Hey everyone, Brandon here.
This channel is dedicated to one of my best buds,
Chase Hancock, who I lost to cancer in 2020. We both loved Roadkill, Vice Grip Garage and all the other good ones. We both always talked about starting our own channels, doing revivals, tech videos and such. He can’t but I can. Here’s to you Chase, hope your up there watching and poking fun when necessary!!
The purpose of this channel is to share my garbage with the rest of the diy guys and gals out there. My full time job is restoring trucks, cars, bikes, tractors or whatever catches my eye.
If you like random junk follow along, if you dont,,,,move along.

Interesting to see how the series started, thank you for taking us along
Thank u
put a new rubber boot on the shifter so rain doesn't get in.
Caution on the POL kit. I got mine after watching this video - came damaged and it has been a long process working to get some help. The guy who answered the phone was a jerk then you email pictures to thier email and wait. Still waiting for a response. Decent kit as long as you get it undamaged, the customer service is sub par.
I am now inspired. My old 8N hasn't wanted to start in five years.
Got a 69 gs 350 we sould go cruise around lol.
I see this was 2 years ago. my 2008 downshifts while traveling at full speed, what is the problem , anybody?
I have the same motor and I can’t get it to turn over it feels like it has to much compression any advice on what to look at advice would be awesome thanks 😅
Thank you so much for making this video. Saved me hours or headaches
I never expected this to be as interesting as it was. Well done!
Great video mate glad to have you back, cheers from Downunder 🇦🇺🤘🏽
Thanks man. thanks for hanging around and waiting for me.
Congratulations mate great to hear, was hoping everything was all good.Cheers from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
yep, life gets in the way of having fun sometimes. hopefully having the fire department job will free up more time for youtube stuff.
Great news, more on the red skylark I love it 👍🏻👍🏻
i can’t wait to get back on that one. I purchased a rebuild kit for the transmission and also have another engine for it if i need it. i plan to daily drive that car. appreciate ya.
Glad to see you back at it!!
thanks buddy !!!?
Great job I enjoyed every episode of this build
@@M.D.Jones87 thanks so much for watching !!!! very much appreciated
Good for you. Congratulations
thanks man, hard work !!!
Good deal! Congrats finally got the dream done. Was curious where you were hiding. Lot of work getting that done! Stay cool
appreciate ya very much. im sure a lot of people figured i threw in the towel. ive got a bunch of small parts for the cabover cleaned up and or painted during the downtime.
Good to see 👍👍👍
thanks a lot !!
Your back!! That's great. Hope to see more soon. The mower looks and sounds good. Well done. Best wishes to you.
thanks a lot !!!! That was a fun little project.
Good to see you back. Lawn mower is running like a top. Thanks for sharing.
i was a bit surprised myself!!!!
Great to see you Brandon long time. That’s quite the mower really sounds good! Long way from the back of that old ford pickup. How’s the cab over coming been hoping to see how it’s going. Stay cool
Thank you I’m doing a conversion drum to disk on 69 convertible stage one I appreciate it
good luck. shouldn’t be to difficult for ya.
I had to take mine apart and that is exactly how I did it
i plan on doing some interior restoration this fall/winter when its cooler.
This is Awesome!! I thought it was my transmission! My head was spinning thinking about how much it would cost to replace the transmission. 😆 I watched this video and this is exactly what was wrong! Thanks!!!
glad it helped!!!
Perfect!
First time I did this boss walked and lost it wtf are you doing. Then he saw the results
That's why I bend the razor blade a bit
Me too. I also roll the blade's edge like a cabinet scraper. The razor then micro-planes beautifully.
how much clearance is there from the oil pan and cross member? Just curious how much further forward the engine can go. Thank john from norman oklahoma
@@user-lc6sr5op3o hey buddy. you could easily scoot it forward 1.5 inches no problem, maybe more.
@@BrokenWrenches cool. i was going to use the 4l60 which came with the 5.3 so hopfully i can use the stock compressor setup with the ls motor adaptor plate. You helped out alot with your video for swap!!!!
I have worked on similar conditions. I do exactly what you did, bypass all the wiring, just hook up the CDI, check spark, spray WD40 or LPS in the plug hole and turn the engine over a few times and install plug. Remove carb and squirt some mixed gas, heavy on the oil mix 30 to 1, in the intake and crank it over to see if it lights off. You can leave the carb on if you want and just spray the gas in the carb throat. If it has ok compression and spark, they usually run. If the crank seals and bearing are good it will run. I would like to have one of these engines mounted into a full suspension mountain bike with really low gears for creeping up the trail.
Poor thing looks like it was run over. I have 6 of these, 1 very good, 1 good, 2 nice, 2 parts bikes, but one of the parts bikes runs pretty good but needs crank bearings. Yamaha put a lot of engineering into this bike. Shaft drive, oil injection, cdi ignition, full size handlebar controls and decent breaks. They are durable and last a long time. Thanks for your time and video
these are great bikes, well engineered for the most part. a lot simpler and more robust than a lot of similar sized bikes. starting system is way better than the honda express. ive got a good running example that i plan on restoring on the channel.
Excellent instruction video. I'm SUBSCRIBED.
thank you so much
would it be possible to use paint like a guide coat on smaller clear runs? I understand the concept of protecting the flat clear under the bondo, It seems to me that some sags or runs would not have to go quite extream as covering with bondo, Or would you just do the cut and buff as you would if there wasn't a sag or small run in this instance?
that would depend on the severity of the run, generally speaking finer grit paper (1k) or higher will tend to float over imperfections like runs or dust and debris. I always get rid of these imperfections first before doing a cut and buff on a whole panel. on real small dust nibs or super small sags/runs i use a short piece of paint stick wrapped in sandpaper, usually 1k grit and hit the dust specks. the bondo method is usually for more severe runs, the bondo essentially protects the good areas around the runs and prevents these surrounding areas from being sanding to thin in reference to the clearcoat. thanks for watching.
I would like to find some to rebuild my motor. 350 cubic inch.92 g30. 377 miles. Tom in tarpon springs Florida
Lots of really useful tips. Thank you
thank you very much. new video on this truck coming out soon enough.
Thumbs up,,,,
thanks
Hi, nice jobs & thanks for your VDO, I really love G20 & I have one 1992 hi roof tiara conversion 350TBI,,,,greeting from Bangkok, THANKS again.
thank you very much for watching!!
Where does the water go in.
it goes into those slots on the sides of the lower unit forward of the prop. best way to test run it would be to just back it into the water at the boat dock and leave it strapped to the trailer with the bottom of the motor in the water.
@@BrokenWrenches ok. I know where you’re talking about. It’s like 3 slot lines on top of each other. I’m selling it and someone interested want me to show them the engine runs.
I have this exact motor. It’s a boat that was given to me. I have no idea how to check if the motor works because I don’t know where the water goes in to cool the engine. And I know that you can’t start the engine without the water going through the cooling system.
You need to get a thing called “flush muffs”, Walmart sells them. There’s a water intake on the lower unit down near the propeller. To feed cooling water to the motor, place the flush muffs over the intake, connect a water hose to it and turn on the water. Then you should be able to safely run the motor.
Thank you very much. Just saved me a ton of money hiring someone to replace my entire fuse box. I did not even think to just add one. Thank you!
easy and customizable to suit your needs, also super cheap.
This is amazing bro. This is the only video that showed me exactly what I was looking for definitely recommending you to others
I appreciate that!
Ell ya 🎉
What is the small round petal on the floor for? The one next to the hydraulic fill hole? Also how full should the break fluid resivour be? Thanks
I'd give my right arm for this truck, I love survivors, this really is a great example
Thanks very well presented, great detail. please provide the part number for the booster and mounting kit. Thanks again.
When you overlayed the flex plates, how is a sharpie marking accurate enough?
both parts are super rigid, you can spin the the torque converter up against the flexplate and it will usually make little scuff marks to help center the drilled holes. you drill the holes a little oversized just like the factory holes and when your putting it together permanently you just gradually snug each bolt a little at a time while rotating the engine and wiggling the converter a little… as long as the bolts draw down equally and your drill holes are reasonably close your good to go.
Which type of bolt did you use
Can you do my 78 next
technically yes !! thanks for watching
