of learning a language my family never passed down. Kriolu isn't that well published or accessible as a language in comparison to Brazilian Portuguese. However, I feel the dialect can be picked up as long as there's a basic foundation of the general language. Accent and colloquial words will come as one travels and participates in the local culture/ community. It's weird that you say most CVs don't speak Portuguese when that's the official language and schools and official offices speak Portuguese. But obviously, Kriolu is spoken informally and is most used within daily life. It was nice to see a video of my family's home country and hear the language outside of a song.
