    Love our 09 XC70 3.2. Such a practical car, can fit all the family with the dog and head off anywhere for the weekend. Great seats, strong engine- pulls a decent size trailer without a sweat.Done over 300k and the engine is still strong as an Ox

    A twentysomething twit totaled my PARKED wonderful 2002 Volvo V40 last week. I just bought a 2011 Volvo XC 70. We live about 250 miles from the dealership so that trip home was my first real experience with the car. It was GREAT! City drive to foothills to winding through the Redwoods back up to the coast and home. What a great driving car. I plugged cruise control at 65 mph and trusted the car around curves that I might have braked for, trusting the car to do its thing. It was smooth with the weight that felt wonderfully stable. Interior, just as you said, is extremely comfortable, heated seats are awesome, Great guts, too.Yeah!

    I just took my 1998 XC70 to the junk yard this Spring. I felt like crying. Engine still ran great, it just needed new wheel bearings. I couldn’t afford. BTW, fhe most comfortable seats ever!

    What do y'all think, my experience with my VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI has been spotty, should I upgrade to this Volvo?

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear you've had back luck with your Jetta. I think that's one of the nicest options out there in terms or ride, gas mileage and nice interior. The Volvo will be similar in terms of ride and a bit more luxurious, plus its got AWD, but gas mileage won't be as good as you're experiencing. As far as reliabilty I know poeple that swear by Volvo's but I've also heard they aren't the best out there. My personal opinion is that reliability wise a Volvo and VW will be comparable. Your best bet might be a Subaru Outback.

      Just curious, what makes you pick the Subaru over the Volvo?

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cgduude Subaru's cost and frequency of maintenance is usually less than Volvo. VW will be sportier than either. Good thing now is Subarus last two generations of cars have superb crashworthiness.

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think thats the answer. They are hit or miss and it primarily depends on how well they've been maintained. I know people that run their Volvo's several hundred thousand miles but I've also heard of people that have had serious issues. Make sure you get a good one if you do.

    Don't run Volvos on regular fuel. It will result in a reduced performance and worse gas mileage. Volvo is a different level of quality, refinement, premium appointments and materials from Subaru. I dig Subaru, but for different reasons than Volvo.

      In sweden the standard gas is 95 octane (euro RON) which is equal to 90,7 octane in the US. Putting higher octane in wont make it run better :) (if its stock)
