The “new” S10 gets a fuel pump replacement

  • Here we are with another one. My grandfather snagged this s10 a few prior to replace the ford ranger that got wrecked. Among some other small things the fuel pump was on the list of “need to fix” and it decided to move itself to the number one spot.
So this is the video log of going down to his house and swapping out the pump! Thank you for watching!

I used to drive an '03 S10 2.2 auto at my old job and that thing was so slow it was dangerous. It always had some weight in the back, which didnt help things. Although i must admit it was a sturdy, dependable little unit. Finally lost a head gasket at 350k mi which is super impressive considering the thing worked every day of its life and was abused. If i were to ever own one of these it would HAVE to be with the 4.3.

I actually was able to fix the ignition in that truck, and the “limp mode” was due to a TCM power source that had gotten cut from the ignition harness when the truck was stolen. I was able to track that down and fix it too. It actually ended up driving out great once that was taken care of!

It’s a love/hate relationship with the avalanche. Mines a New Jersey native, so there’s some rust underneath. Do a thorough inspection before you buy, check for rust at the rear behind the plastic body cladding. Look underneath for leaks. Especially rear main seal area. Check the trans fluid, this is a 4L60 after all. 😅 otherwise, it cruises good, gets horrible fuel economy but damn it looks good going down the road!
