I’m actually impressed by the extent to which the KO company went to reproduce the original packaging! I’ve never (knowingly) purchased a KO Transformer before…
Great video. I noticed 2 things that you didn’t mention: 1. Look at the front of the boxes, on the OFFICIAL, you will see a glowing horizon line between and behind Wheeljack’s legs. The KO box doesn’t have it. 2. On the figures, look at the Autobot symbols on Wheeljack’s chest. On the KO, the small white triangle on the Autobot symbol’s “forehead” is missing.
I just made a purchase for a Transformers Grimlock MP-08 30th anniversary edition, the seller sold it for less than $200 because of box damage, is that really a smokescreen to say he screwed me with a KO? It was the first of the month bills made me broke and bought the MP I could afford, but how can I tell if the Mp-08 Grimlock is a KO when it arrives?
@2:31 you can also see there's a serial number of some type embossed into the carboard, not printed so you might barely notice it in a picture but see it in real life easier, left of the bar code (above it in the orientation of the boxes at this time stamp). The fake box doesn't appear to have those. I've noticed real ones have them but I don't know if any fakes bother to copy it. I think it's meant to be a sort of copy protection from lifting the serial from photos.
The easiest thing to spot is soft tires on KO Wheeljack and Tracks, which on the original the rim and the tire are 1 hollow hard plastic piece... I consider that a plus. Certainly, it has became so difficult to tell apart.
To stand on the shelf, this guy will do for the amount I paid for it. The other KOs I have are all excellent in their own ways, but the best one in the Bayverse Barricade. It is phenomenal. I have questioned so many times if it actually was a KO! Same with the Sunstreaker. The others I have all have their slight issues here and there, but overall, I can't grumble.
I had seen elsewhere the shoulder rocket launcher on the KO was missing a pin so it flopped around rather than pose-able (understand fixe-able with a bamboo skewer)
congratulations russ thats very great amazing awesome knock off masterpiece comparison figurine wheeljack autobots transformers g1. thank you toys are russ have a great week god bless 🤘🎸
Easiest way is to look at the box itself as the official has the corrugated lines going vertically while the KOs had them going horizontally. At least that's what I've been told and your two boxes look like this as well.
URGENTLY HELP!! Does all original MP box have that glowing license sticker on the bottom of the box?? I’m on my way to buy full collection of Beast Wars MP
I'm sorry, but I can't criticize this too much. For the price? You're getting a tremendous deal. Chances are they're made from the same factory as said in the video, and let's just be honest, these are the prices they should be. I'm fine with $40-50.00 per car rather than $90-130.00 per. I know the original MP prices weren't so terrible, but when a KO can sometimes be better than the original *and* cost less, it's a no-brainer. I left MPs a while ago, because the quality wasn't there but the price was. Now, the price and the quality line up and it doesn't break the bank. I'm perfectly fine with KO MPs at this point. I'm tired of paying the official pricing for subpar quality. I get that they have employees to pay (great!), I get that they have to pay license fees (understandable!) but charging what they do for current figures with none of that bull to blame (BWMP, for example) is just a no-go for me.
I agree that mp prices went crazy and that’s why I stoped. It was just before ironhide and when I saw the price of hound. I have seen some good ko in the past but this one isn’t really that great. The joints were really loose in hand and it was already a dirty shade of white and now is even more yellow.
@@ToysareRuss, oof. That's pretty bad. I mean, it can be Retrobrighted, but that's a *lot* of work. I'm wondering if it's due to the age of your specimen, as a lot of the KOs now aren't Takasa Tony, anymore. Still, I'd rather go for the KO than the official at this point just on price alone because my gosh, they've gotten stupid with the price tags.
@@ToysareRussNo, you said the legs and arms and chest are all much more loose than the original, so I am curious if the lesser one can pose in the same ways without falling over.
@@kevinoconnell5170 very true, the joints are looser but they are still the same mould. Unfortunately I can’t actually put him in an action pose for you as I sold it straight on.

As you said bud, for the price it’ll do it’s job.

I didn’t know about that. Thanks for letting me know
Thanks for the video. I had to dig up my box and check the details. Yes I have an official, not KO..thanks again!

Great vid! I used to have the KO. The wheeljack ko is pretty good
It’s good for a gap filler or if you’re collecting on a budget
thanks Russ. The only ko i have is the ITO1 MEgattron which is great. Can't say muvch for the rest since i heard a lot of bad things abt them.
No problem. I’ll do more ko comparisons in the future

On my ko the head flap is really big and doesn’t have the clearance to go straight. Is there a way to fix this?
No idea sorry. I only borrowed this from someone for a video.
More bots in the comments than in Transformers ROTB 😂.
Thanks for the tips, Russ. A good KO can help fill a hole in a collection.
Glad to help

their same auth but different prodution... the one box without sticker is a warehouse sale that not proceed to QA
I don’t really understand what you’re saying. One is a ko and one is an original. From totally different companies
Would be nice to see if the POSING is as good as well. I like to stand them in motion and it'd be good to see.

most of the time the KO's have better joints
Better than the original? Or just better than this example?
Thanks for the info man!
Any time!
Also the KO had an incorrect Autobot insignia… a real Autobot insignia has a hole inth’ mid of the helmet part
Thanks for the extra information. I can update the video accordingly
I don't understand much, but someone will explain who the KOs are? Are these guys fake Takara figurines?
Yes they’re fake takara figures of an inferior quality. As you can see in this video.
