      Thats great. Thanks for watching. Here pretty soon im going to pull the valve covers and intake off of the engine to fix that rattle, pretty sure its a collapsed lifter. She runs great otherwise.

    Short shoe ALWAYS goes toward the front. The larger primary does most of the braking and ALWAYS goes toward the rear. Lubricant the backing plate nubs with a little anti-seize as well. Good video. Maybe the wheel is backwards.

    If that OEM master cylinder is part number 5452310 and the code on the front pad is "CT", I hope you kept it.
    I had White Post Restorations in VA redo my original (same one) and they did a great job.

      Its somewhere around. Im about to get back on this one. Got some tires for it, some new parts to fix that lifter rattle and then floor pan replacement.

  • @mikeyshouseofbrakes8463

    Brake shoes, not pads. You need to clean the backing plate and apply lubricant on each of the oval pads on the backing plate where the shoes ride.

    Bit by bit! You’ll be able to drive it on the road soon. I always found drum brakes are a pain in the behind. But like you said any car pre about 1970 had 4 wheel drum brakes, generally manual none vacuum boosted. I can tell you’ve done this a few times tho. Car is in good hands. I do like your new floor pans! Those will be easy to keep clean and change when they wear out!

    • @BrokenWrenches
      @BrokenWrenches  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yea they arent fun. drum brakes work fine as long as you drive defensively. They cant compete with new cars tho.

    • @darrencatenacci2737
      @darrencatenacci2737 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrokenWrenches Yes newer cars have really come a long way brake wise. My cousin told me once if they had today’s brakes on muscle cars we would probably have a lot more of them left to restore.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but that bottom spring isn't installed correctly that will never self-adjust with the spring on adjustment side of the adjuster.
