On average, a person can see about 4 square miles at one time because the distance to the horizon is like 3 miles and people have a narrow field of view.
Another Awesome video. But our bumpiest place is neither the Marianas trench nor Everest. It’s Mauna Kea Volcano rising 13,796 feet (4,205 meters) above sea level while extending about 19,700 feet (6,000 meters) below sea level in Hawaii to meet the deep ocean floor. So equal to but not flatter than a pancake.
23:04 “The most of a sphere you can see at once with your own eyes is just… half!” At long distances, yes I agree, but what if I’m looking at a pea-sized object from six inches away? Because I have two eyes separated by 2.5 inches, it seems I’d be able to see more than 50% of its surface since I’m effectively looking at it from two different places, no?
@@marks6663 Each eye can see just under half, but a different half. How different depend on how far apart your eyes are and how far away they are from the object.
I got engaged and married, moved to Canada, found a job in the communication bussiness and lost my dog to intestine sickness since Michael last uploaded on this channel 5 months ago 😃
He probably writes his scripts like a murder mystery. Start at the end, then work backwards so that at the beginning everything seems unrelated. At least I hope that's what's going on.
How was it even possible to make this entire video without the "Father Ted" reference -- "These are small, those out there are far away..."? The self-restraint shown there is nothing short of magnificent.
Only one hole is more significant than the rest, no its not the asshole, the hole where a lot of men eat n then throw up in, still don't understand? Man I'm convinced you are amongst them who think the earth is round
Oh, why the sudden change to flat earth conspiracy? We were talking about how confusing it is to listen to him. Seems like you're just trying to get our attention. Well, let me kill some time: First things first, here's something you can do yourself. Go to a beach at a sunset. Crouch and watch the sun go down the horizon. When the sun is completely hidden, no part of the circle visible, jump up. Tell me how the sun pops back up? According to your idea that Earth is a flat circle, this doesn't make sense. How can moving up show the sun again after it disappears? You can't chalk it up to image manipulation, this can be done with your own eyes. You base your evidence on anecdotal evidence, so this should be acceptable evidence. That leads me to the sun setting. How can the sunset? It can't set in the South because that would mean the entire earth would be in darkness after the sunset. The proposed theory is that the earth is a ball above the earth orbiting. Here's another experiment you can do. A light should be above your head. Imagine if it's the sun. Better yet, use a streetlight. Now go as far as possible from it until it goes near the ground. You can't. How would the sun appear to move down if it's always above you? That also leads to day and night. The sun is a ball of gas. That'll mean all areas of the Earth would get light. We are able to see stars, even though they are billions of lightyears away. Yet they shine just as bright. The light that travels in a vacuum doesn't get dimmer, that only happens in an atmosphere. They can go on forever. Also, where's YOUR proof? I haven't seen a single image of Antarctica where there's a fall off point. You want me to believe that in all of human history, there isn't one single picture of the edge? 29 July 1958 was NASA's creation date and 24 October 1945 was United Nation's. "The first landing on the Antarctic mainland was according to the American Captain John Davis, a sealer, who claimed to have set foot there on 7 February 1821," to quote Wikipedia. It was more than a hundred years before the big companies wanted to "hide" it. The first camera was in 1888! Image manipulation didn't exist when it came along that year and a few more years! China had begun to fly tourist to Antarctica so I would like to see a Flat Earther travel to it. There's no excuse! Even if they were chosen specifically because they were sheeple, they would still see it! www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-42388788 Go fly there yourself and prove to your comrades that it is flat. You are really desperate for it to be true, why not just go to the edge? Oo, it's 11:43 PM. I have one last point. You said research yourself that the Earth is stationary and flat. I'm focusing on stationary. If so, explain the Coriolis force. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriolis_force#Coriolis_effects_in_other_areas Here are examples of it happening. And on Earth, that is the cause of many things. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriolis_force#Meteorology If you have an explanation to why water spin Clockwise in the North and Anti- in the South, tell me. The Coriolis force explains it perfectly. Try to explain it yourself, with your own math. I assume you, at the minimum, reached high school so you can probably do your own math. I like to see you debunk the four points I brought up.

@@troublewithweebles Is that how it's done on mobile devices? I'm almost always watching on a real computer... my eyes can't handle video on phones, since I'm an old fart! 🤣
If you look at a black hole you're seeing its entire event horizon, as well as multiple rings of the accretion disk around it as the light orbits multiple times. I've seen a shader in VR that replicates this effect. It is bizarre, but very cool to see.
In general … 🤓 Fraction of surface area seen from height _h_ h / (2 * (r + h)) Angular size of visible area from height _h_ 2 * arcsin(r / (r + h)) Use r = 6371km or r = 3959mi depending on preferred unit, and you may need to convert the result of the "asin" function on a computer from radians to degrees by multiplying it with 180 / π.
I’ve done a lot of travelling in my life. You’re not living on a ball. Wether you like it or not, you’re just not. 70% of earths surface is covered in level/flat water. It’s the natural physics of water that it seeks level, takes the shape of its container. If water looks like it’s bending then go learn what perspective is, you aren’t living on a magical space ship flying through infinite space. Go outside and see for yourself. You’re being lied to, it’s as simple as that. You’re not just being lied to you’re being laughed at... A magical spinning ball covered in water flying through infinite space space hahahahahahahaha fuck me no wonder they have to tell you that lie when you are at an age you can’t even ask a question. At such a gullible age you believe in Santa Claus ETC Hahaha bloody spinning flying space ship 😂😂 ignorant idiots won’t go out and see for them selfs. Question everything. This world isn’t what you think it is.
@@DecodingWithJordan Now what exactly do you define as level? Gravity acts uniformly towards the center of the earth, thus water on the surface of the earth remains "level" despite being curved (water doesn't magically know what level is, level is just perpendicular to the earths surface). Also the "8 inches per mile" in your name tells me you're piss poor at circle geometry. 8 inches per mile ONLY applies if your viewpoint is at 0 meters high, perfectly tangential to the earths surface. Assuming you are roughly 6 feet tall, you would observe virtually no curvature until an object was roughly 5km away (because you know, that's how fucking tangents work). Now that I've disproved the two pieces of "evidence" you have, how do you explain the Coriolis effect on a flat earth model? how about modern navigation including the latitude and longitude system? what about star systems? what about the parallel shadows caused by our sun (not possible with a smaller localized light source)? What about the gradient of air pressure as you increase altitude (not even remotely possible without gravity, or with the "firmament" many flerfers claim exists)? How about the fact that EVERY OTHER OBSERVABLE CELESTIAL BODY is round and demonstrates effects of gravity and an orbit? It's not really a good idea trying to claim the earth is flat on a science channel, try sticking to facebook.
Michael is so serious about his scientific endeavours that he digs up the details of any subject to its core and explains it so precisely. And that's what i like about him. Thanks to him for his efforts to make such knowledgeable and worthy videos. Sincerely A Vsauce Follower! Aditya Sharma

At long distances, yes I agree, but what if I’m looking at a pea-sized object from six inches away? Because I have two eyes separated by 2.5 inches, it seems I’d be able to see more than 50% of its surface since I’m effectively looking at it from two different places, no?

Except it's actually interesting!
Oh, why the sudden change to flat earth conspiracy? We were talking about how confusing it is to listen to him. Seems like you're just trying to get our attention.
Well, let me kill some time:
First things first, here's something you can do yourself.

You can see more than 50% of the surface of a neutron star. Gravity bends light enough to let you see both poles at the same time.
If you look at a black hole you're seeing its entire event horizon, as well as multiple rings of the accretion disk around it as the light orbits multiple times. I've seen a shader in VR that replicates this effect. It is bizarre, but very cool to see.
Assuming there’s no light bending how much would you be able to see??

LOL I DIDENT CATCH THAT
I’ve done a lot of travelling in my life.
@@DecodingWithJordan im guessing you dont believe gravity exists either?...
