One additional question: the snapdragons in your first shown greenhouse: did you germinate them on a heat mat and afterwards put them in this greenhouse? I'm always asking myself how I can put them in our unheated greenhouse, after having germinated the seedlings indoors at room temperature. I have to save space but I also don't want to shock the baby-seedlings. And: did you do the same with your nigella etc.? How low does temperature fall in your greenhouse? Or is this greenhouse heated?
The square greenhouse is unheated. Temps outside are hanging out around 0 celsius.
Snaps, nigella, orlaya, thistle, rudbeckia, larkspur are all cool weather flowers, and don’t mind a light frost. Nigella is usually fall seeded here, because it is perfectly happy to be under snow all winter long.
We put the seedlings out last week when the weather was a bit warmer, so they had some time to acclimate outside before the cool weather swooped back in.
@@greenbeefloralco Thank you, that explains an important item to me!! I always try to get my seedlings out asap, because I'm in need of the space. But I'm always so afraid they couldn't manage the temperature shock. So I wasn't shure if I got you wrong about the unheated greenhouse. Its the perfect method to me, I just never dared to try so early ;) Thank you for the encouragement!! Tomorrow mine will be thrown out in the greenhouse (hopefully not being frozen iceblooms the day after) ;))) Have a nice week with your lovely family, sweet dogs and flourishing flowers!!! 🤗🌻💖🌸
If you're worried about the shock, bring some humidity domes out and add them over for some extra insolation. Frost cloth works well too, while they acclimate.
@@greenbeefloralco THATS ALSO a verry good idea!!! Thank you so much!!! I'll try it out and tell you how it worked out here in denmark. Usually temperatures in march shouldn't go so much down that it freezes in my greenhouse, but there are some glasses cracked during the winterstorms this year, so one never knows how much it still holds the warmth. 🥶 Especially with all the wind we get at the moment ... 🥴 !!!Nice sunny days to you and thank you so much for the tipps!!! 🤗🌻🌸
