The lyrics is a letter of acceptance, transformation, and release. "I am the snow in your palm" speaks of how, when we die, we never truly leave; we become part of the nature of the universe. In this way, we transform into something eternal and far greater and more important than human existence. The light of those people from the past will accompany us in those small details that always bring us peace-gazing at the stars, the snow in your palm. I'm really crying. 🥺 tuomas wrote this song for his father
I feel like this song is a ode to everyone who lost theier parrents!! Floor sings the sentence, i was the one who climbed of your back not long ago, same words used in the song Our decades in the sun, that basicly why i say its about lost parrents, who became stardust..
The whole album is a masterpiece but if I have to name a "favourite song" it would be this one. It is so beautiful and brings me to tears. And Floor's and Troy's voices sound great together in this song. I know a lot of people prefer the heavier songs but I love the mixture of heavy and soft on this album and like both equally.
One of the things I love about this piece compositionally, is how it adheres so strongly to the 3/4 pulse up until that orchestra comes in on that last verse, and then the melody starts playing around more rhythmically into a much looser interpretation of 3/4. Really highlights that openness of the orchestration and emphasizes the epic news of that moment. Beautifully done.
Great to hear your insights. This sounds like her solo album, I think Tuomas likes the variety of her singing. Floor said that she chokes up too easily with this song, the band rewinds, during the sessions, to let her recover. Mmm, the warmth of her voice. Tuomas wrote this in memory of his father. The pocket watch to wind... The old style film projector, a "Magic Lantern". The old flickering movies, like memories. Did you get the Tuomas déjà vu references? I am the snow on your palm [Storytime] I am the secret stream [Sagan, Shudder Before The Beautiful, Endlessness?] Moss beneath your feet [My Walden?] I am you who climbed off of my back [Our Decades in the Sun?] Petrichor [The smell of fresh rain on grass, Last Ride Of The Day, Song of Myself] To the meadows I go [Meadows of Heaven?] Then Troy drifts in with his soft voice, he made up the word, so his pronunciation, is our guide, _right at the end_ of the album. :)
I have owned the CD since September 24 or 25...as it was delivered straight from Wal-Mart+....and it was $10 USD cheaper than Amazon! The whole album is freaking brilliant! Ending the CD with LanternLight is totally brilliant! The perfect ending to the trilogy.
Thanks for this (again) beautiful song of Nightwish. Keep them coming. SUGGESTIONS: 1. I hope you can find the time to react to this TOP LINEUP OF MANY MUSICAL INTRUMENTS/SINGERS: The Source is the 9th studio album from AYREON , a progressive metal/rock opera project by Dutch musician Arjen (Ahr-Yun) Anthony Lucassen, released on April 28th, 2017. *_”The Day That The World Breaks Down”_* is a song that features all 11 (quite well known) main guest singers (you’ll be surprised) and is taken from that album. Arjen himself is telling (in subtitles) who the singers are and which instruments are used and by which standards. Btw. This creative original clip is 13 min. long and I think you won’t regret it !! Official (Arjen’s) clip: th-cam.com/video/oFuMKdrzPqU/w-d-xo.html 2. Dutch band EPICA (with Floor's BFF since their teen years Simone Simons) with *_"Unleashed"_* : th-cam.com/video/rxd6sxLxdys/w-d-xo.html from the Retrospect concert and 3rd live album in celebration of their tenth anniversary. The recorded live show took part in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Because of the great demand by international fans, Epica announced a live stream, called the Retrostream, on March 4, 2013. Epica performed on stage with the same orchestra that accompanied Epica in the recording of the live album The Classical Conspiracy: the 70-piece Extended Hungarian Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra and the Choir of Miskolc National Theatre.
I actually saw a comment from a salty (clearly Tarja fan) that said this album did nothing to showcase Floor's voice... sad individual.... This album is beautiful, and Floor just perfects it.
On first listen, I’m mostly listening to the music. But now after hearing it a bunch of times, the lyrics are so impactful, I finally got the meaning. “I’m the snow in your palm” 😭
I've heard this song 50 times by now and every time I cry at the beginning. But from the moment Floor's voice is doubled, the pressure on my chest disappears and a feeling of confidence comes over me. A genius and a goddess... that's all it takes to create great art.

This is an instant classic. One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
I would love this at my funeral so beautiful..
I said much the same .. although I thought a wake perhaps .. so beautiful it hurts.
Yes, if there is someone participating.. they would need to hear this song
the amount of souls touched by floor jansen....
I'm glad you watched this one, and it gets better and better if you watch it again and again...
Kiitos from Finland. Great songwriter, composer. TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN.
Just when you think that Floor reaches all of the places that there are to reach she does this.... Love and miss you Mum and Dad 🙏♥️
IS IT only Floor? Tuomas wrote this and I believe this Work of art will live on forever when others sing it

Totally agree!
Mournful, yet serene ending to the journey.

I lost one of my very close friends to cancer on the 19 September and this song was released on the 20th. Just beautiful and emotional ❤

This is stunning 🎼🎶
Thank you for reacting to NW! Lanternlight is one of my favorites in the Yesterwynde album.

So much more than I ever expected!

😍😍😍😍😍😍
You seem to have managed to get the sound better👌
Compouser Tuomas Holopainen metal Mozart
I think Tuomas is not uman, every album he thinks is a surprise, different each one from the others but unbelivable !
"Relaxing ending"? I am crying like a baby, this song broke me apart

John where are the new releases?
On e.g. YT music, the album
