Do you know what 3rd world country means? Its terminology used from the Cold War, to show whom countries were sympathetic towards.
1st World: USA, Nato and allies
2nd World: USSR, China, communist allies.
      3rd world: everybody else.
Yes, Mexico is 3rd world, not because of development or anything of the sort, but because you didn't pick side in the cold War.
Poland is 1st World, yet poor as hell.
Brazil is rich, has one of the strongest economies, but is 3rd world.
Calling Mexico 3rd World isn't offensive my friend. It is just not understood what it means

I love this comparison! But is almond milk really $5.97 in the USA? That seems so expensive. I feel like it’s only $3-4 cdn in Canada so $2-$3 USD
And toothpaste $6.45 USD🤔, ive never seen it that expensive, more like $1.30 Cnd so $1 USD
Maybe your location was throwing off US prices? 🤔
You should try this again sometime for fun 😉

The price of an almond milk buying it from the regular supermarket is about $3 USD on average, however with the recent inflation you might find them to $4-5 USD. Prices here are a bit more expensive than in other states in Mexico because it's a very touristic area.

So that you know....a majority of food and crops are cultivated for export to the rest of North America. Therefore, they use monoculture mass production methods. The informal shops often sell what they cant export: too ripe, spotted, or oddly shaped. It's not organic. You have to go to a specialty tianguis that explicitly says organic, like in lake chapala or san Miguel or CDMX. Otherwise, your just eating what they couldn't export. I imagine they may grow a few crops organically for local consumption but not much. Hence why a lot of what you showed had bar code stickers on it.

Nice aerial view of the town 👍. used to work at a supermarket and it really depends on if you do your homework and check out the sales from different supermarkets you might get a good deal in the US sometimes two for a dollar but it’s the mini avocados 🥑
As far as price comparison with Walmart I wouldn’t know because I do not ever shop there since I saw a documentary of their business practices and how they’re very strict with the prices and unfortunately they import a lot of their products from China and they are known to be very anti-union and outprice the mom and pops 🤷🏻‍♂️ anyway I don’t mean to be a Debbie downer but I had fun watching your video 👍🇲🇽

You say in 1:34 that being vegetarian or vegan in Mexico can be a challenge.... Literally everything they eat can be eaoly converted to vegetarian or vegan.... I make alot of Mexican inspired food myself, so I'm not saying this out of speculation, but out of knowledge of their foodstuffs.
I mean, much of their food does contain meat I know, but you can substitute this for anything you want.

    • @ForTheRoadTravels
      @ForTheRoadTravels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hola Michael🙋🏻‍♀️😊 thank you so much for watching! I totally agree that Mexican food, particularly from the Yucatán Peninsula can be moldeable to a vegan or vegetarian version, however our experience of this, is that most traditional meals from this region either contain meat or cheese and cream. Without those two things, you’d end up getting something corn based, maybe with some salsa and lettuce and that’s about it🤭 in terms of buying meat alternatives (like Beyond meat patties) or vegan hot dogs - I’ve seen practically no options in the supermarkets we shop at. Perhaps other regions particular cuisine may offer some better alternatives, and perhaps their shops carry more vegan/vegetarian options🤷🏻‍♀️ that k you so much for your input, we really value constructive feedback 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Saludos desde PDC 🇲🇽
