My weekend has pretty much been taken up by fixing KOs. But 8 years down the line and your video is still doing it's thing , the shoulder fix is so simple yet so very effective . It was really doing my head in when they kept coming out on mine . Now it's excellent I struggle to see how the real one could be better
Looks like the KO version fixed most of these issues as I didn't have any problems except for the chest piece not locking in place, which was weird as it locked in place the first time I transformed him. After watching your video, I figured out why. Shoulder cannon is completely fixed. Only problem I had with mine was the legs were really loose, which I fixed with some Kiki loose joint liquid. I had to glue the mirrors in too as they kept falling off.
I gotta say, thanks for the video. there were a few issues I had figured out already (the flap going in through the head hole so the shoulders can lock in) but the pin in the shoulder cannon was totally necessary and I didn't even realize that was the problem. i ended up using a nail though that just happened to be the perfect diameter for the job
I've got authentic Masterpiece MP-04 Optimus, MP-05 Megatron, MP-03 Starscream and MP-06 Skywarp. Just picked up this MP knockoff today to try them out, it doesn't look to be too bad all things considered. It's to put in the Optimus MP-04 trailer as that looks pretty spiffing! Thanks for this how-to video, will certainly make the KO a lot better.
just bought mine from amazon i;ll keep this fix video in mind i have an exacto knife and something close to a toothpick i got a nail in case mine comes
Used this to sort the shoulders in robot mode as I got the KO today. The launcher seems fine, though I did get mine 2nd hand, so maybe the guy who had it did the launcher fix already. Gun fits in the hand after a little work, but I'm not bothered about it being the exhaust, so not cutting anything. Very useful video.
Sean Loke I dont think they cast off original but they do reverse engineer or have access to original CAD files but lose precision due to rushed/less expensive tooling? who knows. There are very slight differences and these are sometimes enough to cause looseness and/or tightness in some parts. Thanks for watching!
Yea just figured out the shoulders the day after I posted to ur site and I will definitely try the toothpick fix. But as for cutting Jackie I won't be cutting wheeljack he just too dam awesome!! Great video!
Excellent video! My Wheeljack looks great now. The arms are perfect now. On my KO Lambor, I had to shave/increase the size of the slot on the front under hood where the chest locks into the torso. Did you have to make a similar mod to your KO?
Thanks I just got this figure and the shoulders were annoying I have never had the original so thought that I just got a bad one ,nice fix. When I looked in the instructions it doesn't say the gun plugs into the bottom to act as the exhaust.
It's the doors I have problems with. Unless I have the instructions in front of me, I just can't seem to figure out how to get them pegged in properly. Going to have to practice that. Also the rubber wheels get in the way when transforming the chest and shoulders. I thought I was bending it wrong for a few seconds until I figured that out.
well this is my opinion about this figure (i got mine an hour ago) .. mines comes perfect, cannon is tight and no problems with the shoulders, but i got a bad thing.. one piece was lost, one of the little panels of the legs (those white), no big problem i mean yeah is a piece, but no so important, i will replace that... over all, great figure i pay just 25 for him
A easier way to do the mod to mount the gun in alt mode is to just drill through it a few times with a pin vice and then simply sand it to shape with fine files.
I bought my copy of amazon and it's supposed to be the official one and it has this same exact floppy cannon, don't know if that means it's a ko but I checked the box and everything else and it seems to be official, don't know about that.
thanks....but why a "green" toothpick? lol, just kidding. The shoulder thing would bother me so glad to see that part mostly. Oh, and you would probably just drill for the gun/tailpipe issue, not a big deal
to me this isn`t a knock off I think of it this way when you buy the takara it`s awesome then you buy the Hasbro it might look the same but it`s not the same. the knock off`s are like the Hasbro versions with some different things changed like different paint scheme.or like for instance the sound waves the takara has the one has red eyes and the Hasbro has yellow. the same goes with every thing. like the joints one could be tight one on a takara and then the same character that Hasbro done has loose joints I read about it all them time. every figure always has qc issue`s no matter nothing is perfect. I know I have been collecting sideshow 1/6 star wars figures for almost 10 years and there is always issues when it come to that as well.
generalgrevious2005 I would actually prefer the KO to be much different as far as paint apps, not completely changing the character. Sort of like what they did with MP-10 KO. They added paint apps to make it look better. Making a full blown copy is meh. And yes even legit toys have issues, even very expensive ones!

Your engineering ON the ENGINEER!!

The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer Nail is better of course!

Thanks for teaching me how to secure the shoulders properly. You rock!
I don't have the KO of this guy (I have the MP release), but this is a great video! Very nice tips and good explanation. Well done!
ahchiu9 Thanks, even if you do buy KO, always a great idea to also buy the originals.
perfect fix for the shoulders swinging out. I just got mine today. mine has rubber tires too! love it.

thanks a lot, i used i 1/16 drill bit to deepen the slot for fitting the gun in the slot in car mode. I really liked the gun as exhaust feature.
Thanks so much! I was pretty bummed out when the cannon wouldn't stay up, but now I know :D And knowing is half th, um, I mean sweet!
G.I. JOEEEEEEE
wow u r the jedi man. good guide for ko. typically the tolerance do run off due to recast i guess.

Wow ur the one...great stuff

joe farrell yeah not worth cutting it but if you wanna pose the cannon, toothpick mod or similar mod might be worth it

I had to do the same thing.
Thanks for the tips, I had the same issues in my review. Not gonna carve the plastic but the toothpick fix is genius!
Yeah the original shoot was just applying nail polish to it but when i saw there was room for a pin, a light bulb appeared over my head lol!
Thanks I just got this figure and the shoulders were annoying I have never had the original so thought that I just got a bad one ,nice fix. When I looked in the instructions it doesn't say the gun plugs into the bottom to act as the exhaust.
you are a credit to humanity
hey thanks for the tips man I already order it so if I get those issues with mine i know how to fix them
thanks again
Glad I could help, thanks for watching!
got my copy yesterday. i can't get the missile into the turret. but i'll try unscrew it like you did and get something done for the holder as well.

Dang that shoulders drove me crazy for a while lol. Thanks for the quick fix bro.
+Ron King Glad I could help!
Does every ko have this issue?
What part actually tabs the back in cause it's like 3 spots I see and nothing holds
A+ on the fixes.
I got the real one and thankfully do not have to worry about any of this as I supported Takara Tomy.
very well, i found the vidoe while scrolling down, my wheeljack on the way, that will help me if i found the same issue.
Thank you
jason77584 Hope these fixes worked for you, thanks
Awesome!
Pure GENIUS!!!!!
thanks....but why a "green" toothpick? lol, just kidding. The shoulder thing would bother me so glad to see that part mostly. Oh, and you would probably just drill for the gun/tailpipe issue, not a big deal
Drilling would work too i guess but you have to be precise as long as that recessis cut out, it shoild work. Thanks for the tip!
The easiest way to fix the pistol to fit in the car is to heat up a knife and push it into the tab
Takasa? Don't they mean Takara? 0.o
For some reason, KO people decided to call it that. Its a good thing though because you know whether or not you are buying a KO or legit one.
That's probably true.

lol ...limped "missle"
For sanding you could use what I use which is an emory board aka fingernail file
YourTaintStinks for the tail pipe use a dremel to drill the hole thru or shave down the tab
YourTaintStinks PS love that you are KO friendly
YourTaintStinks Even KO's need loving too :) Thanks for watching!
