Went back and listened to Mitch Lafon’s 2020 interview with Randy. He definitely says that he would be happy for the current version of Autograph to continue once he was done.
This guy seems really cool and he knows what he wants and he's willing to continue on with Autograph even though none of the old living members want to do. I say more power to him for that.

Excellent interview! I was a huge Jailhouse fan, pre Rough Cutt members and with Rough Cutt members. I probably went to every SoCal Jailhouse show when they were a 5 piece band (I was at both nights of the Roxy tapings and the Palace show. My girlfriend and I went to Tower Records on Sunset after the Palace gig and purchased AIAMW) . I was stoked to hear Danny/Simon joined Autograph, it gave me a reason to be interested in Autograph again. LOL. It's sad that 3 original members have passed and Steve Lynch isn't involved. I understand Simon's side and situation, but for me, the Steves are what made the band (back in the day). I know Steve P's thoughts on reuniting. Seems pointless for Steve L to be fighting the band. Like Simon said, it only generates royalties for him. That's free money! He can sit at home doing nothing, and watch those pennies come in. I'm not familiar or don't know of anything else Steve's done other than Autograph. While watching this, I looked up the band and saw that Steve won the court case regarding the trademark. Ok, so Simon and the boys can alter the name and continue rocking. I'd like to see more Jailhouse reunion shows! There's a much larger catalog of songs and better tunes, IMHO. Ok now I was never the biggest fan. Loved a handful of tracks but most of the material was too synth driven for my taste. Turn up the radio is immortal! Lighting in a bottle! The new version doesn’t do much for me but I wish them the best of luck! 🤟🏻
Jailhouse was excellent. I loved the Live EP so much. It is still one of my staples. Danny/Simon is the reason I started paying attention to Autograph again.
These guys have as much in common with 80s American Autograph as they do with 80s Russian Autograph. Autograph was always a faceless/nameless band (maybe some people knew who Steve Lynch was). Few music fans coming to these oldies cruise ship or festival shows really know who is/was in the band. For the most part, the band fell into the “who gives a shit” category. I saw them open for VH in 1984 and I have the first two records. I like those records but have no desire to see any version of Autograph at any point - whether there is some hired gun in the band or the original bass player who know one could name if their life depended on it. I get it, though. These Autograph players would rather pass themselves off as a classic rock one-hit wonder than work at some machine shop in El Segundo.
Get bitter much matey? Anyone who played in a band knew who Lynch was. The band still gives great live shows. And the new music is great. But to each there own.

Randy chose Simon to be the front man for Autograph in 2013 and supported Simon to carry the torch to keep Autograph alive, in the case that Randy decided to leave the band on his own accord or in the sad occasion of his death. Steve Plunkett & Steve Lynch are AUTOGRAPH. The "current" band didn't write and performed on the 3 albums from MCA. Change the name of the group. Call it the "Legacy of Autograph".
No matter how someone spins it, justifies it, has the right to use the name, who is blessing who, etc. When a band has no original members, it's not the band. They shouldn't be using the band's name.

Simon had many chances to " make it " and it never happened. He got his foot in the door of a name band and crazy glued his foot there for fear of losing his golden ring he finally obtained. .....the two original guys can get good money offers for package tours if the get back together. Randy Rand's estate can make a buck also if they cut in the Widow Rand. .....this is where I see things.

The attempt of Simoni's solo project is a failure and Jimmy Bell singing duets with "Tiffany from the Red Roof Inn" is a career crash and burn moment that will impact his professional reputation when this gets played out. The outcome is that these replacement guys will either need to change the name OR they have to PAY a LICENSE fee to use the name (I imagine their attorney is begging for the latter). Either way, it's a win-win for the Founders as they are the original Artists who created the brand, Trademarks and Logo but it also a WIN for all future musicians that create and stand to have their work infringed upon. Whether arrogance, greed or terrible legal advice, they should never have sued Steve Lynch and Randy Rand's Widow. My advice would be to license the name to a better group of musicians and human beings.

Didn't know he wasn't American born. I met him when Jailhouse was making their play for the big time. I wish that band had been given more of a chance. He doesn't talk about Hollywood Records. @Dean Kinney, it's funny that you were messaging Simon for years showing him much support up until most recently when he called you out on being two faced, telling him one thing, support n friendship while talking crap to the others about him this way SL thought you were on his side. Lmfao.
It is my opinion that Danny and Weiland are desperate to retain some identity to this band because they are unsuccessful in all their other musical endeavors. The attempt of Simoni's solo project is a failure and Jimmy Bell singing duets with "Tiffany from the Red Roof Inn" is a career crash and burn moment which will have negative impacts to his "professional" reputation when this gets played out. The outcome will be that these replacement guys will either need to change the name OR have to PAY a LICENSE fee to use the name, (I imagine their attorney is begging for the latter). Steve Lynch will decide. The more they play (and infringe), the more they will pay in damages (and legal fees!!!). Either way, it's a win-win for the founders, as they are the original Artists who created the Brand, Trademarks and Logo, but it is also a WIN for all future musicians so that they won't have their work infringed upon. Whether arrogance, greed, or terrible legal advice, (or all the above), they should have NEVER SUED Steve Lynch and Randy Rand's Widow for anything. It was a LOW and calculated act that backfired and will forever haunt their own legacies--the (Auto)scam that fans and the industry refer to them as now. My advice would be to license the name to a better group of musicians and human beings. Check out TH-cam and Tik Tok for the next generation of musical talent covering the iconic anthem created by Lynch, Rand, Plunkett, Isham and Richards TURN UP THE RADIO--it says it all.

The agreement was when Steve up n quit was he was to be known as "former member". He quit and gave up all rights, he was removed as partner by Randy because he didn't trust him. (This proof is in writing by Randy). Again, feel free to watch Randy's interview.
