Rod Greaves hey, there. You still liking that Volvo? I'm considering a used Volvo wagon, but as a current Mercedes owner I am all but traumatized by expensive maintenance and repair costs 😭😭😭😭
@@reallyhappenings5597 I own a 05 XC70 and the key is allowing the air mass flow sensor to rev the engine on start up around 1100 rpms for about 30 sec and the revs go down to 900 rpms all without hitting the gas pedal allowing the thermostat to open. The car actually tells you when it's ready to go. I got 230k on my mine she runs mint.
I love older Volvos, they're very unique interiors, but also nice interiors~ Obviousy the Volvo we have now is completely different in terms of design language and quality, but it is nice to see what the older Volvo interiors were like. I see quite a lot of newer Volvos, mainly the XC90. But with Volvo cars, it's nice to see how well they integrate the practicality in their vehicles with some cool quirks. It's nice to see the Swedish quirks, as we're all used to Japanese, American, and German cars.
Thanks for showing Volvo some love! Their crossovers are pretty popular and I still see a good number of 240's around. I'm disappointed we don't get the V40, I hope Volvo stays around.
You never mentioned the diesel they are by far the best choice for the xc70 as they produce more torque and get far better mpg than the petrol versions
I think the 3.2 is more than fine for 95% of duties. These wagons are for hauling the tribe cross-country and conquering snowcapped highway peaks. If you're gunning it often, I think you bought the wrong kind of vehicle to begin with. The 3.2 will likely be less maintenance and can run on the cheaper gas. Once you're up to highway speeds everybody is going the same pace anyway.
Ford owned Volvo between 1999 and 2008, which is why Volvos have similarities with Fords. I too love the seats, but Volvo does have a lot of competition. BMW, Mercedes, and even Cadillac make several popular luxury station wagons.
Thanks so much for the review! Almost had one of these over the Tundra. Though as you said, the MPGs on the T6 is just about what we get in our V8 truck. Anyways, gotta love a good Volvo wagon!
Just watched your review of the newer Mazda 6 - that one's available around the world as a wagon, and it looks great. We're down to the XC70 and e-class wagons as the only larger ones in the US. Looking forward to the v80 that's said to be coming soon-ish - but with all the wagon drop-outs of the past few years in the US (A6, 5-series, V70, Passat etc) I think a model like the Mazda 6 could do well.
I don't know, looking at this in 2020 and comparing it to the current v90 and v60, yes, those cars look more stylish and swoopier. But, there's something I like better about the consistent height of the windows for visibility, a vertical hatch and the flow of this car. To me, this car doesn't look old-fashioned, heck, the Kia Telluride has this sort of consistent flow look to it. Yes, the new ones are nicer inside but this isn't bad. The v70 is something Volvo could still make or they should market the v60/v60 cc more. I'm kind of tired of seeing so many SUVs from Volvos and so few current wagons from them.
I've always liked Volvos as much as Subarus, but they were always out of my price range. With that being said, since Subaru has the Forester and Outback and seems to be letting the Tribeca go, I always thought it would be smart of Subaru to move the Outback more upmarket (it is already a couple grand more than the Legacy). It seems like it wouldn't be a stretch since the platform is shared with the Legacy.
I feel like you missed the main components the problem here is you were to Young ? Revving the engine, listening to the exhaust sound, how fast you can go are what teenagers and kids in there 20s look for . Safe, like auto stop , anti-lock brakes, and a load of other features you missed, who is your audience? ,
My father had a 2004 V70R, which was very fast but very stiff riding. He currently has a 2002 V70XC and it's a nice ride but it's sloooooow. That's why I am curious about adding more power!
I'd much rather have the 3.2 in the premier plus or platinum package. Then going with the T5 Or T6 engines. Those turbos will break down eventually and you'll pay quite a hefty price for repairing them when they do. Not to mention they operate FAR FAR better on 91 octane gas which can get expensive. Where as the 3.2 models are fine using 87 octane and have MORE then enough horsepower to get the job done.
You should try out a new 2014 S60. You would be very surprised at what a different car it is from the XC70 wagon. Truthfully the current XC70 wagon's suspension has been re-tuned and drives much better than the 2010. In the year 2014 a 2015 model XC90 will be coming out. Hopefully a new XC60 will follow.
Volvos are known for their amazing seats and safty haha. I love volvos the only problem is there engines they are all lacking power in my personal opinion all their engines could use a little boost not so much that its crazy but just a little bit more to make it a more desireable company I've driven all volvos haha
These wagons may be stylish and fun to drive, but it is not very efficient. A diesel model would be nice for the American market, but I don't think Volvo USA has enough finances to make it happen.
you're right it almost looks like artificial leather...though i'm sure it's just a different type/form of leather. whatever it is it sure looks comfortable...
Because you'll pay a premium for repairing that turbo down the line. Along with having to use higher octane gas to get the most of out the turbo engine. The 3.2 is MORE than sufficient in horsepower and uses 87 octane.
You did on my car. Late 2009 Uk car. Cars later than this one with different head unit set up, still had slot and button but you didn’t have to put the key in.
Bro, you literally turned the engine and revved the living crap out of it after it was on for 3 seconds. You need to probably know a little bit more about the car before you do a review. Thanks for browsing the manual before your "review"... Volvo is NOT a niche car, either, its a very popular car. "One of the rare people looking for a station wagon??? huh? Have you not seen how many are on the road at any given time? This particular Volvo and the xc 90 and now the xc60 sell like pancakes. You're a cool, laid back dude it seems, I'm just joking...somewhat...hahhaa. Volvo enthusiasts and wagon enthusiasts on top of that have to take up for some of the comments said here though. P.S.: you always need AWD...lol. Anyway, Peace!
Nice car but I was so distracted by all those rediculously large trucks sitting around it with their daft chrome or plastic noses ;o) If I was a family man and needed a car like this, I'd take an estate over an suv anyday, suvs have no class or grace :o( Love the sound of the engine :o) Aha, I wondered what the strange wind noise was :o)
I own a 2013 T6AWD and love it. Just took it cross country. What a blast-tons of power and wonderful comfort. Best car I every purchased.

I swear that when this guy prepares to do a review, he picks one word and attempts to use it as much as possible. That days word was PRACTICAL
And... loyal.
Practically so
I hope you let the vehicle engine temperature warm up before revving the crap out of it.
truth, dude dogging it out. its not a c30...

Really great review!!!
I, personally, am a big fan of wagons, and this is one of my favorites.
We were wondering the same thing, we did like the styling of this car a lot.

Thank you for the review, this helps alot with making my decision in buying this car
Volvos always have the most comfortable seats.
.Great blend of knowledge skepticism and experience. I'm subscribing.
What makes you think the engine was cold? It was up to full running temperature the whole time...

I love my Volvo !! 217k on my 95 Volvo 850
This is the first time i've seen a XC70 without a diesel engine! Such a different market is the US!
The V70 wagon IS still in production, it´s just not imported to the US anymore.
I love these cars. I'm considering replacing my GTI with one in a few years
Bought a Wagon yesterday the Volvo has 121,000 miles 2010 no accidents

Nice Review Of 2010 Volvo XC70. 😁

There's no better way to clear the cobwebs then by revving the hell out of an engine, better still if it's cold. :(

The holy grail of Volvo mods is the R engine in the XC70, at least for the P2's
