Ahh, the Note 9. The swiss army knife of phones. This is the best phone Samsung has ever made. I loved my Note 10+, but after the Note 9, the loss of so many features, specifically the headphone jack and later on SD card, along with the other neat little features it has, is what keeps the Note 9 planted in my mind.

The iris scanned doesn't just kind of work, it works great! I used it on the Note8 and 9 as the primary method to unlock and loved it. The only downside (for some people who are very self-aware) would be that you had to place the phone directly in front of your eyes so it looked like you're taking a selfie, but just for a split second becase the scanner was really fast (faster than the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner on my Note20 Ultra).

Still using a 2018 Note 9. Love it. I'm old as dirt & hoping it outlasts me. 🤞

My note 9 came with 8.1.0 Oreo and I'm unsure what to do with it. I like this version, sure, but it's way more suited as a collectors edition.

I just received one that I purchased online; eBay as luck would have it. Luck would also have it that the Ocean Blue Note9 with 512GB/8GB was kept so well that it is virtually indistinguishable from new. It's remarkable. It feels and looks like a contemporary phone. I'd given my Ocean Blue Note9 to my youngest brother two years ago when he needed a phone. I started to miss my Note9 almost right away.
When the Note9 arrived a few days ago, I rewatched the Samsung Unpacked event where the Note9 was revealed in early August 2018. It was like going back in time.

i still have the s9 but the last Software update runs very slow on it...
so i switched to pixels android 13, you can do it on the note 9 too!
if you think this software is smooth, you have seen nothing yet, this phone still has a huge potential!

    • @fearless6947
      @fearless6947 ปีที่แล้ว +1

these updates slow down the phones. This is what apple did as well. I remember receiving the last update on my note 4 and the phone was so slow afterwards.

Had my Note9 since 2018, been very good, battery has definitely weakened but still holds up well for most of the day. Unfortunately got a spider web crack (point of impact bottom left corner), so with no security updates either I'm considering getting an S21U refurbished.
Note21U would have been next but has battery issues and a hot SoC, being in UK and subjected to exynos, and getting an SD would be great but there's no support in UK for phones/models not released here.

I'm not so sure about security patches being completely necessary. My brother in law is still using a Note Edge. He has an antivirus. Most apps still work with it. He doesn't seem to be having any major issues. I mean, it's slow and battery life is not great.

  • @majorskies7091

It really was, my Note 9 (2nd battery now) is going weak again and I have the European model so I have the real weak Exynos 980; as much as I will miss the headphone jack, SD card, LED Notification and rear racing finger print scanner, I will get over it as I think I will buy the S23 Ultra; only because really in UK we finally FINALLY get Snapdragon.
But yeah, the S9 and Note 9 were the last real Samsung phones.

I miss my Note 9. Thinking about buying one Renewed as a media / back up device. How much longer do you think apps and stuff will continue working on it before it becomes unusable? I miss that phone. They REALLY stuck it to us removing so many features. It's not cool.

Same, no reason to upgrade. Samsung should keep this model alive Samsung chose to go apple road after this phone. I remember times when Samsung was adding features to their note phones. Note 3 - air temperature sensor, note 4 uv sensor, note 9 - blood pressure sensor and variable aperture on the main camera. All other note phones after 9 were downgrade in terms of features.

I just purchased a Note9 and it came with Android 8.1.0 Oreo and I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to use it on android 8 but neither do I want to update it. Dammit.
I'll either have to resell it on a collector market or just update it and use it normally. But I'm not sure whether android 10 will be worth it. As of now I can only upgrade to September 2018 security update meanwhile my current one is from July.
