Anyone who watched "old Legend" (content from before Warhammer II) could speculate that Legend was probably holding back for a while now but so, so, so many of Legend's livestreams are mired in people asking the same questions over, and over, and over while never satisfied with the answers they get. These people work as a kind of nagging conglomerate in pushing and forcing their points on bias alone, no evidence or anything, making wild speculations and just being the most exacerbating kind of people to have any kind of discussion with; like peer pressure alone will prove any argument point for them or something, I don't know. These baffling people come back with the same questions backed by the same nothing points and I am so happy that some of them got the telling off that they so desperately needed and just enjoyed that tear down so much! Yeah, I tried the Dynasties update, and it was alright, but I don't understand the complete 180 people did on it. The map is huge, and there's a lot of new factions, which are pretty interesting. The problem is, that should have been the game in the start. They dropped a neutered POS, and expected people to shell out $50 for it.

As an advice for new players, Medieval 2 AI usually gives the player some 10-20 turns before focus on him. That is more than enough time to expand and push back the other factions so that along with soft AI cheats makes Med2 a really easy game. The soundtrack is also a banger.
@@MsSirAndy Don’t worry about it. Medieval 2 is a really easy game. Even if you turtle in your starting territory, you can still win. That way the AI will build up their provinces, which is nice when you don’t have money to do it yourself. The battles are where you need to focus, because winning battles well fixes everything in this game.
Stainless Steel 6.4 is my favorite mod for Medieval 2 Total War. The biggest improvement I would want to see for a potential future Medieval 3, is multiple time period campaigns or an extended tech tree to incorporate at least 3-4 military time periods. 1. Early Medieval (peasant militia and early chainmail knights), High Medieval (professional militia and advanced chainmail knights), 3. Late Medieval (early gunpowder - arquebus and platemail knights), 4. Early Renaissance (late gunpowder - muskets, pikes, and partial plate knights).
There will never be a Medieval 3, and I hope thats true, because if CA ever makes Medieval 3, you will regret to ever want this because it will be the most dogshit game ever made
Some thoughts on the thing with the chat, when I watch a livestream I am usually pretty active in chat, reading and trying to answer peoples questions and meming a bit, trying to troll Legend a lil. And I notice there are always tons of people constantly asking about playing other Total War games and mods than the one Legend is currently playing. If he is playing Rome 2, they are asking about Atilla, if you are playing Atilla, they are asking about that 1212 AD mod, if its Medieval 2 they ask about Empire or Third Age and it just goes on and on and on. I get everyone has their favorite games and want to see those played, but my dudes, if Legend wanted to play those games he would be playing them on stream, you dont need to ask about that. I think it would be a good idea to just put up a pinned comment on every stream to notify people; today Legend is playing, for example, Medieval 2. He does not suggestions on which game to play next, please dont ask about mods or other Total War games. Today its just Medieval 2. And then hope that maybe half the people who click on the stream actually read that pinned comment. Furthermore, congratulations on maintaining your composure for so long, it was an entertaining vod to watch. I can lose my temper myself just interacting with ten people at a time on the internet, so having hundreds of people talking to you in the chat must be exponentially more frustrating sometimes. My best ever campaign in M2TW was HRE. Of all the Catholic factions there the one which has a good unit of every type, they start off in a great position, fantastic late game army. Probably my favourite faction after England (I'm lazy so love just doing longbow spam)
I know legends not a big artillery fan, but I personally find it a must-have for settlement defense. 1-2 flaming ballista bolts down a choke point will rout most units. They rally, but repeat the process and they effectively do no damage. You can beat extremely unfavorable odds this way. Siege also lets you assault settlements before the pope mandates a ceasefire. But I get that’s only important if you care about excommunication and crusades
When I played Medieval 2 I would slowly grow my empires and try to advance my tech to get the most advanced armies possible. Watching legend roll over the map with armies of basic troops is incredible. You're the best, Legend.

A WW1 TW game "ran out of budget", thats just wild. You would imagine with it being such a "untouched" market, they would have took a real swing at glory with that one, rather than just let it die a death. A ww1 TW could be "Empire 2" everyone always asked for. TW but on a true world wide scale, sounds amazing just thinking about it.
the only reason i don't play the HRE in medieval 2 is just that it is too powerful and i almost don't feel there is any real challenge for a skilled player
There isn't a single faction in this game that is challenging for a skilled player. Doesn't mean it isn't fun but it does impact its game cycle; like some games I can play a campaign for easily 60+ hours. This one takes on average 8 hours to complete victory and 20 to map paint. I do find myself coming back every 6 months or so to play a campaign but I won't go campaign to campaign which I will do with some other, harder games.
Byzantines are close but if you get a good early start with Alexios you’re pretty much set. Thanks to the fact that he’s the best general in the first 30 turns winning battles is fairly easy unless you’re outnumbered.

Medieval 3 needs to have indepth population mechanic reflecting the fuedal classes and lords, to artisans and expand on guilds. A better building browser, and a more historical look on regions, settlements, monumental structures, and economic regulation. Revamped combat systems, with unit class, combined with animations that reflect that units class and/or stats. Assigining titles, field commanders and a more diverse system of deploying armies that reflects the order of.medieval battle over time. Unique, imactful diplomacy (requesting aid, selling and purchasing troops in friendly territitories, exchanging goods for favors) Wider trait system so that your generals arent always spammed with "winning first" plus one dread even when you release prisoners. Integral governments with a wide list of policies based on historical actions. The tech tree could be integrated into the building details. For ex, when you build a market, right clicking on the market opens up details similar to settlement details, but displays goods withing the region, and building and infrastructure related to those resources. And those buildings chain to population class and titles. Vineyards unlock royal estates. Which would have bonuses for the realm in wine, court system, foriegn affairs, wealth and esteem. Apart from a construction, receuitment, retrain tab, and additional policies tab accessable to governors, and that can play with autonomy. For some much needed internal regulations, not just standard squalor and unrest. And a closer look on administrative actions. Like a break down of squalor, to give the game more variety. Rather thsn squalor being a base unit of negative public order, there should be indentifiers on specific elements of squalor that have different hidden triggers. Squalor from crime, unemployment, uneducation, health expectancy. These variables should be singled out, and in turn the player has options to address these issues, for better or for worse. I love the randomized genetic tree, for passing down traits, so that can be expanded. As well as elceting governors vs generals, there needs to be a distinction. Apadtable provinces, by contruction buildings of law, regions then adopt those political views, either complient, or combative, but control is essential. Most mods already have these mechanics
I think Morale in Warhammer is beyond CA to do. The difference in morale between races may have been difficult for them to implement fairly. Dwarves should be taking 80% casualties to rout and skaven slaves should be running after 3 deaths. Just as and extreme example. Also there is the whole innate fear of elves for goblins etc.
The sad thing is that paradox is going the same way CA was. Each DLC they make now is like 20-30 GBP and has less content than their cheaper ones. That is also combined with the fact that the new games they are releasing always feel unfinished without the overpriced DLC

In the original Medieval total war game you could start a campaign in 3 different time periods early, late and high period!!!
