  • Performance and power of the modern car depends on many sensors which sends data to ECM to perform efficient combustion. MAF and MAP sensors are among them which sends the quantity of air which is inhaled by the engine. so as times goes, these get dirty or clogged by the atmospheric dust and carbon. Cleaning them periodically will maintain the car's performance peak and put a smile in your face.

Bro as said its a shut off valve, unlike petrol cars, it has nothing to do with acceleration. Jst make sure its getting wide open when the engine is fired and closes when engine is off. It nly keeps the valve closed for about 5 or 8 secs while switching the engine off then opens up.

    What can be issue ?
    Dusty cabin air filter?

    • @dailyhandsdiy

Could be bad filter and also could be irregular coolnt gas flow through evaporator coil. Can be clogs in one side of evaporator or is running in low gas pressure through the coils or bad pressure valve in the AC circuit.

Hey, I have Ecosport Petrol 2016, one minor but peculiar observation I have been getting daily is my car slightly hesistates in terms of acceleration in specially in low rpms (under 2.5k rpm), there is a slight sluggishness and laziness in acceleration and power. Another strange thing is when in 1st gear it sometimes gives sudden acceleration surge.
I keep the car very very well maintained and overall it runs perfect but this slow acceleration and slughishness kind of feels bad everyday. Also I have never checked the MAP sensor. Do you think it could be the reason and should I clean it?

    Bro one question?
I bought 1st time diesel car in August 2019 ( Aspire diesel). Is diesel car emitting smoke? Is this its normal behavior ? I did the PUC with 2500 + rpm and smoke density was 0.44 and the limit is 1.6 ....My car is giving better mileage ( 21 kmpl on high way with 80-100 kmph speed with Ac) and performance too. Kms clocked 12000 only. Ford is saying the smoke is normal and it's with every car and I noticed too with Hyundai...Maruti diesel cars...Smoke is coming on above 2000 rpm and on sudden acceleration only ....on light foot RPM no issue...Scanning also done by ford 2 times on my request...they said the updated software on 2nd setting.. kindly brief me..

    • @dailyhandsdiy
      @dailyhandsdiy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes diesel engine does emit smoke on higher revs. Especially ford, smokes hards at higher rpms abv 2000 rpms. Its not a fault, unlike petrol diesel ignite itself without any external fire so at higher rpms it lacks proper burning and pushes smoke out. No wrys its perfectly normal.

Hi there, its a turbo pressure performance issue. Check the turbo actuator solenoid if its funtioning good, check the vacuum pipe if it has any leaks. Or you have a boost leak somewhere. Clean the map n maf sensors. check the air filter. Try these out first and if not doing the job must inspect the turbo.

Hi, my ecosport diesel shows the wrench symbol and when i switch off and on the car it goes away. When ran the error through OBD scanner it showed MAF sensor issue. But mechanic ignored and said it will be service issue. Once again after doing oil service i notice the same issue. Issues are below
    1. Diesel smell when we revv the car increasing the rpm.
2.black smoke from car after service
    3. During idle car revv itself without accelaration and goes up nd down revv
    4. When going in 2nd or 3rd gear it shows jerkness
Does all above points to maf sensor or o2 sensor or any other issue??

    • @dailyhandsdiy

Maf sensor codes are stored when the MAF sensor itself is faulty or is due for cleaning. Secondly, any egr related faults too gives the same error codes ...clean the EGR and air intake sensors.

Either the solenoid is busted, leaks in vacuum hose or the turbo waste gate is stuck.

    Vehicle: Ford EcoSport
    Mileage:65,000Kms
    Year:2013
Oil consumption is too high, it needs top-up, maybe 3 times in an interval of 10,000kms. There aren't any visible leaks so far, but I can see some oil below the oil filter and on the wiring harness located right below it , I suspect that the people at ford service center doesn't clean them lol!.
I removed the intake hose from the turbo, I was able to observe a misty coat of oil on the hose and that doesn't seem to be coming from the turbo.
There is a hose from the valve cover that meets the intake hose(before the turbo) right. What is that..Is that a part of PCV system for fords . I guess the oil is coming through that hose from the head(just a guess lol). The car doesn't produce any white smokes except during cold starts , but it does produces black smoke at higher RPMs. I'm planning to clean the MAF/MAP sensors and the EGR valve, thanks to Daily Hands Diy's video of them.
Thanks in advance and your channel is the only one I could find who makes regular and quality videos on these cars.

Thanks brother made my day. And yes the small pipe is the pcv system, its quite often to see such consumption in oil ford engines, upgrade to 5w40 grade engine oil. And do the said preventives too.

@@dailyhandsdiy Thanks for the quick reply,
Would a new PCV valve can solve the problem, I can't find that part anywhere though or should I install an oil catch can.
One thing worth mentioning is that, 2 years back the engine was decarbonised, before that the engine wasn't burning/consuming oil so is it because the piston rings are shot and the carbon build-up was helping in maintaining compression?.
Before decarbonising the engine was quite laggy.

@@dailyhandsdiy I would also like to know if we want to pump gear fluid into gearbox.

A catch can reduce some amount but there should be oil spitting out of turbo to the manifold too. So upgrading to a thicker oil can reduce some extent. And i am not a good fan of decarbonising, it can distroy the engine later. Can burn the pistons rings and cause piston head to melt. Instead you can unplug the egr for like 1000 kms and drive, it will decarbonize itself witj nly fresh air and proper combustion. Ford uses diaphragm pcvs so changing it wont cure anything.

@@dailyhandsdiyWould unplugging the EGR lead to a lit engine light. Also what's your state on engine oil flushing and diesel additives
