Same bro!! I am always overjoyed that this music is reaching a younger generation! Too bad they were born in the wrong era!! Today’s music is criminally bad! Especially country; which, I thought was bad in the 1980’s. However; I was wrong. Today’s Hick-Hop country music is way worse!! I was literally at the hospital today for my mom; and every time I heard the sick lady vomit and spit it up in a bag; she must have been listening to some hick-hop country music😂😂😂😂
The guitarist is using a technique sometimes called finger-tapping or just tapping, and at times it was called a hammer-on, tap-hit, etc.; it just depended on who you ran with. Eddie Van Halen was probably the guitarist who made the technique most widely known (his solo "Eruption" is iconic), although other guitarists before him used it also (Steve Hackett from Genesis is a notable example). By the 80s, many guitarists were using the technique and it was pretty common to see it featured in a lot of rock videos from the era.

When the guitarist was playing, that is called TAPPING. Eddie Van Halen was the king of tapping. You saw him tapping with both hands in the Eruption video.
While they were opening for Van Halen on the 1984 Tour, VH's management actually told Autograph's guitar player not to do any tapping, because "that's Eddie's thing." Funny thing was, on the underground L.A. circuit, Steve Lynch was already a tapping legend who was mastering an 8-finger tapping technique well before VH ever hit it big. Well, unfortunately, this was the best song they ever did and they never did have another great one. I used to think their cover of Grand Funk Railroad's "We're An American Band" was great until I listened to it recently and it's not even close to the original. It's way too glossy and glammed-up. I wish rock would go back and really play from passion and heart like this, I can't relate any other band or song that can be so uplifting and inspiring. Definitely my #1song in my playlists.
I loved how much Amber got into this song! You could tell she was feeling it! I was a senior in high school when this dropped! It still holds up like it was released yesterday! Love you guys!
There were thousands of bands from this era and style that just never made it big but were as good as a lot of the stuff around at the time. I highly recommend you check out a band called Danger Danger, try the song 'Bang Bang' as it has a video with it. Another really fun band. The whole album is superb - as is their CD catalogue but never really made it big. There is a new band just started up in the past 6 years called The Defiants and are made up of most of the Danger Danger band (check out the song 'U X'd My Heart' as it has a video with it or 'Waiting on a Heartbreak'. Unfortunately that is only audio.) - and still play good old 80's style party rock. I love them to death!
I literally almost burned in a house fire while practicing this song on my guitar in 1985. I was in a back room with the amp cranked and I just kept playing the guitar parts over and over again. There was a plumber there doing some work on the house and he caught the place on fire soldering some copper pipe. He was beating on my door he said for a good 5 minutes before I finally heard him house just blazing away lol.
One of my fave bands, love this one too, knew you'd love this glad you do. Other great songs of theirs are Send Her To Me All I'm Gonna Take Take No Prisoners She Never Looked That Good For Me.👌 Another great band I think you'll like is Fastway with Trick Or Treat, awesome. 🎸👌😎
This came out my freshman year in college. I was getting into more alternative music and I was so tried of the 80’s hair bands but this was the one exception. Great song
I just have to say when Amber said, "You have to turn up your radio." Made me think back to when I was a pre-teen and young teen. I was finally old enough for my parents to leave me at home by myself. As soon as they were gone I would wheel my dad's PA system into my bedroom and hook my stereo up to it. It was so loud I thought I would rock the house off of its foundation lol 😂😂😂😂
I remember buying this album when it came out. They sounded a lot like Def Lepperd. MTV provided an easy access to seeing bands and the competition was fierce.
An all 80s kind of night!! Great decade for music. How about Zebra, Tell Me What You Want. Would also love a reaction to April Wine, Sign of the Gypsy Queen. Both are rock bands, the latter Canadian and the former American. Thanks for your great reactions and giving your viewers what they want.
Another great song that always reminded of this great was Up All Night(Sleep All Day)-Slaughter..I loved my 80s rock since these were my teen years Keep On Rockin'
They were on tour for this album. And when they came to Houston, Tx. The group went to one of the rock radio stations, called 97 Rock. And they added the part 97 Rock! So when ever we heard the song we had the pleasure of hearing......'Turn up the radio...97 ROCK!' It was so cool!! Fun Fact - If you remember the show '7th Heaven', the lead singer wrote and sung the theme song for the show!!
Been awhile since I heard this song, excellent choice. For more great rock from that era try Attack of the Mad Axe Man by MSG, Michael Schenker is a beast on lead guitar. Enjoy! 🎸
A lot of these bands were never on the radio in certaim areas. I never heard of them either and yet they are great. I grew up in the 70s and 80s. There are a lot of bands in that era.
That song brings back memories, it played at a club I’ve bartended at in Houston.. The reason a lot of people haven’t heard of them is because they were sort of a one hit wonder. There are some other good songs they put out but they never really took off. There’s a similar band I would love for you guys to review named Kings X, they are a three piece out of the Houston area and think you guys would really enjoy them. Could start with the song King or Summerland or dog man… Can’t go wrong
King's X really needs more attention paid to them. They're just one of those bands that are beloved by musicians but have been denied more commercial success.
@@Paulzuzu You’re absolutely right and lots of people have said that over the years. Wasn’t meaning to compare them to autograph, just that they were another band out of that time that put out great music that stands the test of time.
@shirley buffington I saw Blackfoot back in the late 70's. Def Leppard opened for them. They had only released 1 album...On Through The Night and Rick Allen had both arms
This is me and my best friends cruising song! When we were a LOT younger we use to go mudding on the backroads with many trucks involved and this was the anthem of those nights! Now when either of us get a new to us ride we have to fill the tank and cruise the backroads listening to Autograph.
This was a genius song for its time because the theme of the song made every rock station want to play it and use it in its bumpers. Kind of how like you only know The Buggles because they made a song called "Video Killed the Radio Star" at the time MTV launched.
Oh my gosh guys! Finally, you have done this LONG request of mine. Holy Cow! Thank you! This song is a ball of FIRE! Request: Winger--Headin' For A Heartbreak. Movie Request: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990). Btw, I use the Papermate Sharpwriter pencil that's featured in this video lol.
I know the band. The lead guitar is Steve Lynch. He taps with eight fingers. He put a book out in 1978 about tapping. He also has other videos of playing this way.
Another great one hit wonder from around this time was "Sausalito Summer Night" by Diesel. If you want to hear an absolute BANGER try Tora Tora's song "Amnesia"
I was Stevs Isham's mom and dad's paperboy on Pocatello Idaho in the mid 80s. My dad was his Sunday school teacher in the 70s. He was an incredible keyboardist and an amazing producer. We lost a great gift to music when Stece passed.
You _need_ to get to "The Lumberjack" by *Jackyl* at some point guys... I swear, that one is going to BLOW you guys right off your seats (of course, I won't say why)! 🤘😝
I remember when this came out and listening to it on the radio. It is the classic summertime song to drive with the top down and radio cranked all the way up. Sadly, bassist Randy Rand passed away about two months ago. RIP. He was the last remaining original member to still play in the band today. I have not heard who will be replacing him but they still tour.
Please, please, react to "Helloween: I want Out." They are a European band that was taught to sing English phonetically. And the band (and this song in particular) is just fun to watch. P.S., I just discovered you tonight, from watching various people react to Pink Floyd songs.
just saw this today, and had to say to Miss Amber, as a performing bassist, I hated using a regular cable for my bass. When I finally got a wireless unit for my guitar, I felt I could finally bring the groove to the people, where it really belongs. I love playing this song, and like I saw yesterday with another old video with Mr Rob, the AcDc riff, their old stuff had more of a groove to it. Anyway, just an old bassist, checkin in, Im out
Hey there Jay and Amber! 👋🏾 I love your channel! ❤️ I wish you would react to "Brother To Brother" by Canadian singer/musician Gino Vannelli. The album version of the same title. His voice and musical arrangements are phenomenal! You don't know what you're missing! 😲 I promise you won't be disappointed! 👍🏾
It was Paul McCartney’s 80th birthday today. Y’all should have had the entire day devoted to him tbh. (Beatles, Wings, solo work) There is no more influential artist of our time. I met these guys when they were called Wolf Gang. They were in the process of recording their first album, which featured. Turn up the radio. They were touring with another band doing a battle of the bands type show. Got to meet them, hang out with them, party with them.fed them Menudo after the show(taken from a friends kitchen mom made for dinner). It was a pretty good time. They came back and played the following 2 years for the 4th of July. In my hometow, little tiny place. Nobody knew who he were or where we were, but they somehow found us.
It's a great song. It's so much fun. I can't believe this song literally turns 40 years old later this year. I'm 56 1/2 and remember when this song came-out when I was 17. It's crazy, but thank you both for keeping great music like this alive!! ❤️
I'm sure somewhere in the comments it has been mentioned but in case it hasn't....you've probably heard Plunk's voice before and didnt realize it. He sang the theme song for the T.V. show 7th Heaven. I saw these guys numerous times in the 80s and they never disappointed!! Great (yet underrated) band that just threw it in your face and rocked!! 😎🤘
Fun fact, this being the band's first album (and music video) they didn't have a lot of money. So their manager came up with this brilliant idea of making a sponsorship deal for the video. The sponsor ended up being... you guessed it, Papermate! It might sound strange first but those pencils were hot in the 80's and it also went kinda well with their album's name "Sign In Please". Sponsors in music videos were pretty unheard of at that time. Also, the lead guitarist Steve Lynch won the "guitar solo of the year" award from Guitar Player magazine. I love this song and there's only one way to play it: LOUD.
On the guitar it's called Hammer On, and Pull Offs. The first one you hit the string straight and hard with fret hand, and then the pull off, you start on a note already played and pull finger off on the string plucking it.
In 1985, Guitar Player magazine awarded Steve Lynch "Guitar Solo of the Year" for his work on "Turn Up the Radio."

Eddie VH did a lot of that - it's 'hammer' technique. The fingers hit the strings instead of strumming side-side (with or w/o picks)
I've heard it called tapping too😎
Basically you're tapping by combining hammer-ons and pull-offs.
I wish rock would go back and really play from passion and heart like this, I can't relate any other band or song that can be so uplifting and inspiring. Definitely my #1song in my playlists.
I was 15 and cranked this song repeatedly, lol. It's featured in the movie "Hot Tub Time Machine".
I loved how much Amber got into this song! You could tell she was feeling it! I was a senior in high school when this dropped! It still holds up like it was released yesterday! Love you guys!
Aww, look at us 80’s kids. 😍 I miss the 80’s so much.
Thanks for the heads up, checking out The Defiants album now on YT.
@@NaturalMystic69 They have 2 albums out with a third due late this year or early next year. They are brilliant!
I think they would enjoy “Naughty Naughty” more.
Always fun! 80s ruled.
The summer that I turned 19 this song was all over the radio, it was inescapable.
One of my fave bands, love this one too, knew you'd love this glad you do. Other great songs of theirs are
Send Her To Me
All I'm Gonna Take
Take No Prisoners
She Never Looked That Good For Me.👌
Another great band I think you'll like is Fastway with Trick Or Treat, awesome. 🎸👌😎
I love that song. They could also do a reaction to the movie.
@@jamescarswell3470 Exactly, both awesome.😎👌
@@emmahowells8334 yes they are. You can't beat those cheesy B grade 80's horror movies. They are so good.
Fastway is another great band that never got the attention they deserved. I absolutely loved the Trick or Treat movie and soundtrack.
@@jamescarswell3470 Absolutely, you can't beat them. 👌
Always liked the line “Things go better with rock “
This Absolute Classic HITS LIKE A BRICK!!,,
The Ides Of March "Vehicle"
Yes Yes Yes. Fantastic flash back. 👍✌️🇨🇦
@@marybaillie8907 Thanks..My Next Suggestion Will Be An Often Forgotten Classic,, Stealers Wheel "Star"
Had to look "Star" up. Great tune. Of course everyone knows "Stuck in the Middle with You"
The Ides of March remind me of Blood Sweat and Tears. So hornsy.
@@marybaillie8907 True Dat.
I was 17yo when this song came out, it brings me back to a great time for hair bands!!
This came out my freshman year in college. I was getting into more alternative music and I was so tried of the 80’s hair bands but this was the one exception. Great song
They tell us to "Turn it up" at the beginning. We were just obeying. 😄🤘
Nice banger!! Try George Thorogood and the Destroyer’s “Move it on Over”!!🤘🔥
I just have to say when Amber said, "You have to turn up your radio." Made me think back to when I was a pre-teen and young teen.
Got this song confused for the longest time thinking it was by Def Lep:)
This was and is a killer tune.😆😁😁 It got slot of airplay. Dang good choice!! 👍👍
80’s energy!! Miss those days
Since your in the 80s, YOU MUST! check out Level 42. Something about you!! Mark King lead singer, and one of the best bass player out there.
......since YOU'RE in the 80's......illiterate idiot......
Another great song that always reminded of this great was Up All Night(Sleep All Day)-Slaughter..I loved my 80s rock since these were my teen years Keep On Rockin'
Love your reactions to 80’s bands. Try out Asia: Only Time Will Tell & Heat of the Moment!
Lead singer done 7th heaven song too 🎉,one hell of a blue collar song 🎵 ❤ also there's more where this came from kiddos
"Oh my goodness!" If you liked that solo, check out Eric Johnson, "Cliffs of Dover," live. I'm betting he makes your favorite guitarist list.
King's X is great!
Glad someone suggested this song.. had totally forgotten about it.. so thanks for reminding me of another great song.
Still would love too see you react to the studio version of Blackfoot’s Train, Train I know Jay and Amber you will love it and can’t wait to see it.
Hint...Harmonica..
YES!! 👍😃❣️
@shirley buffington I saw Blackfoot back in the late 70's. Def Leppard opened for them. They had only released 1 album...On Through The Night and Rick Allen had both arms
@@MaRoach7 wow I bet you loved that I know I would have loved to have seen it
I loved their Loud and Clear album. I wore out that cassette tape in high school.
This is one of my favorite songs. Don't know why Autograph didn't have more hits, this whole album was great.
All their albums were great
This is me and my best friends cruising song! When we were a LOT younger we use to go mudding on the backroads with many trucks involved and this was the anthem of those nights! Now when either of us get a new to us ride we have to fill the tank and cruise the backroads listening to Autograph.
This was such a great song. Another I loved was “get it on” by kingdom come. If you haven’t already, check it out…
One of the best debut albums of all time.
Brothers Johnson…..Strawberry Letter #23 & I’ll be Good To You
Don't forget Stomp..
This is a perfect summer cruising song windows down and volume all the way up and no Fs given !!!
Another great one hit wonder from around this time was "Sausalito Summer Night" by Diesel. If you want to hear an absolute BANGER try Tora Tora's song "Amnesia"
They’d dig some Tora Tora
@@jimmymac4559 For sure! The whole "Wild America" album is great.
This is a GREAT ROAD trip song...
Great react
Please react to Rush "Roll the Bones"
The amazing lyrics by Neil Peart (rip) and the rap section in the middle
Anyway, just an old bassist, checkin in, Im out
Blew out so many speakers cranking this up...never get loud enough
you've never heard of them because they're a one hit wonder. that said, their one hit is a good one
You two are ROCK N ROLL too dose my old heart good watching this younger generation jamming out to music I listened to in high school lol
The Rockets "Oh Well"....Classic 70's
It was Paul McCartney’s 80th birthday today.
Y’all should have had the entire day devoted to him tbh. (Beatles, Wings, solo work) There is no more influential artist of our time. He will go down in history with the likes of Beethoven, Bach, Motzart…etc

You both described this perfectly. Well done!
Yessssssss! That song was huge in the 80's! One of the best hard rock guitar solos I've ever heard.
loved this song from way back....just rockin. Im 55. came out when i was a young man
One of my all time favorites
On the guitar it's called Hammer On, and Pull Offs. The first one you hit the string straight and hard with fret hand, and then the pull off, you start on a note already played and pull finger off on the string plucking it.
