Holy smoke. I haven't heard that music in over thirty years. Still remember it, though, at almost 50. Soooo many hours spent playing this game. My highest level was Day 77. No idea what my final score was, but it was well over a million. The morg generated from the top pair of cacti to the bottom, so the strategy was to park by the top pair and destroy it as soon as the Morg popped out. Work your way down until there were no more cacti pairs to generate Morgs, and then you could clean up all the tumbleweeds without distraction. Problem was, the Morg would move faster and faster, so if you missed one, it got tricky to keep catching them as they generated. Man. Memories.
The objective was to shoot the Morgs near they're white base (the bases formed only if two cactuses (cacti?) were touching or next to each other) .... if you shoot the Morgs near the base or surrounding cacti then the cacti and base and Morg dissapear. Be careful however because shooting a Morg can create a seperate cactus itself. What you need to do is make sure there are no cacti stood next to each other. Then when all cacti stand alone, you progress a day.
Interesting how misleading the title and intro are (this game and Chisholm Trail) - Is this another western adventure simulation game like The Oregon Trail? Surprise, it's a sci-fi shooter!
Not as bad as "Hustle" where the intro (and the manual artwork) suggests a horse race game, but it turns out to be a standard 1970's/80's growing snake game.. a good example of the genre, and a fun game, but what possessed the TI marketing department to include a horse race theme in the intro and documentation??? (remembering that the manual cover forms the box art on TI packaging). At least Chisolm Trail and Tombstone City looked like what they were on a store shelf.
I remember playing this game when I was a kid. I had to TH-cam it to show my son. Lol lucky kid has the world at his figure tips as radical leftus rage in the streets. Yeah, i went political
I wanted to like this game but couldn’t. Even as a kid I found it boring and repetitive. Not the Wild West action game I was hoping for. That game was Slymoids one of the absolute coolest games and classics on the TI994A.

So many memories of my childhood over thirty years ago!
Sweet Jesus, I thought I was just about the only person who ever played this.

Very similar to "The Attack", also for the TI-99/4A.
I forgot what happens when you block yourself in the center with the cacti. I think you just stay trapped.
This was one of my favorites! Some gameplay music would have been nice. I can't imagine I had the volume on this too loud.
Press "2 for Tombstone City". 2. Always 2. Poor "1 for TI Basic" only ever got chosen when Dad was looking over my shoulder.
I just did the math, based on Royal Bank of Canada's inflation stats, and this game priced $39.95 in 1981 would cost $105.88 in 2015!
This and Parsec were my favorite games before NES came out when I was 5.
I used to walk 3 miles to a mates house just to play this (I only had a ZX81). Couldn't get that tune out v my head when going home.
Best theme song ever!
I forgot all about this game, it was surprisingly addictive.
I used to play this game as a kid. :)
Song's my jam
Another game I liked!
Hard to believe I thought this was fun as a kid.
😂 this is basically the same game as the attack.
