This game certainly brings back childhood memories. I remember this being the first game console we owned and we spent hours playing this game. I had a play pattern set for the game and scored over a million points. Yep, those were the days. :-)

I remember watching my dad play this game! Loved the sounds. First computer we had,, 1983. My parents bought some educational modules (those cartridges) for my sister and I to learn English grammar & spelling. Yeah, mostly I was stuck doing non-fun things on this computer...

My mom played it once. She didn't fail, just kept going and going. Then she decided she was bored and had other things to do. Kid me was amazed at her skill then confused because why would you stop at a game you're whining? I assume she played a lot of Pac Man before I was born.

theres such a weird almost other worldly quality to these ti 99 games looking back on it after so many years, hard to really explain. logo screen at the beginning is trippy as hell. there was such a direct connection between you and the game back then. these were the games that made me love gaming.

I hear you! The title screen is crazy sounding! And I just listened to it with had phones and you can hear the strange background noise getting higher and higher pitched as it plays! 😵‍💫 I like it!

My mom and I had a set route we'd use. That especially came in handy for Level 20, where the walls are invisible.

Alexandra Yes, I was told if you followed a certain pattern the ghosts or what ever they are just follow a fixed route so you can finish a level with only 3 power ups.

I loved this game as a kid, as well as the Pac-Man it spoofed. And I liked the idea of TI logos as power pills.

As a 9 year old, I enjoyed solving new mazes and the first time solving the 20th level felt like we beat the game! Then saw in the manual that it repeats up to 60.
The highest level I made it to ever was 35. The sticks, as we called them then, were ruthless! My favorite level was 4, the baby squares.

Recently, I learned that there is a cheat code that brings you to the last level and you can also select how many lives do you get. I think it maxes out at five and I was not able to beat level 60 the enemies are too fast. Fun to try though.

My first computer, Christmas 1982. Didn't have a joystick, so I had to position the keyboard on my lap so I could manipulate the direction buttons. Kids these days with their Playboxes and Xstations. Did Munchman ship with the computer?

This was a fun Pac-Man clone. I actually made it past level 20, the one with the invisible maze.

  • @Optimalillusion

Somebody once did a modern redo of the game under the name MunchMates. It has three versions. Munch Matey is the main clone, Munch Missy is a new maze set up, and Munch Proto is how the original game was planned as a more traditional Pac-Man dot eater before they changed to filling the maze.

I made it to level 20 one time but never got past level 19 after that. This was my favorite TI game. TI Invaders was a good one also. The modulator kept going out on it. After about are 10th Modulator my father said no more.

That awful joystick it came with that was half the length it should have been and stiff as anything was so un-ergonomic. I developed what looked like a stigmata by playing this game!

    • @Miler97487
      @Miler97487 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That's why there were third party converters available at the time that would allow you to use up to two Atari compatible joysticks which, depending on the joystick you were using was often a giant improvement. Oh, and you can even use a Sega Genesis controller as they were Atari compatible too. My father bought a converter because he went through three pairs of TI joysticks that broke.

This game was much more fun than playing PacMan on the Atari 2600. Wish this game would have been ported to the Intellivision, back in the day. At least, someone remade it for Android and I can still play it today on my phone.

I remember playing this game against my younger sister.. she would get upset that I would go after her tank and shoot it.. (it would spin in a circle and go back to stating position).. I also loved trying to shoot all the mines then destroy the outside boarder (non-mines).. before time was up. fun times lol

My dad was good at this game. He could get to level 60, which was an inverse level. I seated of laying down the track, you were picking it up. The caveat was that the board was invisible. It was tricky to keep a mental map of the board as you neared the end

You croaked at the end of level 3! Some tricky backdown maneuvers will usually work to distract them, except once you get to 12th level or so they are less easily manipulated. You need to get used to their movements and anticipate your power needs. Lives lost are worth 10,000 points so trading lives to chase merely up to 6,000 points on the board is the biggest way to ensure your own downfall. The extra points must be incidental, in order to command the game. There are ways to eat all 4 men and eat chain without jeopardizing your lives in reserve.
