Homeowner caught me through Ring camera mowing their parents OVERGROWN yard for FREE
I saw this overgrown yard and I thought I'd knock and see if I could cut it for them. When no one answered at the door I went next door to see if they have their contacts, after that I went across the street and see if they know them, but no luck on both. So I told them both that I was going to cut it and I might make noises for a couple of hours. In the middle of the job I heard a voices coming from the Ring Camera so I talked the the daughter of the home owner. Turned out it was her parents yards and they were confused I was cutting it for them. At the end they ended up Hiring to follow up on the yard.

Thats very optimistic take. The otherside is the worry its someone trying to scam the owner by doing part of a cleanup then asking for money for the rest.

What you are doing is great, but just let the people know you are doing it for the community and explain how you post your pictures for you tube, and there's no charge. How were they being rude? They had no idea why someone was in their yard--for all they knew he could have been there to rob them. I love the job Cris did, but really not a fan of ANY TH-camr taking it upon themself to work uninvited on someone's property.
There are some people that, unlike chris, will scam people by cleaning part of a properity unasked in the hopes they will get hired to finish it

I think the easiest way to deal with them (if it were ever to happen again ) is to say …one of your neighbors has gifted you a free lawn service….they wanted it to be a surprise….in other words ..your neighbor got sick of looking at your poorly maintained yard…

The homeowner should say thank you for the free lawn mowing at the very least. Then maybe they should have answered the door to begin with.

Great video, thanks. Yeah, she doesn't maintain her lawn, yet when somebody does it for her and on top of it for free, she takes offense. Sharing the planet with such people is sometimes tough...
Yeah, that conversation was a bit uncomfortable to listen to. She might have been worried about a squatter moving in … in that case she should have someone maintain the lawn so not to give the impression the property is abandoned.
Another great free service, Chris. You handled the homeowners very respectfully. It looks so much better.

People are naturally suspicious. City will send out someone and charge you on the property statement as a fine. And some scammers will send you a bill and put a lien on the property falsely.
Once you graciously explained I'm sure they understood.

Enjoyed the story with this. Thanks for making the place better, for two yards, and glad you will be able to help maintain this one. That first cut wasn't easy, due to the tall and woody aspect of the weeds, but hopefully the grass will start to thicken by being cut and it will end up returning to the designed form in months ahead. Nice move in pruning/trimming the front entrance, so it can be used. The yard is looking 100% better. What a huge change. The nice landscaping and welcoming aspect is back in place.

Just say you do volunteer lawn transformations to help others, and to keep down possible pest issues for the house and the neighborhood; also that you're very careful to respect the property, and you happen to film your work for educational purposes online.
Those people were a bit snide, especially the male, but good for you being respectful, and if the woman ended up hiring you for regular service, that's cool. Make sure the first coupla checks clear immediately 🤣

Excellent JOB and cleanup. seemed like in some spots more weeds than grass hopefully grass will grow back quicker than the wees and it will look better for sure. God Bless you for doing two lawns at the same time.

During a drought weeds suck the water away from the grass, and it kills it so the weeds take over.
People also mow their actual healthy grass too low, inviting weeds to get the upper hand.

With the patchy lawn and the jungle jim, it makes it very difficult to keep it on the straight line. The holes on the yard makes it difficult
There is no grass in that lawn.
