I like to think we were the only 2500 children in the world who got to play "The Attack" on a T1-99/4A. Playing this aged 5 felt pretty unique. No kids at school knew what the fuck I was talking about "The Attack". It was all about Pacman.
Well for one, the strange tiny bug things that are everywhere and crawl around slowly until they merge into large bugs that come after you. Also the sounds. I think you had to be there... in the '80s.
It was originally meant to be "Alien Attack" based off of the Alien movie (1979), so yeah, they wanted to try and capture the element of fear, and just imagine all those Black incubators as eggs from the movie or even cocoons from Aliens 2, now there you have one scary game! :)*
The Attack, Chisolm Trail and Tombstone (Saguaro) City are signature TI games that do not resemble any other games of the time. To be fair they really had not imagined what was possible from the hardware (the 4A with it's advanced graphic capabilities was yet to hit store shelves), and early TI and MB programmer's lacked the imagination to foresee where video games were headed. Of course now we can even play Portal (written in TI-Basic no less) on our stock 4A's. (who would have even dreamed of a game like Portal (Aperture) in 1980?)
I dig the opening music. I want to play this on my keyboard... does anyone have the sheet music for it? I bet it would sound even better with more realistic instruments (rather than Texas ones).
A long time ago, I recreated the song in Impulse Tracker, entirely from memory. It didn't take long since it's a short loop with only 3 parts. One part uses only a single note, one part is silent most of the time, and the other part carries the memorable main theme.
I totally forgot about this game until I saw it running in the background of another video and some deep part of my brain got reactivated. Now I need to find an emulator

Us TI kids knew it was all about Munchman 😂. Actually they did put out some pretty decent games for the TI-99. Parsec and TI invaders were great ones.

i really love this games of my childhood. Ti Invaders is my fav at all! But this game is also fantastic
