It was an absolute pleasure spending the time with you both. It certainly left me moved deeply. I'll just hang around a bit, staring in the flames. 🙏🔥✨
Late to the party, but enjoyed this a lot! Classy reaction and analysis of a work of art like this. You did justice! Well done, you are so great together!
Thank you both, it was fascinating to hear a composer and pianist enjoy this new album. You add something special to the event. Bits of Floors own solo album and Northward style singing! Cinematic drama, doom and gloom, heavy, then folky campfire, lullaby. They definitely do flow from song to song. Tuomas déjà vu themes. Did you catch the shout-outs? [Yes!] Tuomas makes you look things up, the best way to learn. The Antikythera Mechanism...
the sound at the begin and the end of the album is an old fashioned movie projector, with a fan cooling the heat of the lanternlight. You do not want the celluloid to melt or catch fire. The antikythera mechanism was found a century ago on an ancient Greek shipwreck, dated over 2000 years ago. It is assumed to be an astronomical analogue calculator, with a lot of cogs, and amazing that such a gadget was made so long ago.
Wonderful to meet Melody. Melody is correct. Solitude, yet hopeful. The Antikythera Mechanism was the culmination of mythology, cosmology, politics, and science among the Greeks. Many think it may be considered as the first computer. The Weave has a musical vocal theme right from Grieg's "Peer Gynt". One of my favorite's.
The best reaction I've seen so far on this album. Watched almost an hour of it. It was like my first listen and then it also got so emtional in the end with Lanternlight. That's such a good album. Something Whispered Follow Me ist for me, after An Ocean Of Strange Islands, the best song on the album. Floor shines in so many ways.
Thank you! Agreed! I’ve listened to the album a few more times and I think Something Whispered Followed Me is my favorite at the moment! And The Weave. Floor’s vocals really shine on those songs.
This album really took a few listens.... it really feels like a movie score more than ever before, in a way of not relying on simple hooks alot of the time but really the storytelling, the imagination, almost to the point of sacrificing "musical gratification" for really telling the stories as intended...... also, "The Weave" as whole is written like a Palindrome..... meaning both lyrics and music mirror themselves throughout the song, and i guess in terms of meaning (if starting from the point that "spider silk" is about spinning the fates, then "The Weave" is about weaving and unweaving those threads of life, hence the mirroring in the middle of the song.... very interesting! as single stand-alone song, an ocean of strange islands still is my favourite as well, but the rest of the album is really starting to grow on me, but i feel one really needs a different approach than listening to more "standard" albums
Thank you for a knowledgeable and informative reaction. Definitely my favourite Nightwish album, and I have to agree with you Something Whispered…… is my favourite track.
Agreeing on your Reactor A&P Pedro said, that Nightwish needs to play (when they return Touring) the "Yesterwynde" Album Live from start to finish - it will be their "Pink Floyd - The Wall" type of Concert - Damn, my hair on my arms just raised by the thought of it..
Lanternlight is my personal song of the year 2024. Top 3 in my NW rating. Yesterwynde my top album of the year and ranking between 1 and 3 of all NW albums. Whatever guard you have up, when Floor's voice comes in she cut's thru it like a fresh sharpened butcher knife and get's you right into your soul and while your bleeding out you feel satisfied. When Floor goes into her emotional mode you can sleep in the finnish winter outside in the woods and still be warmed by her voice and feel comfortable. All musicians are far beyond horizon of their possible skills. Tuomas - what can I say - welcome back Mozart, nice to meet you and hopefully you will feed us with more of your unbelievable inspirations vocally as well as musically. Much Love from Germany to you and your passionate reactions!
Children of ata is based on the true story of 6 Tonga children who ran away from their boarding school, stole a boat, were shipwrecked, and survived 15 months lost in the pacific ocean on an uninhabited island called ata
@@zbygniewprlwytzkofsky6614 By the way, I also learned that Thomas father passed away and i think that's why this álbum is more emotional, mentioning Laternlight as an example
Story is on YT. Pretty amazing tale! th-cam.com/video/DYebOCCoTYM/w-d-xo.html (Interesting, and probably not a pure coincidence, that "Lord of the Flies" is alluded to twice on the album.)
This album is so good. Can't get enough of it. So many different emotions it evokes. But what I remember most is the END. What I hear in this album is saying goodbye. Is it from the Band? I hope not. “An Ocean of Strange Islands” takes me on a journey from Tuomas. 2nd track is about a ship without a crew on a one-way trip. 3rd track is about "afterlife will arrive". and also "In the end, to the stars". In every track I find references to the ending with the last track "Lanternlight" as the big finale. I hope they still make music together in the future. I cant without them
Alexa-97 is correct that the song is referencing the true story of the Tongan teenagers that survived on the island of Ata, but the deeper source is Rutger Bregman's book "Humanity", which contrasts the cooperative, interdependent and trusting spirit of the real "children of Ata" against the chaotic, selfish and murderous behavior by the fictional characters in "The Lord of the Flies" (which was not based on any actual events, and was written by a deeply disturbed man). Bregman's book overall presents a positive view of humanity, against the common thread of nihilism and cynicism so prevalent in our society. I highly recommend it. (Tuomas mentioned the book as his inspiration in an interview a few weeks ago.)
Gladiator soundtrack is a main influense to Tuomases composing. I just saw an interwev where he picked up five records that have the gratest influence to his work, and Gladiator sountrack was one of those.
I listened this album from Radio Rock with comments from Tuomas about each song. He said that Lanternlight was the first song for this album at 2022 and that he wrote it after some event in his family or his life at that point (I don't remember his exact words). I thought if it's about his father passing, but if it happened just last year, then it isn't that.
The album was a bit of a grower for me. On first listen, it isn’t as immediate as an album like say “Once” is. It’s quite proggy (possibly THE proggiest of all their albums) and takes a while to unpack. The more I listen though and read through the lyrics, it’s clear how much care and attention was put into every note. Now it’s probably in my top 5 Nightwish albums (either number 4 or 5 for me personally). I think it’s their saddest album too. Both Hiraeth and Lanternlight get my waterworks going 🥹. As of now? 9/10. I think it’s easily the best one of the Floor era and the best one since Imaginaerum.
also, as suggestion i have the huge "DEVIN TOWNSEND" rabbit hole for you...... canadian quirky guy that has done everything from extreme metal to ambient massage music, a space opera about an alien looking for the perfect coffee beans throughout the whole universe; extremely creative, his music being even in his eyes, more of an emotional waste that he just has to get rid of..... and he looks like lord voldemort lol :D good starting points are probably: - Genesis (with an amazing self sarcastic music video of him reacting to his own video - you also get a good grip whats going on in his head lol - although be warned, it is quite confusing) - Deadhead (live at royal albert hall - ultra intense, not lot of vocals, but those that are are...... the pure definition of raw emotion (note that he had a cold though lol) - Why (preferably order of magnitude live video) - Death of Music (also royal albert hall) I would be VERY interested on your take, caus honestly i have NEVER listened to music this..... free
@@RossNixon They just signed contract with nuclear blast for more albums to come and Floor just said in her last interview it is just a pause live, not an end. So stop predicting any kind of end.

There is also orchestral version on all album and its magical, its lika movie score
Ocean has become my favourite Nightwish song in just days. What a masterpiece.
I love that you pointed out the bass. It really stands out and I was impressed. No one can ever replace Marko, but Jukka really shined on this album!
Same here. Shout out to Jukka
That was very enjoyable.
Thank you, it helped me to get into the album.
Endless Forms Most Beautiful remains my favourite album. 👌
Thank you for an interesting shared listening experience. Really nice hour and a half.

Beautiful album, great reaction, so naturally
This was a blast watching with you. 😊👌

Returning to you two on this quite Sunday afternoon. Listening to the album again. What a journey this is!!! Epic!! 🦋🙏🏻🔥🌺
What an album
The Weave is the best song I've ever heard.
Tuomas said The Weawe is a "song where the drummer Kai Hahto has four hands, or at least it sounds like that" 🔥 😅
It’s so metal 🤘🏻
Something whispered follow me. The best song I've heard in years.
Absolutely! Still my favorite from the album.
There it is: 1:18:03 🔥😁
Thanks for your full reaction. Great. With a❤ from northern Germany
Thank you! 😃
Humming Floor is beautiful

Antikythera sounds like a crossover between Sabaton and Therion with a sprinkle of After Forever
Children of ata is sooooo good 🥰
It was a pleasure listening to Yesterywnde with you both 🇦🇺👏🏻👏🏻picked this up from the NW Nightdreamers discord server

Thorougly enjoyed listening this with you both, however couldnt help thinking of John Lennon and Yoko Ono seeing you!

And now I saw Floors comment in some magazine that it is indeed about Tuomas' father.
Tuomas father passed away in 2021
Han Zimmer is also one of Tuomas's major musical influences.

Yeah, Floor recorded vocals 6 weeks postpartum. I don't understand how... 😂

Great and genuine reaction, and you just have to think: the number of subscribers does not reflect your quality...
Language is not finnish😂 thank you your video, i like it🎉
It might be from Tonga, Polynesian?
Have you heard Epica with Apocoliptica doing "Rivers"? Very intence.
No Finnish in the songs, Tongan and Welsh. 😊
Although Troy was born in Workington, Cumbria, it's not too far from Wales... Haha!
The roadsigns are in dual languages.
I get the feeling they are preparing for the end of history.
We should all prepare. It's coming. I've read The Book.
To quote Watchmen: ‘The end? Nothing ends Adrian. Nothing ever ends’.
