      Do you really not see a difference between visual proof of someone and word of mouth? And actually if you make a sex tape with someone and can't prove that you had a reasonable expectation for it to stay private, they can disseminate it. It's called personal responsibility. Don't run around taking naked pics, making sex tapes, or talking about personal shit. Pretty scary you think you're that special that the government would save your ass over 'coming out' 😂

    • @jcarter3238
      @jcarter3238 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ita-eng subber Where does your responsibility come into play then? This is where you use discretion regarding what you say and do and to whom you say or do things with. Do you really want to see a generation being raised with the notion that they can just wild out and expect to never pay the piper for their actions and be judged? There are consequences. And if someone is harmed because it got out that they were gay, that is on the person that harmed them, not the person that leaked the information. Be careful not to take responsibility off of the person committing such an atrocious act. If I have no allegiance to Jimmy, but my best friend asks me if Jimmy is gay, and I know he is so I answer, I have done nothing wrong. And if my friend then tells some douchebag and that douchebag decides to harm Jimmy, the fault is on the douchebag. This is part of growing up and being responsible for your own actions. 'Coming out' about anything to the public gives a license to everyone to comment, judge, or worse. This is why I would never blab about something I don't want everyone to know, and why I'm careful who I keep in my personal circle. Everyone should be like that about everything. Use your best judgement.

    • @jcarter3238

      ita-eng subber NOPE! You put yourself out there, it's public information. People are allowed to compile that information and disseminate it. And there is NO LAW on the books for this. These are consenting adults that chose to take a risk. A journalist may be punished by their company, but not by law if the information was gathered through legal means. I.e. Word of mouth, or as public information floating around.

    The principal immediately afterwards demanded $50,000 from the local community for "legal funds". Evans made it very clear neither he nor the LGBT rights groups intended to sue. The school then hired an attorney for an "investigation", accusing Evans of trying to push his "homosexual agenda", this school makes me sick.

      Everyone is allowed to express themselves however they want, especially if given an opportunity to give a speech because they've earned it. Further more, this is the United States, one of the constitutional rights is freedom of speech, and he is allowed to speak in any way he desires. He is spreading a message for equality and to normalize LGBT, he is a hero. Many care if someone is gay or not still; a matter you've clearly done zero research on, so stop acting like you're so well informed and know of a single struggle LGBT people go through.

    So being heterosexual is more important than achieving good grades. Even though his school didn't want him and publicly disowned him, I am glad to know he has now found a community that will support him, and it is good to hear that his parents haven't evicted their son from the family home. A much better start in life than his so-called school offered.

    • @beantrader4723
      @beantrader4723 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sinners never give a thought to 'being evicted by God'. God said, "In the End Day man will become a law unto himself". Forget God's laws, just make up your own. God said, "You're either for me or against me". There is no compromise with God. God said, "Neither Adulterers, Fornicators, Homosexuals, liars, thieves, gossipers, murderers, blasphemers, usurpers, or idol worshipers will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. God set down laws, teachings & judgments depicting what was allowed & what was forbidden. Man was told to 'choose' whom he would serve between good or evil. Sin is not OF God, but sin is OF evil; evil will not be allowed in eternal Heaven. God put his laws into every man's heart, therefore, everyone born on earth 'knows' good from evil, they only pretend that they don't. Christ's entire purpose was to remove man's sin nature & teach him to let go of living out the lies of the world by thinking, speaking, & doing the things AS they are done in Heaven, not AS they are done in Hell. When man rejects God's teachings, laws & judgments, he is 'choosing' to embrace the contradictions of Satin by worshiping in the kingdom of Evil. It's a CHOICE. If anyone created by God wants respect or acceptance, then OBEY GOD. It's an impossibility for God to create a human with unforgiveable sin & call it an 'abomination' (hated by him). Is God a liar? Or is man a liar?

      @@beantrader4723 That is only according to the rules of your religion, but those who do not belong to your religion do not have to obey the rules of your religion. Moreover, your translation of the Bible is but one of over 4,000, and if you look at the original scripts, it is in error as there was no word for “homosexual” in the Ancient Hebrew of the Old Testament, nor the Ancient Greek of the New Testament. It was not introduced into the Bible until 1946. The word did not exist until its creation by German psychiatrists in the 19th Century. The Bible also commands you to have your son killed by the local villagers if he is rude to you, or disobeys you. Is this a command you carry out or do you cherry pick? The Bible moreover condones slavery, and permits you to beat your slave to death without punishment, so long as it takes her more than 3 days to die from her injuries. Yet Jesus never spoke a single word against LGBT+ people having a relationship with another LGBT+ person, and nor do the Ten Commandments. There are over 40,000 denominations of Christianity of which yours is but one - and each regards all the other 39,999 as wrong. For example, the Roman Catholic Church teaches that remarriage after a no-fault divorce, birth control, same-sex marriage and women’s ordination are all mortal sins, i.e. deserving of being burned alive for trillions of years in The Lake of Scalding Sulphur. Yet, there are dozens of other Christian denominations who welcome LGBT+ parishioners with full sacraments, including ordination to the clergy and same-sex marriage. Same goes for the majority of reform synagogues in the USA and UK. Their deeply held religious views deserve to be respected just as much as yours; more so in my view, because they’re more aligned with the teaching of none-other than Jesus himself, who railed against the hypocrisy and religious fundamentalism of the Sadducees and the Pharisees - much like yours.

      if someone went on stage to give their speech.. and said "i love banging chicks" would that be appropriate behavior? peoples sexual preferences need to be kept to themselves. it use to be called Modesty. now sex is celebrated and glorified. NO sex (no matter where is comes from) it shouldn't be used as a sword or shield. it shouldn't be advertised and honored. keep that stuff to yourself and your "partner" it doesn't make you special or important. its not inspiring. its not brave to announced "preferences of who you like to be with in bed" its degrading!

      Hi, okimlistening2u, I really love your comments and I would like to share my point of view and I hope you can share your opinion on this. I am gay too, so I'm certainly supportive of this wonderful young man, and I'm very proud to see a young gay man succeeding in high school. What I think is that coming out is very personal issue, while graduation ceremony is a public event. So from what I've been taught, it's not polite to address personal issues in public when people are gathering to celebrate a special moment of their own. If the principal, most teachers and students knew that he was gay, and the principal still prevented him, then I think it would be a serious problem. As in this case, I'm not 100% sure about the principal's agenda cause the principal didn't specifically express his thoughts (anti-gay or not), but the fact he prevented him right before the speech was much more unacceptable. As an experienced educator, what's your opinion on this? I would really love know, thank you very much.

    • @jcarter3238
      @jcarter3238 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ronnie rodriguez You're not getting it. Nobody cares if he's gay. It's the fact that he feels it is appropriate to talk about his sex/love life. The speech is not for YOU as valedictorian, it is for the CLASS. Not your personal therapy session to get shit off of your chest. He didn't want to take that responsibility, he wanted to make it about HIMSELF. He's a self-absorbed brat that was obviously coddled by someone. Being gay doesn't give you immunity from being a narcissistic ass. If a student hijacks a ceremonial speech for a personal pulpit/agenda, they're not going to be allowed up there. SEVERAL straight students have faced the same thing. It's not bigoted, it's just that several of the LGBTQ community feel they're above the rules. This is the danger of labeling some people a 'protected class' and others not.

    • @ronnierodriguez8471

      J Carter There was no sex in his speech. You also say it was a rule. I beg to differ. This was the doing of the Principal because he did not like it. You would not be complaining if it was a straight guy was a valedictorian and mentioned something about chasing girls. In fact it would be a non-issue but bigots like you have a double standard because you feel that gay people are somehow less than even if one of them graduated at the top of his class. You also have absolutely no idea what a narcissist is. Donald Trump is a narcissist. I suggest you look up the definition.

I formally came out when I met my first boyfriend. We planned on never breaking up. I have never been afraid to be who I was. At 79, I’m still proud of who I am. You presented the best speech I’ve heard in years. I applaud you speech. The one I gave at my graduation even bored me. I’m not a funny person so it would be impossible to match your talent.

      @@beantrader4723god didn't say that last quote, but i assume you are trying to quote 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. in that case, the two ancient greek words translated to "effeminate" and "homosexual" are malakoi and arsenokoitai. malakoi actually means soft, usually used to describe people who are cowards, lazy, or lack self control. arsenokoitai was a combination of "man" and "bed" in ancient greek translations, but in ancient greek text it was usually used as sexually or economically exploitive in relationships. until 1946 these two terms weren't translated as homosexual, and the word homosexual didn't even exist in english until the late 1800s. this quote was mistranslated, most likely intentionally knowing how people treated homosexuals in the 1940s. also if you really think gays not being arrested is the same level of evil as murderers not being arrested, you need to rethink your morals.

    This guy is great. He's amazing. The real world will embrace him. I wish all the best for this wonderful soul. Buy the way, the part they objected to where he revealed he was gay was probably one of the sweetest most loving things I have ever heard one person say to another.

    Im gutted. Absolutely gutted. This young man worked hard to obtain this honor. I am a safe haven mom for kids like this, who are facing hate from small minded adults. I was brought to tears. I can believe how someome loves is such a concern to soooo many people.

    This is a violation of religious of Evan's religious freedom. Even if Evan was not using religion in any way, those who objected and refused to allow it were violating his freedom to not be dictated to by religion. Even if a charter school, it still was supported by taxpayer money and/or approved of by the official government bodies, and thus in violation of the constitution. And if he wanted to say he was christian or straight they would have no objection to that.

      Tiny Swan nope, sorry. If some girl goes to give her speech and includes her love life and who she happens to be attracted to, the school can tell her to revise the speech or else she isn't giving it. They asked him to leave his personal love life out of it and he refused. That's on him. He's a snot nose brat that thinks the sun rises and sets on him. His personal non-academic life offers nothing to the rest of the class.

    I can't believe this is still an issue in 2015.
    As one of three valedictorians in my class, I gave a graduation speech for my high school in Lakewood, Colorado in 1983, and the school authorities made me alter a quote from Oscar Wilde. Maybe things have progressed a bit - just a little bit - since then....

      God said, "In the End Day man will become a law unto himself", forget God's laws, just make up your own. God said, "You're either for me or against me". When man rejects God's teachings, laws & judgments, he is 'choosing' to embrace the forbidden pleasures of the world. It's a CHOICE. It's an impossibility for God to create a human with unforgiveable sin & call it an 'abomination' (hated). Is God a liar? Or is man a liar? What kind of world would it be if murderers, liars, thieves, adulterers designed flags, participated in parades, organized gov'ts to change laws so that they accept crimes, adopt innocent children whom they teach to lie, cheat & steal? Would it be like Sodom? God's world, God's rules.
