@KenMochii Honestly, I think World had my favorite implementation of axe mode so far. They realized that no matter what they did, being in sword mode was going to be the best damage because that's what you built up to, so they gave axe mode another purpose altogether. Being in Power Axe Mode and having Partbreaker took out tails and other parts so fast, lol. The best situation for me would be combine the partbreak modifier from World and the phial explosions from Rise, and axe mode would be perfect.
Biased, but HH sits on top in terms of difficulty. There are 2-3 'perfect rush' combos that implement timed presses, the offset attack is locked behind a song, knowing all the buffs that exist affects how you make builds, the focus strike is hard to hit with and changing the song list will literally change your optimal combos. And that's not even all of it!
Being a Lance player there are a lot of problems with Lance Good things are the Mid Thrust, insta guard, sweep, focus mode, and the streamline done to the weapons. This is good for basic Lance players, but for people that been using the Lance for years, there are some real problems with the weapon. First, it moves slower and has higher recovery time on moves high thrust, guard dash, and leaping thrust are a few examples. Guard Dash and Leaping thrust delays kill the Guard Dash and Leaping thrust combos. The charge counter is one of the biggest problems with the new Lance, and the High Thrust does not feel like there is a use for it. I want to improve on the current Lance and its ideas. I have been working on new ways to make the High Thrust for Wilds feel better and I think this is the best way to help the Counter Thrust feel better in Wilds. I showed this to multiple people and think it would greatly help. High Thrust doesn't feel like it has its own identity that distinguishes and I feel like giving it a Press and Hold mechanic would help. High Thrust: O = Press Counter Thrust: Ô = Hold Mid Thrust A = Press Ô O + Ô O + O + Ô O + O + O + (O or Ô) A + O + Ô A + A + O + (O or Ô) This way when performing the high Thrust it gives it more depth and holds a more traditional way of playing the Lance. I feel like there might have been a bug as the last Thrust in the three-hit combo doesn't increase. I want to bring back the complexity that Lance had and I want more flashy moves for the weapon like a Shield Bash added on to the Dash Attack. To me as a Lance user, I like the ideas they have for the weapon but I feel like they missed the mark. I feel like speeding the Lance up and fixing the delays, a Press and Hold mechanic the Counter Thrust and High Thrust, and flashy moves would be good. Lastly, Lance needs to do something with the Grappling Hook
Idk I've been playing the lance since 4u and I honestly like the reinvention of the tool kit, it feels fresh. It took me awhile to break the habit of how I usually use the counter poke, especially finding out i was to release the attack during a monster's hitbox instead of having the attack collide. It's guarding power and damage make it really rewarding to use. The weapon is well designed in my opinion, it will be interesting to see if anything changes later down the road
@@Rkilla7I agree with what you said here. I just find parts of the Lance to feel less good, Mainly the Leaping Thrust, high thrust, and Counterthrust. The mid-thrust and new guard counter options are really nice, and I can feel the impact of those changes. I do agree that they are a nice refresh for the Lance. Those parts feel good. I do think they will change some aspects of the Lance. I don't see the Counter Thrust changes I've been talking about anytime soon or ever, but I do think it will feel less slow and less Clunky. I'm looking forward to the Lance, but I feel like High Thrust could represent old/new Lance with what I said while keeping most of what's new with Lance. But you coming from 4u makes sense as this Lance is more 4u than a World or Rise Lance.
I really liked your list but I would have placed the lance in hard. It is one of the more advanced weapons in the series, in my opinion. Love the content bro
You think so? I’d say if you’ve never played the game before, you could take it out and do well with it relatively easily, which carries a lot of weight for me when rating them! Definitely an enormous skill ceiling for though
GUYS GUYS A CHAIN WEAPON IS IN THE CODE IM NOT HUFFING COPIUM I SWEAR, ok but srs talk. Please Capcom i would glade you for fucking hard, YOU HAVE THE CONCEPT, YOUVENT MADE A NEW WEAPON IN IDK HOW LONG, AND NOW YOU HAVE A FLAGSHIP THAT WOULD WORK FUCKING PERFECTLY WITH THAT CONCEPT (arkvelds chains) CAPCOM PLEASE I WOULD MAIN IT IN AN INSTANT
This version of Insect Glaive is quite easy to play...as long as you're keyboard and mouse. Turn on focus mode to auto collect essence, hold right click (circle), do a left click combo (triangle), release when you're not going to get pounded. The only time you really need to directly control the kinsect is to get red buff (need to charge) and the only decision points are whether to vault and whether to do the finisher. This version of IG is considerably different from the previous one and the inability to hold circle while also doing everything else is a large contributor to the negative reaction but the core loop is *really* simple and you can easily reposition at will via vault.
I hear you. I think the management, process order, and combo inputs make it all a bit more complex vs something like Hammer. You’re totally right though
long sword easy to learn? Hmmm... to press buttons yes, to understand how it is supposed to function, yes, but to put this theory into practice : hell no it is a VERY high skill celling weapon!
Can't argue with these ratings, they're fair. I think your own learning style and combat preference makes a huge difference with weapons. I'm normally an archer in many games but I just don't click with Bow in MH. I normally don't want slower, big, clunky weapons but me and Hammer are besties. Monster Hunter just has its own style and rhythm. It's incredible bang for your buck because each weapon changes gameplay so much, it's like a new game. And with Wilds allowing a second weapon in field, it's even more opportunity to try different experiences on the fly. And I absolutely cannot wait for release! The Beta was so fun!
They’re always SUPER objective to the player, for sure! Some folks just click with more complex weapons yet cannot comprehend ones with a minimal toolkit! These should always be viewed through that lens haha
Please bring back Bullet Barrage. It's the most fun I had with the Gunlance and, while the new combos and sharpness loss redux for shells are a huge boon for playing the weapon straight, there's nothing that gives me so much joy as turning myself into a living projectile
We can't rate Gunlance yet, Wide and Long shelling hasn't been shown, having 3 types of gameplays in one weapon it's what is appealing in it, not that is as complex as Charge Blade but it does adds an extra layer of complexity specially when X or Y Monster is better dealed with either Normal, Wide or Long Shelling, other than that everything checks out, good video my dude.
Appreciate it, however we can rate whatever we like at any stage! Only with the caveat that it’s based off the slice we’ve seen. OBT is of course not going to be **fully** representative of the full game. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I like playing with SwAxe in MH:World and it was my favorite weapon which was pretty easy to playing, especially with the right build. How much harder is SwAxe to play compared to old games?
Do they still have the spinning move from world regarding the hunting horn? I felt they should of kept the version from rise as a light alternative for players
They destroyed charge blade unfortunately because they locked savage axe behind perfect guard and power class. In iceborne you could activate it anytime you wanted. That's a shame. RIP CBLADE. I will try gunlance for my main in wilds a weapon that i never played in iceborne.
My personal rubric for evaluating "difficulty" is split into two parts: knowing What to do and knowing How to do it. Basically, the "What" covers the decisions you need to make with a weapon. The general flow and gameplay of the things you should be doing. "How" covers the technical execution of the weapon to get it to actually do the thing you want it to do. Charge Blade imo is a difficult "How" weapon because of the inputs you need to do to. But it's actually a fairly easy "What" weapon. Fill phials, morph, SAED, rinse and repeat. Of course, this has been remedied in Wilds. And the other weapons will all be different combinations of their positions on these two rubrics.
a cool way to break it down! I'd say the "what" on CB is still hard, when you factor in charging shield, activating savage axe etc. just a whole lot of process order
@LightItUpDan Tbh, charging your shield isn't really a decision you need to make (do I or do I not?). As part of the overall flow of getting to SAED, you always want to do it when possible. Savage Axe happens naturally because you really only get it from perfect guards and focus strikes. When I hunt with CB I don't really need to think of what I need to do.
@@LightItUpDan Familiar with the "How" part, yes. Again, 2 different parts. Figuring out what to do was simple, even when I was new to it. How to do it was what took most of my time during that learning process.
Ok so I know this is controversial but the Lance is Weak AF and that's why no one plays it it has absolutely nothing to do with it being simple or easy it's just 20% less damage...

Can you make a settings guide for PC & controller users for wilds once the game drops?
@@joncallando3285 perhaps yeah!
Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to try the Wilds beta, but I'm so hyped that my main (Switch Axe) is getting a sword parry, can't wait!
The moveset is very fun, but it needs a buff to damage. Sword parry could use a bit more armor, too.
Hopefully we’ll get another demo before release!
Hope you get to enjoy another beta bruv!
Love the Switch Axe with Wilds, they finally gave a reason to be in axe mode too, felt like I was in sword mode 90% of the time with it on World.

These weapon icons look sick, bro.
Amazing work by the legendary Gaudium!
Every monster hunter game I switch my main, and ai think this time, its time to start woth heavy gun and daggers.
Or maybe gun lance instead of daggers, who knows 😂

The fact that it has a Shield should not make it deal less damage they should balance the blocking and damage.
Especially in a PvE game there's No Reason to complain about a buff especially to one of the least popular weapons
True
I main hammer/bow but tried learning lance. Made a perfect build, but it's just too clunky for me to ever want to use. It needs a rework/buff.
It’s not controversial so much as inaccurate! Lance absolutely wrecks, you gotta keep uptime high
