    Bullsh!t! These are the nicest looking Volvos in the entire range IMHO.

    It's not a 3 liter 6 cylinder diesel, it's a 2.4liter, 5-cylinder, twinturbo.
    The T6 is a 3 liter 6 cylinder. apart from that small mistake, it was a really professional and good review!

    I have had an XC70 2011 for the last 3 years. Its currently on 75,000 miles. Utterly dependable, decent size, reliable (always get Volvo servicing) and solid car. I like the plastic lower trim to protect the paintwork. Only complaints are strange windscreen fogging on damp warm days (putting heater on and AC to dry the air seems strange - have I got a fault or is this "normal"?) and bloody electronic handbrake - the curse of modern cars. Satnav is clunky and slow with rotary dial to input locations (who needs one with an Iphone?) but it is a 2011 car. Great winter car and amazing in the snow. We bought a bloody huge Thule top box and go camping a few times a year with wife, two kids, dog and stuff. Very comfortable on long runs. Its not a sports car but sits very nicely at 80mph for cruising. I may buy some winter tyres on steel rims and rotate my wheels and tyres twice a year. I am 54 and my mates take the piss a bit and call it an old mans car but I like it a lot! I put in a heavy duty new battery last winter and apart from getting the Haldex oil changed I have had just Volvo servicing when recommended. I like the solid unfussy look of it. Rugged grrrrr but its not an SUV. Good compromise between SUV/4X4 for those that don't need lots of offroad performance but like the security of AWD and drive occasionally on muddy tracks, wet fields or snow. Good ground clearance. Do newer models have inflatable suspension to lift the car like newer XC90'S? I get up very early for work in the winter and its great in horrible dark weather. I wish mine had the "Winter Pack" with heated seats and heated wing mirrors etc - something lacking on my vehicle. Leather is cold in a big vehicle on early morning cold starts but it warms up reasonably quickly for a big car. I might treat her to new Xenon headlight bulbs if I keep her this winter. I may chop mine in and buy.......another XC70! Something I have never done before - buy the same model twice. I have considered XC90's but they don't get great reviews on handling, noise, fuel consumption. An estate is great 95% of the time and a big roof box for camping trips adds sufficient extra storage space for holidays. We also have a camping trailer - it tows nicely but I havent tried it with anothing heavy like a caravan or large trailer. I would probably get automatic next as mine is the slightly rarer manual 6 speed. Definitely far better than the VW Passat estate Bluemotion it replaced. Simon

      Simon, I have the same issue with my windshield/side Glass fogging up and either run the windshield defogger/AC or slightly crack both front windows but I'm learning to adjust the temperature just enough to keep things clear.

    Thanks for your comment, we really appreciate it. We are maybe looking at getting another XC70 - just for fun really - so we will definitely look at its 'nimble tank' like personality if we do. Thanks again!

    I was very happy with my XC90 so bought one of these to replace it, a 2010 60 plate SE Lux with Polestar engine upgrade (225BHP). It is 2 generations on from the XC90 which was based on the 1990s S80 platform and the difference is incredible. It is highly capable, extremely stable on the motorway, however the handling is ultimately compromised by high centre of gravity and soft suspension. Drove 665 miles on a single tank from La Rochelle to Cambridge fully loaded with 5 people on board...

    • @pav85rez
      @pav85rez 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrTrainFrog well, you gotta admit that the new V90 CrossCountry is a very good successor of our beloved XC70. Better in every one discipline. Only with one small flaw compared to XC70; the shape of the tail gate. The almost straight tail gate on XC70 makes it very practical for loading boxes and also keen for dogs to look out from the rear window. The inclined window on V90 is a disadvantage in that way

    "Power comes from a six cylinder, three litre turbodiesel"
    I don't know how it is in the UK, but here in Scandinavia, the D5 is a five cylinder, 2.4l turbodiesel ;)

    Just to clarify, my driving experience with Volvos is with 850s, XC70s, and an XC90. So I can't say the S60 has the nimble-tank 'driving feel'. Especially since a few reviewers are saying that the S60 is starting to challenge the BMW 3-series in driving qualities.

  • @CarKeysUKOfficial

  • @outrigger777
    @outrigger777 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good review. The XC70 is not ugly though. The XC60 is the ugliest vehicle in the Volvo range IMO. And the heavy driving feel is a classic Volvo driving feel. It's heavy but nimble--like a nimble tank.

    What is ugly about this car? I'd love to drive my family around in one of them. I keep on hearing the maintenance and repairs are expensive. I saw a 2011 within my price range with almost 100k miles. I'm wonder... Is it worth it?

    Better jack it up higher add a better AWD or I'll never get to drive one. We go offroad and have outback 3.6r... I heard the new outback is really quiet and that's the main reason I always wanted a Volvo so now almost no reason to buy one.

  • @jangreveehrenreichhansen1833

    If Porsche bought Volvo, and rebadged a Volvo... in the shops and the journalists would tell you its a 3 liter boxer, rear engine. They would open the trunk and say "amazing how small they can make them nowadays"... shall we go and look at the details ? (finance and your signature)
    the new T5 is thought to be a 2,5 liter inline 5 by many.. Volvo dont do 4 bangers...

  • @CarWhiz22

    Its the best looking 2.5 liter 5 cyl twin turbo 67,000 pound volvo ever made!
    Ps. With polestar tuning it becomes a 2,5 liter 5 cyl twin turbo 225 bhp moster with 480 Nm of torque to pull it up to a top speed of 225 kp/h(139 mp/h)!!!
    U should look up the facts before u do a revew...

    Try the new S60, that thing is hideous. I think the XC70 and S80 are very nice looking, as is the new V40. Unfortunately we won't see the V40 in the states, at least not for a few years. I really wanted a V40 XC to join my second gen XC70, guess I'll have to wait.
